This is my 1998 BMW E39 520i single vanos.
My car overheated after few months of driving. it was leaking from the radiator. I figured I could get away with refreshing the cooling system so I changed my radiator and coolant reservoir, water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, cap and bleeder crews. But I found traces of oil in my cooling parts so I'm pretty certain my head gasket is blown. I'll take the opportunity to replace some hard to reach parts too. That will be in the next e39 video. Stay tuned!

I try to see it from a positive side... It'll be a good learning experience for me. These engines are quite more complex in comparison to my 924.

@@RestorationApprentice For sure! Lots of work ahead. Will you have head checked at machine shop and decked if needed? Good time to replace valve stem seals and redo Vanos unit.

@@jeffhammond8969 yeah, will take the head to a machine shop to check for warping and cracks. Probably do valve seals too. I think my single vanos is in pretty good shape so I'm not doing that, I need to get back to my 924 asap.
