- A little while back I got sent these brand new SABIAN Quiet Tone practice cymbals for me to try out and let you guys know what I think. If you haven't tried practice cymbals before, they can be a great way to practice with the feel and response of a real cymbal but at a volume level where you could easily play at home. Let me know in the comments what you think!
I was genuinely impressed with the feel, look and sound response from these cymbals so if you're wanting to upgrade your practice rig and need to keep the noise down, go check these out!

thanks zildjian
Simon lol. I am interested to see if Sabian did a better job of actual cymbal rebound though
Also it was kind of hard to gauge how quiet they were considering you didn't contrast the cymbals to any other sound at all other than themselves, apart from the difference in tone the quietness of them could be due to low gain/volume etc. A run round the kit would've been great to relativise their volume. Great video and review tho!
Great review! Looking forward to getting a set of these Quiet Tone Cymbals! 💿
As a Sabian dealer we were pretty excited about these!
RNA MUSIC - I’m in Australia. The Drum Centre Of Portsmouth, New Hampshire USA is selling the QTPC504 at US$350 + appx US$70-100 for shipping/postage to Oz. I’d rung them to confirm these details besides testing it on their website.
I’m not sure where you’re located, but just wondering if you have a better deal.
I can ring you if you guys have a help line number. Cheers from Oz!
Dūm Dūm Brown I'd have to check with the sabian. most of the time we can't sell internationally if there are distributors in your country. It violates our Dealer agreements here. companies are very particular about that sometimes.
Dūm Dūm Brown did you ever get them? If so how do you like them?
Sounding quite sweet! And a nice review there ;)
Robert Zildjian formed Sabian Cymbals, named after their three children. I use Zildjian Low Volume and Sabian Quiet Tone Cymbals on each of my drum sets. Like anything it's personal taste. Very interesting family history!
Oh great, the L80s look way different!
Maybe these are a great option to stack them with regular cymbals! You should try it Ben!
Good’ne, Ben - thank you - is there any chance that you can compare these with the J Series Low Volume cymbal set from Chang?
I’m probably asking too much - but I thought I’d try my luck 😉
I feet like these would be cool for an intimate kind of band. Really closely mic'd, but when you lay into them, it doesn't kill the vibe.
Not to hate on Sabian but I think it's hilarious how they copy zildjian usually 1-3 years after they've done something new.... What's next, special dry sabians? Lol.
Actually extra drys came from meinl...zildjian copied meinl lol
+Ayush Aripirala I don't think I'm gonna bother arguing with someone that has a meinl profile picture. But listen here my dude, zildjian has been a company since 1623, they had dry cymbals before meinl did lol. They're the orginal Turkish traditional dry cymbals. Try again.
NathanDrums oh I didn't know that, thanks for clarifying that!
+Ayush Aripirala surprisingly not a lot of people do, sorry if I came off rude though didn't mean to. But any time!
Sabian Artisan Elite?
I reeeeeally wanted you to hit a snare or something for comparison :D
usually im a zildjian player and since zildjian did kinda pioneer this design i was skeptical but i think i prefer these to the zildjian versions
very original I've never seen these before!
Hey! You like your Ride on your left side, too! I'm a left handed drummer who plays a right handed kit.
Any ideas on how to set up triggers on these without actually muting or deadening them to get Roland Drum Module control? I was thinking Magnatrach DST-1's wtih cymbal Stand Mounts. But have no idea really
Sorry I'm not sure on that one! It's not something I've ever done but personally I'd just get proper e-cymbals for that
Did any of you find a solution? I thought about adding a piezo sensor to the cymbals, then into Superior Drummer 3 through an Alesis Trigger i|O drum sound module.
Is there anything on the market, more advanced than a simple piezo, similar to Drum Triggers but for Cymbals?
Must have!
Looks good! What would you recommend using along side these to practise playing a full kit?
Remo silentstroke mesh heads + these = quiet practice set
hahaha i like how other companies blatantly copy zildjian
ARDNASSAC LOTSIRB Sabian said in their quiet tone video that they did not invent quiet cymbals .
took then 2 years to get stainless steel?!
yeah that's true
Where did they ever come up with this idea!!!? Lol. They sound nice though.
These are really cool! So who's making the reduced noise 'rest of kit' then?
Riptide remo makes some great mesh heads to use for low volume set ups
JessePlaysDrums awesome, thanks! Ill check that out 👌
Riptide RTOM Black Hole Practice Systems. Means you don’t have to replace the drum head.
The RTOM set does sound and feel much better than the Remo SilentStroke set. Costlier, but better. I’m thinking of pairing the RTOMs and Sabian QTPC504 on my acoustic kit.
Zildjian and then Sabian 1-3 years later
Sounds like zildjian
Zildjian is the original makers of these but then other companies made their own versions.
What are your thoughts on an electric drum kit for home practice?
Very useful

Zildjian L80 made in USA, Sabian QuietTone made in China. Just saying . . .
Let's be honest putting holes in cymbals wasn't a zildjian invention anyway
