    Those were Skoda Busses. They were also build in Poland on license. Greetings from UK and Poland. Ps. Converting busses in Europe isn't as popular because of many tourists spots specially at the south of continent have very small, narrow roads.

    just for your information, the first three green truck are older than that in the second race. The first one, T805 is from early 50', the second one T148 is from early 70', the ones in the third race are V3S, which is on the left, the one on the right is T111 and it is actually one of the oldest -- it has inverted front shield. In the fourth race, the one on the left is T138, the one on the right is T815. 5th one: both T813.

    8:05 These are buses of the Czech brand Karosa. Originally it was Škoda's bus division (like Liaz was Škoda's truck division), but now Karosa belongs to Italian Iveco.

    Hi, take a look on the modern Tatras - they are building awesome army trucks (exclusive partner of Czech army + many NATO armies), firefighter trucks, xxl trucks for special emergency (with first response units), mining trucks etc..
    They have unbelievable amount of types, as you can customize them according to your needs...

    @8:40 Some people in our country do it, but to take a vintage Skoda bus, and to destroy it by converting it into an RV... I think your parents would disown you, you'd be scratched out of their will... you might even lose your citizenship :D But seriously, there is a strong community enthusiasts who look for vehicles like this, and renovate them.

    The unimog-sized trucks in the beginning of the video stand out: The Tatra 805 - obviously independent suspension, but also geared wheelhubs for more clearance and an aircooled 2.5 litre petrol V8 engine originally from Tatra 603. These were mostly military, but you find a few also as firefighting vehicles. There was also a prototype of something like a huge military jeep built on the same frame, a bit lighter than a Humvee.

    IMHO one difference to USA is what people understand as "restoration"
    Americans take an old car, cut everything they dont want and rebuild it as they want with modern parts or parts from another brands, etc... the target is to have a car that LOOKS somehow original
    In Europe the target of a restoration of an old car is to preserve it. It has to be the most original as it could be. Even the paint has to be the original.
    This difference is also shown in tuning: West Coast Customs learnt it the hard way: in USA it is about the look. Noone looks under the carpet. When they came to Berlin they learnt 3 lessons:
    1. European love understatemaent. Vitali Klitschko (former heavy wight world cahmpion in boxing) was their first customer. His car was--- a SMART
    He wanted the engine tuned but no TVs and toys
    2. EU labour laws are way stricter than in the US
    3. Every car needs TÜV. a technical instection every 2nd year... I remember someone from TÜV said about the cars WCC built in USA: none of them would be allowed on German streets.
    The last point is important: you cannot build anything you want. There are strict regulations. Thats another reason why the US kind of restoration wouldn't work. If it is a classic car, TÜV uses the specifications of its year. But if you change something it is a new car and therefore has to pass actual law

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin Před 8 měsíci

      I think there is nothing wrong with converting your bus or truck to something slightly different when you need it and it's gonna be safe and pass technical check, but at least some of those older cars should be preserved in original state, but you have a lot of them in museum and these tatra trucks or our karosa buses are not rare, they are everywhere, so you can do whatever you want with that. If it was some truck from 1935, it would be really a shame to converting it and upgrading it with modern parts.

  • @Pyrochemik007
    @Pyrochemik007 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Those round ones, like the orange truck, are T 148, produced between 1972-1982.
    But they took design from T 138, produced since 1959, so your guess of age is not that bad. Total pieces produced were 113 654.
    V8 12,7L air cooled diesel engine with 202 horses.
    If you saw a 1980s propaganda poster about building new commie residential blocks, there would be this orange tatra parked in front of it. There were also plastic toys we played with modeled after this vehicle, I remember it could carry my 5y/o self or 3 buckets of sand.

  • @chytrex
    @chytrex Před 9 měsíci +1

    Those Tatras you claimed to be dfrom 50's are Tatra 148 (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatra_148) improved version of Tatra 138 which were really from 50\s. Those military ones were I guess Tatra 111 and the second one (returning first) was Praga V3S ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praga_V3S ). And I can only guess but, IMHO the camera car was some variation of Tatra 813 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatra_813 ) or some of its mutation.. they were made in many shapes ( From 4x4 to 8x8 ).
    BTW I would love to see your reaction to one of plenty vids with Tatras on Truck Trial events, for example from Mohelnice.. I guess you would love some crazy terrain and roaring tatras on top of that :D
    Greetings from Czechia and thanks for your vids.. I love them :)

  • @kyslikcz8160
    @kyslikcz8160 Před 8 měsíci +1

    The couple of military ones are: Tatra 111 (this type of tatra etered in military service in 40s) and the seckond is Praga V3S (V3S means vojenský třítunový speciál = three-ton militaty specia and by czechs is this truck often called "vejtřaska") and I thing it could be version JVR (velitelsko štábní automobil = command staff car) or ŠA (štábní automobil = staff car). The Praga V3S was prodused between 1953 and 1990 and many of thouse truck are still in use to civilian purposes and also they are still in use in some militaries all around the world.

    The truck with the crane at about 2:20 immediately made me think of Snowrunner!
    For Soviet-era heavy vehicles, they actually went up and down there a lot less slowly than I expected!
    The stuff about "bus racing" reminds me of a funny site when I was a kid. Some sort of vintage car/steam rally was taking place, and near the end of the day when we were going back to my mum and dad's car, we walked past a separate exit where a bunch of fast/exotic older cars were being let out one at a time, most of them using it as an excuse to make a dramatic/wheelspinny exit. But there were also busses in that queue! Most of the busses left normally, but the one leaving just as I got there, a big expensive newer Volvo "coach" type nice bus for private hires, decided it was gonna do a "fun" exit too. The engine basically got maxed out on the line, and he let the clutch out. The twin-rear tyres chirped, and the front of it rose right to the top of its suspension travel as it got away, it must have had a lot of travel since for the brief moment the gap between the front wheel and the panel around it looked like it got bigger by about a foot!

    G'day Ian 👍🇦🇺
    Heads up, *_LandCruiser 70 series have an even more retro throwback facelift for 2024!!!_*
    Back to the 75 series front end look..... *But with ultra new-age led ring headlights 😂 wtf!*
    Also offering a 2.8 4cyl turbo diesel 6spd auto option. Keeping the 4.5 V8 option. There would have been a "summer of love" fiery and not so peaceful protest in Australia if they ditched the dinosaur V8 😂 (although, look up retuning remapping, chip upgrades and exhaust system upgrades for some pretty serious gains in hp and torque) 😏👍
    I've had a graphite grey 76 series V8 wagon on order since Apr 2022. Wonder if I'll scrape in with the last of the 2023 or a 2024 🤔 Not sure what I'd prefer. Tell me what you think🤷‍♂️
    or could be a 2025 model at this rate.
    New sub. Love your enthusiasm and appreciation for all things outside of your own backyard.
