Speechless. There's only so much notes on a page, dynamic markings, and director/chorus interpretation can do. Then the spirit takes over and you get a performance like this. I could tell that they KNEW what they were singing about. Thanks for the ministry.
best rendition of this song I've ever heard... I love the field calls at the end, great visual you created with them. It really implants the the struggle in your heart... wonderful
Wow! Just Wow! What phrasing and the breathing technique is flawless. Then add the adlib emotional response of the soloist to the Hall Johnson arraingement and you have nothing less than a blessing from God. Thanks Oakwood
this version of the aeolians have a lighter, more airy sound than the earlier choirs, but jason ferdinand has done an excellent job getting a wonderful blend out of them. very good work!! the soloists were waaaaaaay above average as well!!! incredible!!!!
Hallelujah Amen!!!! Outstanding all the way around! The basses...OMG! The soloist, especially that alto in the back!! The interpretation of the music, phrasing, musicality, breathing, and enunciation was perfect. I have never heard a group of young singers sing with so much passion. It's as if the slaves were singing thru them! I was definitely in tears!!! :'( God bless you all for blessing me and the world with this piece! :-)
BEAUTIFUL!!! I visited this church when I lived in Huntsville. When you are in the sanctuary and the choir is singing, it sounds like heaven's angels singing. The church has a great sound system and amazingly gifted singers/musicians.
Blessings!!! Oakwood University Church In Huntsville, Alabama Oakwood University Aeolians is the only university inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame Please pass it on so other may be blessed. Thanks for viewing.
I totally agree, Olivia Mender. The closest I can do is to travel to Columbus, Ohio to stay with a friend when the Aeolians give a concert at her.church.
murahomesa Hello! What are the names of the two female soloists from 3:08 to the end? The camera picks up the first soloist, but I never glimpse the second one who sings back and forth with the first one. Can you shed any light on the situation? :)
"The Aeolians could sing passages from the phone book and still make you feel the presence of the Divine."
-Huntsville Times
That was a quote for us back in 1971; I see they are still able to do it. :)
Amen too that, Are Jay!! 😁
The Aeolians are my favorite HBCU choral group!❤❤❤❤
