    if you wanna sing songs about the rural country life, you gotta live in the big city of Nashville.

    My father Forrest Parker is a world renowned steel guitar player, he’s played with all the greats! He says to write 100 songs then, and only then will you be ready to write ONE!! I’ve been fortunate to have the gift of putting lyrics to paper and putting a melody behind it! Always keep learning, growing and critiquing yourself

      @chicagobob Před 3 lety

      How does it work now?

    • @RES81
      @RES81 Před 3 lety +2

      @@chicagobob Today, writing sessions can amass four or five writers including a producer or “track guy” who often sits in the room and helps build the song from start to finish and most of the time this is all strategically put together by recording label execs that gives them a blueprint of what kind of song that they want. By the time the songwriters leave they have a professional sounding demo. While today’s efficiency saves record labels and artists money, it has made the job of a session musician more difficult to find. Before Songwriters wrote songws went to a studio and got a demo worked up and had a publisher pitch them to artists, not anymore tho ... the Labels are orchestrating and controlling everything.

    • @chicagobob
      @chicagobob Před 3 lety

      @@RES81 thank you. So how does an independent songrwriter of lyrics or music crack into the business these days?

    • @RES81
      @RES81 Před 3 lety +2

      @@chicagobob Like I said everything is pretty much done in house now and the Nashville labels pretty much only hire young writers with influences in Pop,R&B and Hip Hop, if you fit that description then you could move to Nashville and hook up with other young writers and eventually get a job with a label as a round table writer .... if you want to learn more about writing and being in an online song writing community then check out SongTown by two very successful writers, Marty Dodson and Clay Mills, they work with many artist and songwriters and have them on Songtown to help mentor and give tips on pitching songs ... I highly recommend it! ... but there are many other ways to get songs out there but I'm not familiar with them, but you have to avoid the sharks that'll fill you with bull to get your money,

    Easy for successful songwriters to tell you how to do it. Example: man/woman with a family of 6. Advise... start having sex. But the success and character of that family now depends on how they are raised.

      Heres the secret: play G, D, E, C semi fast. BOOM hit uptempo song. Then play G,D,E,C semi slow. BOOM hit slow song. Then play G,D,E,C mid tempo...maybe add a capo...BOOM hit mid tempo song. You can figure out the rest.
