I like your self taught tutorials because you teach from the point of view as someone who doesn’t know the software inside and out so you don’t get bogged down in the technical details, I’m going to build some stuff :) you have a very nice voice and the background music makes this whole thing so relaxing 😊
I am a bit old and crap but I managed to make a box with lights and a shiny floor lol. You did a great job with this. So many tutorials I have watched do the whole "common knowledge" thing where basic stuff that is simple to them is just alien to other's and they forget to explain it. It's going to take a lot of time to actually make something worth showing off but at least now I know how to start off. Thank you :D

I have a little tip that could be quite useful, I would highly recommend using the GPU lightmapper instead of CPU, GPU is so much faster. and will save you tons of time, it will also mean higher samples can be used, meaning a better lightmap. But great video :)
My GPU tends to lag my computer a bit, need a better one!

Edge selection was the most useful thing I just learned. I'm disappointed that I never found it. I've been manually scaling duplicate materials. I can cut down my world size massively now.

Any tips for a absolute beginner? Love those light shaders and reflections, seriously. I want to add rain effects and visuals in my own world. And ASMR stuff too. Currently learning Blender. :3 Should I learn Unity as well? Sorry newbie here. :3 Also would you need to know C# for the worlds as well? To toggle effects I mean on and off. Or if you just want a chill world? Just curious. Thanks. :)
You would not need to know C# Alot the creators that code have created prefabs that make are life alot easier!

After baking, the world goes back to no lighting look. like the reflection probe and the point light is there but it's dark
Check your sky box if you have changed it, it may effect the over all lightening! Put enough point light in see if it changes anything

Thank you for this tutorial, it's really helpful especially for people trying to learn how to create worlds for VRChat 😅 Just wondering though...is there a faster way to see how the lighting will turn out without having to bake it every time? Like, say you want to test settings to see which looks better or maybe even just the position of something in the world but don't want to have to wait 20 ish minutes each time for the baking process? 💜
There is an add on called bakery that makes things alot faster but is different to unity lightening. It all goes of how well you PC run's (specs) I would recommended searching up bakery addon and learning more about it before buying to see if it's to your interest

Heyo! I know I keep coming back, but you've been a great help. Was wondering if you could solve some sort of mesh rendering issue with the painting I made. It's not letting me generate the lighting because, after like an hour of figuring out the lingo and where the source of the issue was coming from, I've not been able to fix it. When I try to generate the baked light, it says that there's an issue with UV2 missing some stuff that I don't understand. I delved even further and found that I can bake it if i turn static off. I tried resetting the meshes, changing the parameters of them, etc, but nothing's really working. Do I just need to make a new one, or is this an easy fix and I'm just tiny brain?

Do you have experience with Neos VR? I am looking to hire someone for ongoing projects to create a few different worlds for my class.
I'm having a new issue now. There's no light inspector when I insert the point light into the hierarchy. There's no lighting options except for the lightmapping from the actual lighting tab, but when I insert the point light, and I click on "inspector", there's nothing, and it's just blank. Help?
Update AGAIN:
Apparently, I clicked on the 3 little dots in the top right corner of all the tabs. It dropped down some options, but I clicked on "debug" and it opened a new tab for debugging editing options. It was obviously NOT what I was looking for, so I clicked on the dots again and changed it to "normal". FOR SOME REASON this fixed my inspector issue?....What!? Idk, but I'm just glad that the inspector is working now. Sorry for spamming! Hopefully if anyone else runs into this issue as well, they can find this useful!
whenever i generate lighting it reflects my skybox to all surfaces. How do I prevent that?

Hello! I used wood for my floor, and pressed generate lighting, and now my floor is black instead of brown. Are the settings you used for the lighting only good for the type of floor that you used? Or another question, is there anyway to undo a generate lighting or would I just have to redo my project?

When I clicked Generate Lighting instead of keeping the walls and floors its normal colour it made it a grey and when I tried putting a white material on it doesn't change it. Do you know how to fix this?

At 14:42, I tried doing the face selection, and pulling the top of the door and wall downwards, but a portion of the door is being bent over, with a clear lining at the back. Why is that and how can I fix it?

Update: I found out that it won't work if you're using VCC. You have to make the project through the unity hub or assets like probuilder won't work. Thank you!

i followed the neon tutorial part exactly how you did but for me its not glowing, i mean its glowing but its not shining onto the walls
have you made your material glossier
Make the walls and neon light static in the inspector
When making the walls the cones turn into squares and mess the whole thing up and then when I try to do it it doesn’t work
