The fact that two 40+ year olds in Punk and Samoa Joe can put on a better match than all of these wrestlers that supposedly have multiple 12 star wrestling matches under their belt says something
It says even more that all of those boys are around 40 and still haven’t learned how to have a match. Omega, Moxley, the old bucks, all still suck.
I love Joe. Not a fan of Punk. But Joe and Punk are legitimate pros. They can cut epic promos, wrestle, and have respect from their fans and peers. Omega and the Bucks I have never saw why people think that they are so great.
This entire match just reeks of Jon Seagal Moxley planning everything out, it must have been a bitter pill to swallow that all their effort into their fued that lead to this, lost them over 200k viewers! 😂

Good point about how these new "fans" say "well you know it's fake, so what's the deal?"....would you pay to see a movie where you can see the green screen, boom mic, wires etc.? Probably not. Wrestling is a skill and had been for generations. Keep it that way and let's not just do shit half assed.
Right, that's like going to see a stage play where the actors are messing up their lines and breaking character, or a rock show where you see them fixing their equipment in the middle of the show.
Exactly the comparison I like to make when marks make excuses for their obviously fake wrestling. Suspension of disbelief is a part of wrestling as much as it is any story or entertainment.
Wanting the ‘fake’ aspects of wrestling thrown in your face and laughed at is because most AEW fans only like wrestling in an ironic postmodern mockery sense.
Wrestling isn’t a movie tho, it’s more like a circus act. And I don’t mind seeing fuck ups in a circus act as long as it’s entertaining.
That’s exactly the difference between this new generation of fans & everyone else, myself included. All we care about is that it makes sense & is believable. And all they care about is how many times you can chant “holy shit” during the match.

Eddie Kingston’s “run” to the ring reminded me of a guy I saw at a White Castle in Vegas trying to run to a bathroom before he took a crap on himself. Unfortunately for everyone, he did not make it.
People who don't see why this is a problem, I have to ask you: would it bother you if you're watching a movie, it stops for 15 seconds so the actors can regroup then go back into character? Cause that's what's happening. The outtakes and bloopers are being brought to the forefront instead of being hidden

The best way I can explain pro wrestling to people who don't get it is by saying "it's like a fight scene in an action movie only live with no cuts in between" unfortunately AEW seems to have left all the cuts between shots in the finished product. Great analogy you made there

Watching that closing segment made me finally get AEW. I thought the segment was a mess, they told 3 stories from 3 shows (ROH,AEW, and NJPW) in 5 minutes. But online fans thought it was the most amazing thing ever.
Then I saw someone comment on another unrelated Cornette video say something interesting. “With the people in Charge of AEW, AEW was alway meant to be PWG.” Then It finally hit me. The way AEW is booked is intentional. It’s not a matter of TK being overwhelmed or inept, he and the Elite are fans of that PWG style. To that group that is the pinnacle of American Wrestling. The chaos of PWG was the foundation for AEW. And like Jim says, the people who like that thing that’s the thing they like.
That’s why AEW hasn’t made big changes in the last 4 years. Because to them and their fans, that is the intended goal. It also speaks to why Cody and Kaz struggled to be apart of it. Guys like Warlow and Hobbs are struggling to find their rhythm. Because AEW isn’t trying to grow necessarily. They really are just trying to put on what they think is an exciting show. Even if it doesn’t make sense.
They're catering to their bubble of Indy fans and in that bubble it's an echo chamber where you hear only positive feedback from those fans.

Matches like this really frustrate me. Spot on with the mention of a new group of wrestling fans. It's a group that doesn't care about passion, emotion, storytelling, or the idea of suspension of disbelief. They just want to see high spots, acrobatics, and injuries.
That's like going to see a theatre production and when someone forgets their lines they just go to someone or grab a script in the midst of the performance to get the lines and then goes back into position and restarts the performance. It breaks the flow of the match, everyone has been taken out of the experience, and just reeks of lack of professionalism.
You don't remember when Clubber Lang whispered to Rocky Balboa in Rocky 3? When Clubber missed punches he said to Balboa,"take over."

Absolutely correct! Been watching wrestling since mid 80's and everything was more protected back then. In modern times wrestlers , well some, just doesnt seem to care. And this is a prime example. The sooner AEW gets rid of the likes of Moxley and Young Bucks, the better.

Blackpool is a seaside town in the Northwest of England less than an hour away from where I live and to most people is recognised as an arcetypical English seaside destination with a funfair, water parks, a Zoo, a famous Tower, trams, piers (boardwalks), ice cream, rock, donkeys, bingo and tacky hotels and B&Bs. The only time you are really likely to see combat in Blackpool is outside one of the numerous bars or nightclubs in the town.
Blackpool is not a destination that puts fear into the hearts of anyone who hears it's name.

We all know movies are fake to, but no one wants to see the actors going over their lines, or hearing the director, during the movie.
I was given Moxley's book as a Christmas gift. Full disclaimer: I never asked for it. Someone who doesn't know anything about wrestling went to a book store and asked for "newer wrestling book" so as not to give me something I already had. A clerk who claimed to know all about wrestling, which I call bullshit on, picked out Moxley's book.
I have only managed to read 28 pages thus far. That's all I could stomach. The book is written the way Moxley talks.
So far in those 28 pages..
1.) Moxley has admitted to having used crack cocaine at one point in his life (I'm not sure he ever got off of it).
2.) Moxley believes that young aspiring wrestlers shouldn't have a college education to fall back on if wrestling doesn't work out for them because that's a crutch that will ensure they fail.
3.) Also WWE apparently gave him boxes and boxes of his action figures which he gave some to friend and family and either dumped or donated the rest. He could have easily have taken them to a GCW show or some other outlaw indy mudshow and sold them off for a nice chunk of change.
I've seen this done. A former WWE wrestler was featured on a local promotion in my area. During the intermission he was sat at the gimmick table selling pictures, shirts, and whatnot like everyone else. He also had a big box of his WWE action figures that he was selling as well.
It’s was dope, it was like Rambo 5th Blood 2. Yeah.
The fact all this drew under 700k tells you all you need to know

AEW Collision's six man main event was better than Dynamite's six man main event. None of this ballerina cosplay 10 million false finishes wrestling just professional wrestling how it should be. Ratings prove everybody tunes out when the brokeback elite turn up.

Of course the Observer rated this match high. All Hardlys matches start at five stars and go up, depending on how much Uncle Dave liked the match. It's been a couple of years since a Hardlys match has gotten less than five stars.
