    Excellent video! I agree.Post face-lift rusted far more.Im in Ireland but have seen soo many post face-lift with that left side A pillar completely rotten. Why ??? Yet my 1988 300d is almost perfect.Keep up the vids👍

    I know that the W123's all start under rear window rubber in the corner, even the cars from places like Upington where I got most of my good Merc's that I owned. However, these examples of W124's you have shown are alarming!

    Could it be differences in the production of these? Even in Northern Europe salt slush our w124's don't get like this even after 500.000 km with poor maintenance. The upper parts of the body do pretty well. Floors and jacking points gets it bad of course.

    Water is not friendly with cars. Water and moisture kill cars. Specially older ones. W123's and W124's are not well made from rust prospective. I keep my cars polished and never drive them in rain and outdoors.

    Rust is just cosmetic it doesn't hurt anything dont be afraid of a rusty car

    My rotten 300E, which will be rid off soon, is nothing compared to these rusty lumps. I would call mine "Pristine" after having seen this video.
    Are these cars assembled in South Africa, or made in Sindelfingen?

      East London SA. To be fair we are based at the coast so we do see the worst of them.
