Well my full Skindog Ova surfboard review is definitely one you should watch!
When it comes to mid length surfboards, I'm the first to admit I love them! Heap of paddle power, lots of fun factor, what's there not to enjoy about a midlength?
And with so many options to choose from it can be a tough call which one will suit you best.
So when I got my hands on the Skindog Ova in Thunderbolt Red I wasn't sure what to expect from it - it promised so much, but would it deliver?
Having put it through its paces for this surfboard review, I'm absolutely frothing on it - and it's now one of my favourite boards in my quiver!

Good review. I agree it’s a very versatile shape. I found a used one in good condition for about half price of new and it’s a winner. Have run the HI Quads (confident but still maneuverable) as well as the Skindog 2+1. I thought it looked overfinned with those side bites too but it goes. Really like the FCS2 system for swapping out without set screws.

Hi. Great review. Basic question. What is meant by 50/50 rail ?
Glad you enjoyed the review, it’s a super fun board! A 50:50 rail means the edge of the board doesn’t have a hard rail line (unlike the backend of most high performance boards do) which creates a smooth flowing ride 🤙

What’s size and fin setup did you go with?
@@StokedForTravel I made a custom 6'6 and used with a regular thruster medium fins. Epic board. Im 5'6 and 72Kg. Best board ever

Throw a set of S wing 520 red twins in it with a couple of nubsters in the quad plugs. Run the nubsters in the forward or rearward plugs depending upon wave size. Spicy, loose and roundhouse cutbacks are on autopilot with these fins. Get a hold of Bravo surf on the GC for the fins. They may let you demo some if you want to review them.
Now that’s an idea I hadn’t thought of trying! Geez those things look nuts! You running those in yours or another board setup?
@@StokedForTravel In the Ova. 520 red twins with nubsters in the quad plugs. In the front plugs if its below head high. I guarantee you will be shocked how much more lively the board will feel.
Great review. Would you recommend the Ova or Sunday for someone looking for cruising board with plenty of flow?
ooooo that's a tough one, both are great fun! I think the Ova has the edge though because of the versatility. Unfortunately they aren't making the Sundays with the single centre fin anymore either!

Def Ova. It’s just next level. A true underdog.
Machado’s got a lot of great boards. Sunday may not be one of them. If anything look at the extended fishes like the Seaside and Beyond. Skip the Sunday.
How does this stack up to the HI Moe??
Both feel very different, mainly due to the fin setup. I personally prefer the Ova at the moment as it feels more longboard like and has a bit of a wider wave range. That being said the Moe and Moe Mini are super fast and fun and have an advantage in fatter, smaller surf. So it really depends what waves you’re surfing and what fin setup suits your style 🤙
