With Hitler's declaration of war in 1939, Heinrich Himmler saw his chance to realize his own dreams. Himmler had help from Reinhard Heydrich, who was willing to kill close friends to achieve personal goals. Heydrich was the perfect supporter to establish a police state. In 1939, the Germans invaded Poland. Heydrich has to ensure and prepare the Germanization.

Brilliant series, but in this one the background music at some points is drowning out the commentator. Music is supposed to be "background" and in most programmes adds nothing at all to the content, be much better without it.

Most of the books I have read on Heydrich's assassination and the documentary I watched of it said that he died due to the horse hair inside the cars upholstered seats infecting his blood.

Hollywood, u gotta love em' ! The reenactors & consultants try to get it right then the main actors come out of the make-up tent with whatever they think makes them look good on set !
I thought I was the only one who noticed that. In one scene he has the collar patch of a Brigadefuhrer on the left and the SS patch on the right. From Standartenfuhrer up the rank was worn on both patches.
SS had several "odd" ranks i.e , Colonel General under Field Marshall.

Had the background music been only slightly louder, we wouldn't have heard the commentary at all!
My grandmother was a holocaust denier. We were a bit shocked by her attitude. We made her watch watch documentaries and films, including Schindler’s List, on the holocaust. We asked her to chat with historians and to get to know Jewish people who could tell her about Jewish customs and how they were cruelly treated during the holocaust. We even took her to synagogues and asked the Rabbi to speak to her. After so much immersion in holocaust and Jewish history and people my Granny did change her opinion. When we asked her of she still didn’t believe the holocaust never occurred she replied ‘oh, no it happened, I’m just surprised it only happened once’

In the end Himmler and Heydrich got what they deserved.
They got what they deserved? So did 6 million others so all is well that ends well. The survivors of that went on to be saved from camps & went on to commit the same acts against Palestine which still goes on.

The Madagascar plan had been talked about in Europe for years prior to that, and some Jewish groups even wanted it to happen if they could have self rule. Some Nazis wanted it SS controlled like a prison island, but some didn’t too. Eichmann for example thought the Jews should self rule in Madagascar.

@@den264 The SS did help in the resettlement of many jews in Palastine they opened an office in Vienna for that purpose and soon opened another two one in Berlin another in Prague but this all came to halt in 1939 with the outbreak of war
They selected Madagascar because they expected the Jews to self-destruct from lack of food, natural resources, etc.
