I am a long time pro cycling fan from the US. In 2023 I probably followed the sport more closely than I have in any previous year and both of you and your content was a huge part of that! I can honestly say that you were the anchor of my pro cycling consumption. You are always consistent, always relevant and far and away the highest quality content in this space. I am a bit in limbo as I look at the 2024 season and where I am going to have to go to with the patch-work of broadcast options (in the US), however, I am very confident that LRCP and all the content that each of you do individually will again be my anchor. Thanks for a fantastic 2023! You deserve all of the success that is coming your way!
I live in the US and have been a cycling fan for well over 30 years. This comment could have been written by me as it perfectly sums up my own very positive feelings toward Lantern Rouge with Patrick and Benji. I am very frustrated about not being able to see as much cycling broadcast to those of us in the US, but at least we will still have the great coverage that Patrick and Benji bring us. Thank you both for always being consistent, professional, and entertaining as well as being so informative.
Patrick Broefevere taking over!
0:01 Feedback @LRCP.
-Weekly show. Brilliant idea!
-More rider interviews so we can get to know the person behind the athelete. Gives us protagonists to follow
-Watch alongs. Personally, not a fan because I normally watch delayed in West Aussie.
-Great work with the Women's tour. It has me watching more intently with the tactical insight. Not sure how much We'll be able to see on SBS next year with GCN+ gone.
-Please keep doing what you've been doing. You guys have successfully turned me into a cycling degenerate. 😀
You guys enrich my cycling experience so much, I almost look forward to the recaps of races more than the races themselves sometimes. I loved the live streamed race recaps and I would love even more to see more live watchalongs of the big race finishes. Thanks for the great year lads, happy holidays! Shoutout producer Luc (?)
I became a fan of this podcast this year. Listened to almost every episode. Keep up the good work, and don't stop being yourself, the random jokes and rambling is hilarious and fantastic.
What I like most about the LRCP is the in depth analysis, the quick turnaround after races, the high level pre race speculation, the tour previews and the banter between you both. Keep it going for 2024!
When watching this Egan Bernal training analysis spreadsheet video, I could have never imagined you would once make it to doing an interview with a World Champion, way to go!
That was good, I miss stuff like that
@@marcvb3364 the montalcino stage video was the best ❤❤
Love the LRPC, happy to hear you guys are going strong next year as well! The Remco interview was definitively a highlight, very insightful. Hope you look for (and get) the chance to do more of those (in depth) conversations, that would be my biggest wish for your year 2024!
Got to LR watching Lance blood thickness analysis, still here today.
Those were the days
and sleep drunk watchalongs
The most memorable day this year was the Stage 17 of the Vuelta. Kuss saves Red by 9 seconds by piping bonies from Landa. Roglic and Jonas previewing 2024's nastiest rivalry.
I really loved the watch-alongs in 2023. You guys usually do it in the 1st week of GTs but I would also love to see you guys do them in the latter part of GTs. Imagine if there was a watch-along for the Monte Lussari TT, Vingegaard's stage 16 TT, or the Jumbo trio drama at Angliru. That would be amazing to see.
Excited to see what's in store for 2024. Keep doing what you guys do.
forgetting jonas time trial in the tour is crazy, for best individual performance
Best performance numberwise for sure (not only for this year, but like the last two decades). Still it’s harder for a TT to „feel“ iconic then a ride in the classics or on a climb.
The teamwork and comradery you share is essential to the success of the podcast. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Lovely to see you are going to make your great content even better! Much appreciated. Fun, well informed, enthusiasm, chemistry, room for emotion and REAL analysis, everything you want from a podcast! Also probably the best and most consistent content anywhere when it comes to women’s cycling.
Hey both I have been watching and supporting you both for a while but i do not think I have ever messaged before. Two pieces of feedback;
1) Really enjoyed the remco interview especially that the questions werent just the vague ones but also specific things about specific races e.g. about the road wc in glasgow. Really helps us understand what is going through their head
2) I think it is obvious you guys put the effort into your content but I don't think it would stick if the audience didn't connect with the people behind the content. Would love to see more content on non- cycling related stuff too, maybe as part of the new biweekly pod? Things like random Andorra stories or movie anectodes are always very interesting to me and im sure many others too!
You guys are such a necessary companion to pro cycling.
You guys are a great addition to the other broadcasts, as they usually focus on the winner, and you guys are always like, what was the no. 2 thinking? why didn't no. 3 save up here? why was no. 4 helping? etc. etc.
love the critical and analytical part!
Still want LRCP bidon merch. Can have as crazy drawing as you want on them.
I can't say enough about how much LRCP means to me. Having watched since the start, I feel so proud to see where you are now. Much respect to you all for the content, for the willingness to interact, for being so "real". I love the candor you guys have and your camaraderie. I so enjoyed your interviews, especially with Remco.
I hate having to play catch up, but that's not your fault. 🤣 I'm happy to play that game for any amount of pods you drop.
Thanks for the pod. Very much enjoyed it!
I would LOVE to see more live watch along commentaries. They are 🔥
I recommend doing it weekly, not biweekly, so the audience can get into a routine.
Yes, and fixed format that respects our time and attention - ideally 30min.
@@silvoslaf I need an hour to drive to work. One hour suits me better
I agree, the only thing that I see as a possible issue is that when there's a dry streak cycling news-wise that some drama gets invented just to fill the time limit of the pod. I don't expect this to happen, but it would ruin for me the good thing that LRCP has got going on.
@@silvoslaf "respects our time and attention" jcf
A weekly show sounds like a great idea, and I'm glad to hear nothing will change about the content!! Looking forward to your guys' stuff next year and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the content. From the west coast of Canada
A live podcast in Flanders would be awesome. Be out there for G-W ride the Kemmel. On the ground preview show of RVV, what’s not to like?! Festive greetings. Have so many more questions 😬👊💚
Merry Christmas guys, keep up the good work!
Patrick, today I helped my parents in their restaurant serving tables, and some food that was sent out on platters to be shared came back unspoiled. Needless to say I dove head first and cleaned it all. Never feel shame for eating leftovers. Leftovers are the best! 😂
Thanks!
Best. Cycling. Podcast. ♥️
10:06 - You're definitely NOT imposters. You guys know your stuff, but you also make it interesting and funny - probably helps that you guys click with each other. Makes the content easy to follow but also educational for relative newbies like me.
I can't think of any other cycling content creator that is close to you in terms of quality content and coverage.
I'm very much looking forward to your 2024 content, especially the weekly podcasts and the real life stuff - watching Benji suffering up the climb was hilarious fun!
Loved the Remco interview. I’ve watched parts of it twice. Great piece. Remco is an interesting cat and it really came through
Weekly show would be great. Also more interviews with riders and personnel.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody! I absolutely loved the watchalongs but in general I trust you guys to make the right content choices. Keep doing what you're doing and I'm looking forward to next year!
Awesome. Just doing a cheeky outdoor weight session in the drizzle. LRCP on Let’s Have It!!
Probably completely out of the picture but the watch alongs but with the race being shown too would be incredible. I feel there's a slight disconnect when you can't see the race.
Thanks for all the work this year folks!
Enjoying the content guys, just keeps getting better!!😊
I just got into cycling in March of this year. I knew absolutely nothing about it and your channel is really helping me not only understand the intricacies of the sport, but also makes me love it even more. You will forever be entwined with the sport of cycling in my mind. Thank you for a great year, guys.
i wanna see pat and benji have performances on the domain of lanterne rouge w/kg graphs by 2025
Thank you for the podcasts enjoying allot have good one next year .
Thank the Lord the core LRCP content will remain unchanged. Hallelujah! Long live LRCP.
Love watchin u guys makkes ma day
thanks for the content in 2023. the remco interview was an absolute highlight and i hope you can do more rider interviews like it
great ad placement at 19:23
Great work guys, keep up with it. Thank you very much. Happy holidays!
Love the ideas both for irl and weekly recap shows
Yes ! Let's go coach! Also First.🎉
Thanks for all the insights, I learn loads from your work and really look forward to everything. Merry Christmas to all
You guys are so great, thank you. I watched the Netflix series this summer and have become increasing deranged about cycling since then and really rely on this podcast to get me through long car rides , doing my laundry, etxc. I’m still putting it all together and my humble request would be just to put people’s faces on the screen during the team preview videos. Like I know many things about Luke Plapp now but I keep having to google him because I haven’t connected name to face... maybe other newish but dedicated fans would also appreciate that? Hope you’re having a nice holidays ad really looking forward to your content next year :))
Happy Christmas 🎄 Cheers for a bigger and better 2024 🍻
Super excited about a weekly show 👍👍 and irl content 😁
I keep meaning to say, I'd love to hear/see Luc occasionally
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year boyz
Can't listen as I have to spend time with 'family'... But leaving a like and wishing you guys a merry Christmas, cheers for many hours of fun!
The live watch a longs with commentary was really good. I often watched it afterwards and the different commentary gives another perspective. It is also quite fun because you notice things you didn't originally and at an hour long it does get boring. I think it would be amazing for certain stages at each GT and maybe even monuments.
Thank you
LRCP + with live coverage for all races.
Love the interviews with riders- long format. Even if it’s with up and comers or domestiques, hearing the reality of the pro peloton is great. Just wish one year you could travel to North America or we could come over for a LRCP fan club classics event.
What are Benji and Luke paid? Is it a percentage of the earnings or fixed? Does Benji do anything else on the side?
Merry Christmas guys 😍
Like the idea of maybe simpler t. Maybe little/smaller front and plain back. Bit stealth.
Keep up the good work lads, favourite podcast
Surely Roglič needs a mention for best individual performance on Monte Lussari?
Monte Lussari TT was definitely my highlight of the year. TdF stages 16-17 were fascinating but that Giro was so close the whole way through. You didn’t know who was going to win!
Nope
2023 was a fantastic year for this podcast, congrats!
Personally, I would like episodes on specific topics regarding how to improve the world of cycling.
Some examples: Tv broadcast format and rights, Uci points, Calendar changings, Specific race rules (3Km neutral) etc...etc...
I like the discussion regardig TV rights and I think that you can create a sort of "think tank" to discuss these kinds of ideas.
Your voice is widely listened and I think that this format could be an other topic that differentiate your product from the others.
The Remco interwiew was very interesting , i hope you'l try to do more of these kind of video
How did I miss that V-LAB announcement as Patrick as a coach. Congrats!
I'm really looking forward to watching you two punters taking on the key Flanders and Roubaix sectors, and showing the world in 2024.
As an Aussie cycling fan and a tourist who's been there, they are so much fun (and challenging). The pro's make them look somewhat easy, so your perspective will be awesome.
My hot take having looked at route:
Wout could do well on GC this race. Lots of flat bonus secs, if he gets in the break and does a Kuss on the raid stage, Jonas can just sit on roglic in future and even if they catch him, he can still finish highly. Given also not many high altitude finishes, and lots of fake news climbs
Group ride in Belgium
I would like a bi-weekly show. Would like an interview like with Remco with Jonas or Roglic!
Loved this, thanks so much LRCP team 🙌
Idea of weekly show sounds brilliant.
Without GCN I fear for our access to women's tour, so very keen to keep across the races and results as you have done.
And agree completely to move Paris Roubaix to October, it worked in the 2020 season it seemed to me?!
A couple of mates and myself are going to the Tour of Flanders for 4 days to do the Saturday etape ride and also watch the main event on Sunday. We are all pretty rubbish cyclists so should be fun to see how we cope! Hope to see you both there!
I dont know how much delay editing creates but a weekly podcast released Monday will be perfect. It will create a consistant content stream and after most races ends on a sunday.
Best place for womens races insight. Watched your highlights over GCNs as your commentary actually said something versus just cobbled together bits for the footage. You offer something there no one else is doing.
juust my two cents, but I feel like your guys' IRL content was so good because cycling youtube content usually falls into one of two distinct buckets - super granular marginal gains type stuff and then the more aesthetic, vlog type stuff. whereas your IRL hill climb stuff tied those two together really nicely. its really enjoyable to see the more granular/data type content in a vlog type arena.
Would love to see a preview in the weekly show of what is coming up in the next week. What smaller races have good start lists or are interesting for whatever reason
I would move the spring Italian races to the autumn, it would add an extra one day, big classic and monument there and all in the same region.
Way to go Benji still the black t shirt underneath
Main selling point of the irl content is to see Benji suffer 😂👍
Go Benji go, make Patrick sweat! :-) You guys are so funny.
You guys riding the RVV and Roubaix would be highly welcomed.
So LR has 1500 watt power for 15 sec
Targeting 5.5 w/kg
Wow! If Benji wasn't his agent, he already be signed by Astana to lead out Cav next year.
Could you maybe do Year Awards or some similar, like tech youtubers do? Best rider, team, race, course, Most dissapointing, etc with runner ups and comments. It's entertaining to watch in more structured way. (or did you do something similar and I just missed it?)
They did this!
For the US fans here’s an interesting one…do a group interview with Sepp/Neilson/Mateo/Magnus/Brandon
Would like to see more pros as guest on your show
Yo, Benji, I think Kim Clijsters would like to have a word with you... Vrolijk Kerstfeest and Happy Christmas boys, thanks!
How is GvA in a cycling hall of fame? I was extremely hyped for his 2016 and 2017, but outside that he was not THAT good. Also feels like he was able to win in a period with less extreme competition.
Idea for content: More historical stuff. You mentioned in the awards show about reviewing the best sprinters seasons in the past e.g. Cav 2009. This would be so interesting. But otherwise, love the show!
It’s actually not that hard to make the money thing work on a joint venture. You have one big pot of money. Then, user watch minutes simply get accumulated for the various rights holders. At the end of the year, the pot gets divided by the total amount of minutes and each right holder gets their share. Amazon is doing this for their self publishing book business that way with pages read (roughly).
Also, congrats to Patrick for becoming the Erik Spoelstra of cycling.
I really hope there’s a GCN successor, otherwise that’s it for me with watching live cycling where I live
265 FTP isn´t that bad
The forced transfer/redistribution discussion had me rolling. 😂😂😂 It would be so entertaining to watch the best of the bestriding on a so-so team. 🤘🤘
Will there be an add free paid membership podcast program?
Looking forward to 2024... (one thing to change might be slightly less F word as i live with some younger cycling fans who could enjoy the podcost but slightly cautious to let them listen-along in case they pick up on the new vocabulary)
Massive agree on the streaming idea, its hell in the US right now.
I really wanna see Benji motorpacing Patrick on an ebike one of these days
I recommend more rider interviews but apart from that it’s all really really good. Maybe Vine for an interview?
Any thought of starting a Patreon? I would happily pay for the privilege of having you two rant in my ear 😁
'24, more post-race tactical analysis vids
In terms of changing the season, how about the suggestion from the Nero guys - a month long mid season break, just like F1.
Love how you forgot about Halloween! I propose contracts go from November 1 to October 30 and have the one day of mismatching bikes and kits on Halloween..lol Good luck for 2024!
If there was a unified TV rights package, could they split the revenues between the teams equally (like the NFL), or would the big teams be able to stop that?
16:30 for a 5km is fast! 5.5w/kg? Patrick is legit!
Also Benji, you're my hero for dragging that Nibali Giro theft back up after moving on. Don't let that speedy sweaterless kiwi get away with that.
i wouldn't mind a pod cast episode about the top 10 clymbing performances, discussing the top itself, how are they top clyclists performing comparated to the last couple of years and so on
This was a good podcast except for the blasphemy of moving Paris-Roubaix to autumn. The best race on the calendar should stay in the spring.
But I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a good New Year! and all the best in 2024!
You guys should do a group ride sometime. Just name the date, time, and place, and I‘m there. And if you want to use the occasion to raise money for charity, I‘ll certainly throw down on the table for that.
5 and half W/kg in a year (starting from 3.5) - are you kidding?
He didn't say if he was going to go for it Natty but yes hard goal for him or anyone.
He does 3.5 for 60 mins this year, but wants to go to 5.5 FTP, which I assume means 20 minutes.
@janbregar2561 even doing 5.5 for 20 is still a humongous difference.
@@Pauleuh do you know his FTP though? I mean given his 60 min power it sounds very ambitious, yes, but we don't know if he can lose like 5+ kgs, because that could make quite a difference
@janbregar2561 he did 260 for 60 a 73kg for 5wkg even losing 5kg he needs 70-80 watts
16.30 5k?
That's fit maaaaaan
