It's not a scripted loss.
It is easy to see how one might think that though.
@@AHorrorFanatic Almost every let's player who starts out F&H initially assumes it is.
Technically it is if u don't know what to do
@@iring6572 thats now how scripted works
Might as well be
I should point out that "Severe anal bleeding" is a status effect in this game
You only get it from loosing a coin toss to a Guard in the prison...
Unless there's somewhere else you can get it that I'm a
Unaware of?
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Night Lurch can just jump you in the overworld and just give you the status. Not sure how frequent that is since by the time i get to one of these bastards i usually wear penance armor, but it has happened to me
😥 you don't want to know what happens to make you bleed down there...and if you did find out, then my condolences.
Copious amounts of sodomy by the huge "stinger" of the Guards.
@@csargent31I would have to imagine it's them pulling a Fleece Johnson.
Airier: Let’s watch something safer instead!
Also Airier, 1 minute later: *I regret my decisions*
To be honest it's kinda funny if you think about it Xd
I wouldn’t call Fear and Hunger an 8-bit Elden Ring. Elden Ring’s world doesn’t care about the player, F&H’s meanwhile wants to make you suffer.
Also, Funger aint 8-bit
"Let's do something safer"
**chooses fear and hunger**
I chose poorly.
@@Airier Lol, I feel you bud
Scug :)
This game is a tight ball of knots that you have to untangle carefully one knot at a time.
And the rope is made of barbed wire.
And the barbed wire is dipped in poison.
And you're being hunted by wolves while you're doing this.
and also the wolves have laser guns.
And you step on a rusty nail while running.
@@aaronbozack830 *The rusty nail is also covered in poison.*
@@drakkenmenschand you’re downing a metric fuckload of PCP
And everything is on fire. Including you.
4:58 "why is he blurring the arm?"
The guy is slitting his wrist/cutting off his hand with the sword. CZcams doesn't like suicide/gore, so he's blurring it for monetization.
But it's not blurred in other times that same image is shown before and after that.
For a more indepth lore explanation, the channel "Worm Girl" has a good video going over the story of the first game trying to figure out which parts of which endings is "canon" according tothe second game.
she talks to fast. I wish she has english captions.
She also spoils all of the lore, so if you want to experience that yourself first, I wouldn't advise watching it until you're satisfied playing.
@@Aztyph yes, an indepth lore video spoils the lore... that's kind of intrinsic to the description of the content.
ah one of the few rpgs with "anal bleeding" status
"Few"???
You mean there are others besides this one?
@@akenohononiku916 "roll for anal circumference"
@@akenohononiku916mostly hentai themed ones
the best review of this game i have read is "this game is berserk only your the side-character"
Very fun fact: instead of cutting off both of the Ogre's legs, you could chop off his """stinger""" to make him double over and lose balance to land the headshot.
Not really, at least that doesn't work for me on Terror and Starvation. Though that works on Cave Dwellers in the first game and that guy with a meat mallet in the second one.
Doesn't work on the Prison Guards, only on the Cave Dwellers.
You go for the arm with the meat cleaver, guard, go for the stinger and one leg, guard, go for the other leg AND finally you go to the head.
As a person who just got the fear and hunger series just a couple of week ago, you are in for a rides
he should stream it. probably the censored version for obvious reasons
@Sethoshini95 I've seen plenty of LPs here on CZcams that don't need to censor the gore and genitals, though those are small channels, and probably aren't monetized, but still...
I love how he sells the intrigue of the game and making you want to experience it yourself
Also, the second game pretty much removes all the disturbing sex stuff and you can just play it instead of this
I mean....HE is still in the second game, just not AS morally scuffed
@@thezambambo2184yeah it is just more subtle
0:41 “I know what I’m getting into”
Honestly, if there was one creator on the platform I would have *no* idea what’s coming next, it would be SuperEyepatchWolf.
Sure, it might be worrying in some way, but you never know *quite* how things are going to go.
A Berserk inspired Rouguelike RPG-esc Survival Simulator where every enemy functions like a dragon encounter in DnD. Yep, that's cruel.😂
"I decided to chose somethign SAFER!"
You have chosen.....poorly.
If I had a nickel for every time that happened. I don't have a $1.50, but that isn't exactly a good statistic either. 😅
I would honestly say that Fear and Hunger (and it's sequel Termina even more so) is a game of the same type as Elden Ring and Tears of the Kingdom in the sense of *"the devs clearly gave up trying to make the game balanced a long time ago"*
The key diference here is Elden Ring and TOTK at least have a tutorial to make sure you at least have a semblance of a idea of what you're doing, Fear and Hunger just trows you into the deep end not caring if you're gonna "figure it out" or not (at least in the sequel there's a few panflets in the begining area that teach the basics.... it's also REALLY easy to miss those panflets by the way), wich means that for a long time the game will be unbalanced in a unfavorable way to you
On the bright side, if you do eventualy figure the game out, it becomes A LOT MORE easier and the satisfaction from doing so is almost palpable, on the hand though, the road to that point is definetely gonna hurt
Oh this is gonna be a fun one, personally i prefer the setting of second game but this one is cool too
Funny thing is wolf only scratched the surface of what you can do in this game, he didn't mention sigils or talent tress :p
This and its sequel Termina are great and terrible, filled with violence, mutilation, and ancient gods.
10/10 would recommend to those who are not super sensitive!
1:36
Airier: "...oh yeah,i know exactly where this is going"
*Airier did in fact, not know where this was going.*
the game has a censored mod for youtubers. ConnorDawg did a playthrough and got one ending in around a hour the game has a lot of endings
Its not a scripted loss. He is just deecribing something that can happen. If you know what youre doing then it wont.
safer he said ... SAFER
As I have discovered, I don't make wise decisions. 😅
@@Airier mood
Should we mention the Dungeon Nights mode or let him discover it by himself?
Fun fact, that bookcase hiding a secret passage needs a book called the Mockup Book to open, which, as far as I know, can only be found in the small library of the first area of the dungeon.
One of the best things about Fear and Hunger (1 and 2) is that it is so unapologetic with it's inspirations. I mean they stole JESUS CHRIST.
To be fair, despite being so blatant in his inspirations, Miro still manages to do something interesting with it that makes the end product his own, instead of just a 1:1 copy. For example, Alll-Mer (the Jesus/Yeshua expy) has some very interesting wrinkles that are elaborated upon, especially in _Termina._
@@Aztyph True but I find it kinda funny that he stole Jesus Christ of all people
It makes sense though, probably one of the most influential people that has ever existed
@@Armorion “stole Jesus Christ of all people”. Why is that surprising? It’s not like other two old gods aren’t allusions to other predominant or formerly predominant religions.
Sounds like it really puts the "horror" back into survival horror,... despite not being that kind of game.
isn-t it that type of game?
@@-AndreaAndromeda-
Hm, maybe.
It’s literally a survival horror
I thought we already established a decade ago that RPG Maker is fully capable of being scary like any other horror game (see: Ib, Witch’s House, Omori, etc.)
@@BelBelle468
Hm, fair enough, and my mistake.
Though to be clear, I meant the "survival horror" genre Resident Evil is credited with making, despite Sweet Home. There was never any question of it being scary. I mean, you remember when people complained about RE7 somehow _not_ being survival horror due to it being scary? (Yes, really.)
“Why?”
It’s fun. Plain and simple.
This really isn't all that accurate depiction of the game. Like there are dozens of secrets that can help you out that SEW didn't even figure out yet.
He thinks Sylvia is the final boss... he doesn't know about the God of The Depths, nor the God of Fear and Hunger.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Yeah, I love SEW's videos and he usually does great research, but this video he made while still being a noob at the game.
@@HORRIOR1 well, it is about the experience of a blind playthrough as he discovers more and more mechanics, items, features, tricks, and so on...
I would argue that this ignorance is the game. You can`t really offer a more accurate depiction of it than showing the slow process of figuring out the secrets and mechanics.
I can't wait when you get to the sequel.
This game remind me of a dnd gm video by Web Dm about sport combat and war combat
Where sport combat is fighting a fair fight to the deat, while war combat is you trying to get any advantages on monsters that will do the same. So in sport combat you would stand and fight to the death, while war combat you would dig spike traps throw burning oil and sent the dogs on your enemies
Ah, the "Good times rhymes with war crimes!" Approach.
I'm going to say... Elden RIng is way more forgiving and kind than that game...
by the way, Hades is super cool, i totally recommend it
Definitely. I just had it as "to play" for ages, but when I finally got around to it, the hype hadn't over sold it.
And unless you're speed-running, you don't need to worry to much about reflexes, as much as staying calm.
"I would never do this willingly" All right, how much we gotta pay ya?
"I play unwillingly"
F&H in a nutshell:
"ooh, a *Red Vial,* that must be a health potion!"
If you ever feel like playing there is a mod that covers… things with pinecones so you could actually stream the game
There's also a big door with a.....crow...on it?
🌚
:) Thanks for this reaction, I kind of feel the the same way, almost wanting to play, but seeing a lot to discourage me.
In a far less disturbing, but tangential vein to this, another _"Russia simulator"_ game, that's incredibly lauded, but almost no-one has completed, despite articles calling the most important game in decades, would be Pathologic and the _'Pathologic is Genius, And Here's Why'_ video would be a great watch, as well as an explanation why there's currently two remakes of a game so few people stuck with.
Definitely a game that can produce an enthralling experience, but, for most people, one that's best experienced in dissection.
As to _Hades,_ I simply booked marked it for ages, but last Christmas I was without internet and I can't recommend enough just jumping in: if you don't have speed runner reflexes, it merely a prompt to play more cautiously and defensively, which is normally sensible anyway; I preferred ranged weaponry for a long time due to that and though I resisted until I'd beaten it once, the rogue-lite elements mean you can literally buy 2 extra lives.
You can get items from corpses, you just have to press enter of them and then search them. The game does not tell you this.
I think that removed scene was the orgy in the woods so what do we have to do to get Airier to play this i mean he still hasnt finished Corpse Party I think 😊
Airier what is funny that is not a scripted game over that is just the game 😱
Funnily enough, the Hydra is actually the LEAST difficult enemy. It doesn't do anything other than spew empty threats at you since it can't move on its own.
Personally, my interest in hard games comes from childhood, in feeling satisfaction when understanding difficult things: aka "things that people older than me knew" back then. I remember the first time the concept of mathematical equations "cliqued" in my brain as a kid, opening up a world of possibilities I didn't even know of. So to this day, few things inject more dopamine in my brain than learning/realizing new information. Thus why I enjoy games that are considered "unfair". While I ADORE casual games too, like Stardew Valley, they are not interchangeable. One experience keeps my brain serene and ready to learn, the other sharpens it and helps me to learn how to process stress in a safe environment. Too much of any is bad (for me, at least).
Cant wait for the next part. And yes, if you fail the coin toss while trying to save - you die.
what is sad/funny what you saw is not the worst of it if anything that was the least 🤬 thing that can happen to you.
... 😶😯😨
Yeah. The game has the Adults Only warning on Steam for a reason. It's a great but grueling series of games, but I can 100% understand people not being willing to check it out, as a lot of the content is genuinely disturbing and could trigger someone. The warning at the beginning of the game is the equivalent of finding a bag in the refrigerator that's marked ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴅᴏᴠᴇ; ᴅᴏ ɴᴏᴛ ᴇᴀᴛ on it.
He is right though, you can theoretically beat this game on your first attempt in under an hour. Just as you can theoretically beat Magnus Carlson in a chess game in which the both of you need to cut off one of your own fingers or toes each time you lose a piece while you're also solving a 1-hour escape room when Magnus is taking each of his turns. Same thing 🥰
You should really check out the animation "New God" by Boalizard, because it's so damn good and summarises the plot of F&H decently well for anyone already roughly familiar with it
Once part 2 is out Ill try and list what I remember from the uncut version before the folks at youtube HQ took away my precious shock-value
About the saving question, there are if I remember correctly 2 methods of saving, Beds but all but one of the has a coin flip and the last one has you fight [Spoilers] first, and the rare item that is a Book of Enlightenment.
Suggestion, check out "what does each Strive character theme mean?" By GekkoSquirrel. It's funny, analytical AND you don't explicitly NEED to already know the game to get his points.
But... watching Woolie's Giulty Gear lore series is also hilarious, even though(or maybe because) he's playing it completely straight.
Please consider watching the Rerez channels 'Just Bad Games' series at some point. They pretty much go around looking for inexcusably bad games, review the gamplay and story, and go into the development processes/histories for them (if there *is* any). The thumbnails for each video should give you a good idea of the tone of the series, lol
Yeah. I think we found something worse than Corpse Party for you here. ^_^
This game don't seems cruel for the cruel sake, but cruel to force you to play in the most fun way possible
Oh no it is indeed cruel for cruel sake consdering its luck based and some things can kill you or ruin your run out right but it does have logic that "losing is fun"
@@lop90ful1 its not exactly luck based, since you can literally win the game in the normal difficulty with the worst luck possible with enough knowledge...so basically its more like its knowledge based, if you know the best way in the situation, you take it
THIS GAME LITERALLY SENDS A R%$E MONSTER TO KILL YOUR CHARACTER WHEN YOU TRY TO SAVE YOUR GAME!!!
@@lop90ful1It tells you don't fight, think instead and explote any advantages. Your charactor might lose all their power but you got smarter
The point of the coin tosses is to discourage you from that course of action I think
Making treasures a coin toss means you shouldn't rely on getting a good item
A battle with an instakill coin toss means you should probably avoid getting into that battle in the first place
I have no justification for making saves a coin toss though, other than possibly training you for the hardest difficulty, which forbids saves entirely
It's Stockholm Syndrom, Airier.
Stockholm Syndrome.
...
You asked what it's called when you "love your captor".
In reality tho, Stockholm syndrome is a misnomer. The original circumstance was preferring captors over the police since the police were bad at their job and were risking the captor’s lives. They felt “safer” with the captors cus the police were shooting at the hostages
Cant wait for the part 2 of his reaction. XD
Oh. You skipped the various "what the Internet did to X" videos, and the (actually pretty good) wrestling videos, and went straight to "If Kentaro Miura was a game dev instead of a mangaka". (that's the guy who made Berserk)
The dev is... Finnish? It's one of the Scandinavian countries.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC I know, I just meant that the game has a lot in common with Berserk. Not just in style, but also thematically.
when you play this game, its all about knowledge which makes it so good, learning about the familiar yet alien world of fear and hunger is really fun. Its challenging because you don't know anything, the more you know the easier it becomes. After completing the game the first time, the next run will be easier and more satisfying. There are still stuff up to chance, but its really not that hard once you understand everything. Its not like you need fast reaction time or anything
Im late to the video but holy crap you actually started reacting to Fear and Hunger! Much appreciate. Hopefully you wont feel...well not disappointed but wont feel bored by it in some form
so basicallly u watched the most realistic rpg that ever made there is no such thing as plot armour
Guy chose Fear and Hunger for *safe* option
fear and hunger is a game I want to recommend but can't in good mind as some of the stuff is pretty bad
To be fair, it wasn't intended to get rhis big I think
It was literally just nothing more than a school project
About that title.
1. It's not 8 bit.
2. Eldin Ring could NEVER
Ogre fighting for dummies: have ≈70 power, attack the cleaver arm, guard to autopass the coin flip. Then, just kill the bad guy, guarding on each 3'th turn to avoid getting destroyed.
28:45 you will lose your save if you fail the bed or don't use a book of enlightenment.
how it is 8bit Elden Ring when it was released before that game
Time travel. It's the only solution!
😁
It's not 8-bit Elden Ring. It's 16-bit Berserk.
Also Terror and Starvation is basically a NG+ mode, but instead of anything carrying over it changes enemy placements and doubles up on some encounters, it's meant for people who have played Fear and Hunger who want to change things up.
This is the kinda series that earned its AO rating. I'm surprised CDawg and now Ironmouse streamed it.
Im surprised John used Neural Cloud music
If you enjoy these game analysis videos from Super Eyepatch Wolf I'd suggest watching 'How Mother 3 Breaks You'
I've always been intrigued with the game especially since Nintendo never released in outside Japan
This game seems more like Berserk than Dark Soul, and I never even play Dark Soul to know how hard that game is, kind of awesome for a niche game concepts
_Demon's_ and _Dark Souls_ were also inspired by _Berserk…_ but if you mean, "Man, the inspiration in _Fear & Hunger_ is a lot more apparent," you'd be 100% right. Ragnvaldr (the Outlander) is a close analogue to Guts; while D'arce, Le'gard, and the Midnight Sun are heavily inspired by Casca, Griffith, and the Band of the Hawk, respectively. As you can imagine, these are far from the only references, but they and its grimdark setting are the most apparent ones.
Yes I have been waiting for this I asked airier to react to this for so long
Would you believe this is a couple years faster than some of the other things I got to?
I'm REALLY slow when it comes to recommendations. 😅
I wouldn't call this game 8-Bit Elden Ring, it's far too gruesome and creepey, it'd call it Berserk-like and it gets better, this game has a sequel
spoiler alert:

this floating head is one of if not the most useful possible party members, he's also very difficult to recruit if you don't know how
"Safer"
I don’t think that was a clip of spelunky 2 near the beginning, the jet pack didn’t blow up on contact with lava
For me, it's not about whether a game is challenging or punishing, high skill or low, what matters to me is the depth of the mechanics. Give me a game with systems that interact with one another and mechanics to reverse engineer, and make it deep enough that I can read about all the various systems for hours, and I am one happy camper, it's why I love PoE so much.
It's also why I haven't played Fear and Hunger, or its sequel, because I can see already that it's a game that would consume my life for a few months at least, and I'm not ready for that commitment right now.
Please finish this video really enjoyed your thoughts on it
The best game I ve played since Elden ring , crazy stuff
The game is 30% off on steam atm, so for $5.59 you can see if you find something he didnt hahaha

Oh boy my favourite game! Gonna enjoy watching you reacting to this Stockholm syndrome of a game!
Stockholm syndrome. I know someone else probably said it already, but yeah.
p.s. airier that hurt. I unpause and wolf starts talking about how it released in 2018 and your first response is "oh it's old". please let me hold on to my shred my happiness of the "old" times dear god lol
Play the game ❤❤❤
Just do what I do: just play the game for yourself
with the game's wiki open on your phone
Done that SO many times when finding farming locations.
if you think of Fear and Hunger as a survival horror game and not an RPG it makes a lot more sense. Also, sometimes when you lose enemies will SA your character.
WHen you start with "Sonic The Hedgehog is to much for me." but I'm watching your video and I know how much worse what your about to get into is. O_O
Cdaghva made a vedio on this game also that goes into a different topics of the game
Maybe watch the Sonic Fandubs series if you want something genuinely good. 😂

The one about the unreality of pro wrestling is one that I found fascinating… but really, he can't go wrong with watching any of them first.
@Aztyph I totally agree, but watching the first one would give enough context about wrestling to wah the entire series out of order after that.
