Across the globe, many still believe in God and make attempts to prove the existence of a supreme being, but could it be that theistic belief is counter-intuitively itself sufficient proof for God’s non-existence? Is belief in God driven by an underlying human fear of mortality, or does religious belief provide more than just a get-out-of-death free card? Join famed comedian and award-winning author, David Baddiel, in conversation with Chine McDonald, director of the think tank Theos, as David unpacks the big questions surrounding mortality, the self, and the supernatural.
This event is in association with Theos.

God is the word Good or its Farsi root "khoob". God is a discovered concept by scientists. There is no mention of God at the start of any religion.
Happiness, health and wealth are also human desires, do they physically exist or just concepts which come to existence once we conceptualize/realize/see it?
woeful philosophy equating the veracity of beliefs and gnosis of God with the desire for God
Further that somehow the desire for something = it’s explanation

god is dead deal with it
Being and purpose. The universe reveals some surprising relationships and we should not minimize their importance.
The book of nature can be interpreted many ways, what do these interpretations produce? Who do they serve?
Religion should be an entirely private thing by law.
The historical appropriation of the social morality that is essential for a stable society by people who want to exert power has been one of the great tragedies of human history.
The Treaty of Westphalia and the end of Papal Infallibility showed the way.
John Oliver or David Baddiel: Same Person?
