2007-2009 Lexus LS460 GROM Installation.
The VL2 option is basically a tablet in the dashboard. You can install Gapps, log into your google account, and connect to your cell phone's hotspot. Then the Grom unit can run by itself in the dash.
Once you have Google Play store access then you can install any android app. You can watch youtube videos, hook up an OBD gauge app, the possibilities are endless. On the VLITE version you can only connect your phone to the GROM and use android auto fully through your phone. The Grom can't be used as a standalone unit.

I went with the vLite2 but now wondering if i should have done the vLine2 but the vLine2 hardware is so old at this point I'm holding out hope for a vLine3. So far so good and easy to install.

Never thought to ask them about that. At least apps and map data stay up to date, no matter old old the android o/s is

@@LILEVO very true. They are running Android 8. My pixel 8pro is on 14. The hardware they use was already really old for 2019. I hope they do a simple hardware refresh with more ram and processing power which would ensure the apps can stay updated and everything is more efficient

@@LILEVO I have the vLite2 as of right now. Grom worked with me and it's finally working properly and stable after a few firmware updates and software patches

@chrishamby86 good to hear that! The three I have are ok. Only issues sometimes is the phone connecting interrupts the backup camera and it doesn't turn on every time

Is lexus doing anything for the cracked door handles? My dash is okay but my interior door grab bar parts are cracking . Thank you

I've had good luck with door panels and interior pieces on ebay. Just get them from cooler climates
