    • @gullintanni
      @gullintanni Před 5 lety +5

      Keep on dreaming. Efficiency is king, so players like Steph Curry are the future of guard play. You have to be able to make 5 3's a game, score 70% inside 3' and playmake when you get doubled or create a defensive rotation. Fox only rates elite on a few defensive metrics. His offensive game needs to change to be an MVP, a near impossibility for PG's. Still as I said before Fox was drafted, he would easily match John Wall in talent.

    • @jayfeev215
      @jayfeev215 Před 5 lety +14

      @@gullintanni There may be some truth to what you're saying however you should take into account the fact that when Curry was drafted he came into a much different league. His first two years in the league he was a good shooter but wasn't the player he is now and was older in his second season than Fox is now. They are two different players and while I don't think Fox will be an MVP I think in the right situation, on the right team he can be an integral piece on a championship team. It's important that we all remember that this game goes in waves and trends. We don't know what the next trend, rule change or offensive innovation will be and whatever it is could be something that plays into Fox's or a player of his skill set and athletic makeup's favor. There are a number of players who are all star and superstar caliber now in their primes that you could not have known would be the players they are now in their second season in the league, but you saw flashes of high level ability at times. Some of those players are Giannis, Paul George, Boogie Cousins, Anthony Davis, Victor Oladipo and Kawhi Leonard to name a few. Some more recent instances would be Jokic who took off in his second season and has continued to round into a very solid player, Pascal Siakam who in his third year is probably the second best player on that team (not quite all-star caliber but certainly a late bloomer showing great ability on both ends of the floor), Zach Lavine (although I'm not sure what he really is as a player because he's currently just a volume scorer, like a way more athletic Kevin Martin), and even one of Fox's current teammates - Buddy Hield who looks like a guy who will be a good scoring option for the next 4-5 years.
      Ultimately there's no way to determine from 1 and a half season what Fox's ceiling is (remember he spent too much time sharing the backcourt with George Hill early last season before they gave him the keys as well) so let's just sit back and enjoy the ride.

    • @gullintanni
      @gullintanni Před 5 lety

      @@jayfeev215 I think you underestimate how hard it is to get that MVP. PG's have to shoot 50/40/90 or average a tripple double to have a shot. Fox is not that calibre player. He is much more like Wall, a steady AllStar.

    • @jayfeev215
      @jayfeev215 Před 5 lety +3

      @@gullintanni So I didn't say he would be an MVP, go back I read what I wrote, I said he could be an integral part on a championship team. Also If he ranks elite on any defensive metrics in his second season he's already higher in that respect than Steph in either of his MVP seasons. I'm really not comparing the two and also reiterating the fact that i don't think Fox will be an NFL but he's a damn good young player with leadership qualities that you have to love. I also think his midrange and outside shooting are much farther along than John Wall's was at this point in his career. Time will tell.

    Fox is one of my favorite players to watch simply because of how unique he is. Like a skinny Westbrook (speed wise) but with a shot preference over power in the paint. He’s also really quick witted in person if you’ve ever heard him talk. Jaylen Brown was the most intelligent (IRL not Court) of his class and Fox definitely is from this one. Loved your point about his speed recovery on plays and block attempts- how he lands after trying and then immediately shoots up again is insane- can’t think of anyone faster in the league, but I guess that makes sense being so tiny. Just rare to see someone that quick also be that tall. Absolutely this Fox tho.

    Another important point is that Fox operates with 7 lanes to the basket. He organizes his attack on the basket by picking a lane of attack, kind’ve like a pitcher choosing where he’s gonna have the ball end up.
    His lefty handicap is clear, because his center lane leans heavily left, and the two closest left lanes are pretty mixed up, implying he’s far more comfortable maneuvering and shooting left. I’d imagine a lot of his drives right end with him going left past the defender, but I don’t watch many Sacramento games.

He is improving fast, and he is already great, as you broke it down, but for me it's not surprising at all. It's also weird to nominate a sophomore for MIP in my opinion. The analysis is great.

    He reminds me a little bit of a taller denis schroder, who both had questionable jumpers and used their speed to finish at the rim and in the midrange. Fox is easily the better defender, and player rn.
