- After spending nearly three years seeking to hold Donald Trump and his allies accountable for trying to overturn the 2020 election, the Fulton county district attorney, Fani Willis, faces a series of imminent, critical choices that could upend her consequential case against the former president and 14 remaining co-defendants. Michael Roman, a seasoned Republican operative and one of the defendants in the wide-ranging racketeering case, filed a motion earlier this month seeking the disqualification of Willis and Nathan Wade, an outside lawyer hired by Willis in 2021 to assist with the Trump case. In court filings, Roman alleged Willis and Wade were in a romantic relationship and Wade had used some of the more than $650,000 he earned from his work for her to pay for vacations for the two of them. Bank records made public last week showed Wade had paid for tickets for himself and Willis to California in 2023 and Miami in 2022. Neither Willis nor Wade has confirmed or denied a romantic relationship yet, and Willis has said she will respond in a court filing due on 2 February. A hearing on the request is set for 15 February. Willis has said all of the special prosecutors she hired were paid the same rate.

I really hope this doesn't affect the case against 45 or it gets thrown out. If anybody that thinks that they are above the law its him and he needs to be bought down to his knees!!! He has done and said some very questionable things but he still got supporters backing him. Fani please get your ish together and use some common sense. I would hate to see her lose her job over her personal relationship!
I'm not sure if you understand the direness of this. It wasn't just 'her personal' relationship. It was the special prosecutor she hired to try the case - that's monumental. It's no regular affair. He used the money the office paid him to fund the affair. Do you see how off the charts that is? It's beyond a regular ole' affair. It won't get thrown out but it will be delayed because once she & Nathan are removed, they will have to find new folks & that could be delayed by GA republicans until after the election. When all this is written about in the history books, this woman will be written down as the GA DA who was caught having an affair with the SP she hired. She mucked up her name for generations to come.

You helped me to see myself in the bad choices I made with men that caused me to learn the hard way but after 2 mistakes I became a better woman of myself. So true. When I first heard of Ms. Willis, I was amazed that this smart woman of color was making these bold moves and winning. She had the strongest case against the former President that now will be lost due to a scandal. I'm not disappointed that she lost; I'm disappointed how she lost.

Fani was raised by her father, and she moves like many “Alpha” men would. Not that she’s masculine, but that her needs come first - no matter who or what suffers. Ironically, she has this in common with the former 45th President.
Yes, she made an incredibly dumb decision, but I don’t think this will derail the case. Their careers will be derailed, but not the case.

Yes, your commentary was spot on. You can be smart, educated and have book sense, but NO common sense!!! This was a major screw up. Both the instances were sooo fundamental and basic at its core!!! This is such a disappointment😟 When you are a black woman, fighting in the political and justice arena, you have got to be squeaky clean. After trying everything legally, throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, to have Fani taken off this case, she made it easy for them on this mess!!!! A new prosecutor being put on this case will delay the case. It doesn’t change the facts of the case, but it definitely will delay the case. Look, listen and learn.

Mmmm mmmm mmmm….as my mother used to sing/say as she side-eyed you. 😂😂. “You think she learned her lesson??” is the bigger question.
I’m wondering if she grew up too fast and felt like she missed out on experiencing some of the things she experiencing now. You know like when the girls had babies too young and didn’t get to experience the age appropriate things most girls experienced because she had to raise her baby? I’ve noticed they appear delayed in the things they go through in life….things Fani is doing at 53 years old, some of us may have done at 33 years old. If so, she will experience whatever is meant for her to experience at whatever time it appears in her life and she’ll respond to it at her maturity level…however delayed it may be.

NO doubt, this is a mess all around. Certainly for Fani and her family and Wade , but also for Jocelyn and their children. The would-be dictator accused her of sleeping with a gang member, so no surprise that this is where this is. I’m sure there are others who should be able to run with the road map she’s laid out to result in successful prosecution. That’s the big picture.
Try to indict Trump on frivilous charges and this happens to you. The corrupt trying to indict the innocent. It only makes Trump's case stronger. People are starting to see through such election interference.
