I really like Butcher and Blade as a fan of theirs this was a big disappointment. They're tough looking heels they shouldn't be doing comedy.

I think Bryan is right. Cornette can't seem to grasp the idea that modern wrestling isn't the way it is because people involved don't know better but rather because this is what they actually like and want it to be.

The butcher is a big rugged old-school type of wrestler. I would much rather see Stan Hansen types than all these 180 lb fratboys.

Worst ref in wrestling is the one from Cody vs Eddie K. I’ve watched him do blade handovers mid match, call spots and just look overly scripted in every match like he’s just waiting for each spot.

This match was awesome. I don’t get why he doesn’t like butcher and the blade. They are literally everything he talks about when it comes to a tag team he’d want. I get AEW isn’t his style, but when a match is good he can’t admit it. Also this match had over a million viewers so they did something right. To each their own though, clearly he knows what he’s talking about with how successful smoky mountain was. Such a legendary promotion that everyone loves.

I agree with you on the rest though: B&B is the kind of oldschool themed tag team Cornette is supposed to like. He just doesnt understand what they're supposed to be portraying, because he never saw Gangs Of New York. And they're still a bit green, especially on this national platform. They have what, 3 years under their belt? It shows, but they're improving fast. Just too bad they are being used as extras in a Bucks vs FTR buildup. B&B shouldnt drop off the map now. They've been doing a way better job than the sloppy Lucha Bros. I hope AEW took note of this.
Staal Hard They had a good win in the 8 man, and I know they get wins on dark. I think they are going to start getting wins after this. Also I think butcher is the only green one, and the blades been around for a while. I will say this for being in a band full time, and few years of wrestling butcher is really stepping up. They will for sure get a title run down the road. Two weeks ago, and the other night they proved they can hang.

Necro Phoenix I think they sell really well, and they’ve for sure have raised their stock since their debut. They should of had vignettes before they debuted since they weren’t a really big name on the indies.
Emmet Ryan I’m just glad tag team wrestling is a big deal, and proven draw in AEW. I’ve been a huge tag team fan since the beginning. It’s just nice that the tag team titles feel like actual world titles, just in a different division. Like how in UFC/boxing all the world titles have the same value for the most part, but are just different weight divisions. Whoever wins the belts next it’s going to be a big deal. I think having hangman/omega with the belts was a good move, because Kenny Omega adds the former world champ level to it (whether you like him, or not)

jim's criticisms are right on the money. my one complaint is AEW should be applauded for trying to put over the lesser stars. i remember watching WCW as a kid, and none of the superstars would help the new guys
That mud show sign was awesome 😂. I don't know why they were cutting meat in the back room . The ending was terrible because butcher and blade got buried for no good reason . They needed this win to solidify them for the tag title picture at some point . Jim and Brian spot on as usual.

I enjoyed it personally, even though that spot with the escalator seemed needlessly dangerous (and the Falls Count Anywhere stipulation seemed to exist solely to enable the backstage stuff rather than because of the storyline).
They probably tuned in hearing about Kingston, then sat down and went "never mind, still lolAEW" and left after this.

Search for "jim cornette raw shoot promos" from the 90's, think theres 3 or 4 of them before creative wanted to "contribute" ideas and he just said "fuck it, if you tell me what to say and not say, it's not a shoot" and stopped doing them.

@N K you tell me if you were advertising you product or business with a add campaign would you want 1 mil out of 80 mil to see it? You don't seem to understand that there are so many more ways to get a program today that if that put on a show worth watching more people would be able to get it. With you 70's knowledge less then half of the homes in the US could even get cable, those were regional numbers. Which makes the draw of the current product even worse. They really need to be able to attract more then basement dwelling virgins.

@@lloydsharpe7641 Some of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing don't look like badasses, so I don't really understand this argument about wrestlers having to look tough, lol. Did Ultimo Dragon look tough? If wrestling is supposed to be a mimick of an actual sport, then all manner of guys are gonna look like the vast spectrum of fighters that exist in actual combat sports. HBK never looked tough yet he's one of the most celebrated guys in the business. Looking tough doesn't mean that you're tough, which is why so many insecure people do steroids and hit the gym yet are weak-minded and couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. It's silly to equate looking tough with actually being a good fighter.
It would be nice if the Bucks would stop with gimmick matches. They’re so athletic it bums me out. The Butcher and the Blade are great... and they’re just getting buried by the Bucks every other week.

Absolutely spot on review. I really dislike the Bucks. They try to be funny on BTE, then expect to be taken seriously on Dynamite. And they fail on both counts
If WWE’s demographic is 10 year olds then BTE’s is 6 year olds. Why make so much noise on Twitter about WWE, only to replicate it and then turn up the dial?

@@llad.7181 do you have to post this in every single comment, as if it means anything? real housewives of beverley hills got 1.4 million viewers. averaged, not the last five minutes or whatever it was with AEW. something called "Married At First Sight" got 1.2 million viewers. you're totally allowed to be happy that the last few minutes of AEW got "X number of viewers with even-numbered ages with a T in their name" or whatever demo, as people boredly turned to the channel when the shit they were actually watching ended, but let's not cherrypick data points. post that in every single comment once they start averaging a million, start to finish, every show. i'll wait.

I didn’t hate this match I actually think Butcher and Blade have potential if they’re booked a certain way. The bucks just want so much attention they’re like infants trying to get daddy Khan to notice them.
Kinda sad that they not only accept but embrace their mud show tendencies, rather than improving the product.
