  • Here's a quick video to watch about how to replace your failed slide out fuse.
I understand that not all RV slide out fuses are located in the same location ours is, I suggest you check you check your manual if its not in the same location as ours on a 2017 Rockwood mini Lite 2504S.
Edward had a great comment worth mentioning and he is so right. "#1 make sure somehow your battery ON/OFF switch isn't switched off. Fuse #2."

My fuses were fine. Next step was to try to reset the slide out controller. It was not easily accessible on my Jayco class C. I fix the problem by disconnecting the negative lead to the house battery and reattaching. that reset the controller and slide out worked. Just turning off circuit breaker to house did not deenergize the controller.

Nice video. I'm so fed up with RV repair shops. I've had our 09' Winnebago View in to 2 places here in Idaho and they only took my $$, and couldn't find the cause of our slide out not working. I will go underneath and trace the entire wire mine field hoping to find a fuse like this. The fuse box fuse is fine, the SO panel lights and controller box lights both blink, but no power is going to the 2 motors. Manual operation is a piece of cake at the front, but the rear is a pain in the neck. Even if I don't find the problem, thanks for a concise and informative video.

Hello Dan. I'm sorry it took a few days for me to respond, we were out of town. Its possible wires may have come loose on the back of your switch panel or the switch may be bad. I would would remove the panel and look behind it at wires to the switches. Also sometimes you can find a hidden fuse behind this panel but not always. One more thing to check is where the wire is in the arm that folds out for the awning motor, it may have been pinched and cut. Are you sure the fuse you found is not bad, I would replace it for giggles to see if the awning works.
Did the awning and outside light stop at the same time? Its possible the bulb may have burnt out (I had to replace my outside bulb since mine went out and I have a 2017).
Please keep me posted on what you find out, meanwhile I'll keep thinking about what could be wrong. Good luck

You have to think, what caused the fuse to blow? strain on the slide out motor causing it to draw more amps than it should? is the motor getting worn out? Is there a short in the electrical system from the switch to to slide out motor? fuses burn up for a reason.

      1) Been having numerous fuses blowing and some things well I don't know. - Its possible you have electrical shorts somewhere or someone put the wrong sized fuses in. Your going to have to take a close look at each problem individually and make the repairs or you will feel overwhelmed.
      2) Stabilizer jacks come down but u can push them up and come back down? How do I make them secure? - What type of stabilizer jacks do you have? Electric or hydraulic? Manual Crank Down? It sounds like they do operate coming down and you have to push them up and then they drop down again. they may be hydraulic and if they are you may have a hydraulic oil leak?
      3) Found tiny hole in septic tank w really no access - I'm not clear on what you mean here?
      4) Mind you our first RV and tank surprised us by not being able to empty toilet. Had to drive w stretch and seal( saran wrap) over toilet till I found a dump station. Since it was so high do we need to be concerned w it as long as we don't let it get so high?? - As long as you were able to dump it and clean the tank really well you should be okay.

    • @thetraveltrailerguy
      @thetraveltrailerguy  Před rokem

I'm not sure since I have never heard of this happening before.
      Is it a power awning?
Does it go out without any binding sounds?
What do you do now to bring it back in when this happens?
Does this happen every time you try and bring it back in or just sometimes? If so you might have a damaged wire or bad control switch.
Here's my guess on what is causing the problem -
If you have a power awning I would start with looking at the back of the awning switch, its possible you have a bad connection on the retract wire connections or the switch may have failed and needs to be replaced. I hope you can get back to me to let me know what you find :)
If you are on Facebook you might want to post this question to some RV groups in hopes that someone that has had this problem will respond on how to fix the problem.

It could be a broken or disconnected wire, or a back control switch, or a broken sheer pin on the slide out rod off the motor

Slides are built cheaply. That’s all there is to it. We will keep our trailer without slides

Some people prefer to not have slides and some people do. Personally we like having a slide and really haven't had any problems with it in the 5+ years of owning this trailer. It sure adds a lot more livable living space. Thanks so much for commenting and watching :) czcams.com/users/MichaelBracewellTheTravelTrailerGuyvideos

Sounds like gear skipping at the end of the video. That ratcheting didn’t sound good.

If you removed your battery, the slide out will not operate even if it is plugged in. I found out the hard way.

Thank you for the info. Please limit your video to just the answer. We don't always have time to marvel at how you organize yourself. No hate bro, just the facts please.

The distance between the trim inside the slide out (wall) hitin the wall , how many inches should be? Should be Attached to the wall or detached a bit? Does it has to go all the way Close to the wall? Or it has to be an inch or two separated?
