Great words. I celebrate my consistency and my discipline daily . That's exactly what make a better person than I used to be. Using these new values I improved massively my relationship with my wife and my son.
Ive often thought that my burpee training has taught me to be more realistic and forgiving of myself and, by extension, my kids. I used to beat myself up working out with very intense weight training sessions. I was almost always in pain. After having switched to BDT for the past 5 months, however, im now seeing the same level of fitness with zero pain and so much more satisfaction. I'm trying to instill a forgiving, satisfying, wholesome view of themselves in my kids' minds. BDT has helped me aquire some of that for myself so I can speak to them with more experience and insight now. Thank you for this!
Closing in on 40 now with 3 kids as a single dad. I see the BDP as resilience training, applicable to parenting and many other life challenges. It really does make everything else seem easier. Training out the excuses and working toward your goals no matter how you feel about it. It is empowering.
Thank you for this perspective on the practice, Max. We can all see how authentically this has transformed your life, and frankly, it's inspiring. I have *miles* more energy as well as much greater willpower and resistance to frustration thanks to the practice. All of this has made me a better father and husband. What is interesting is that commitment is contagious. Being a burpee practitioner sparked the curiosity of my wife and two children. They saw me getting after it week in and week out, and they wanted in. They are now doing their own versions of the program: the Busy Mom Program and the Busy Kid Program 😂. The PRs we actually should be after are ones related to the strength of our relationships and to the magnitude of our positive influence on those around us. Thanks for the reminder, and keep leading the way, Max.
Well said thank you for this. I started burger training with my son this week we are at 50 burpees at the moment. Really appreciate your videos thanks again.
I actually really need to get back into it. I'm struggling max. Feeling very deflated. Gaining weight again. I just got to this weird point in my training where I was getting so anxious and nervous to train and it ended up making me stop completely. I really really need to try and get back into it. I was level 3 as well. Would you suggest starting with the lower levels again just to get back into the structure? Any advice would be absolutely great. Btw, the beard looks epic brother.
My man, I recommend setting a new baseline and going from there. Test back into the program and get started! And if you need an extra push, why not work with me directly? If you're interested, reach out: busydadtraining@gmail.com
Thank you max. I'm gonna get back into the swing. I went from 16stone to 12st 4lbs last year. This year I've got back over 13st. Just really need to get back to it
Good talk Max, been following you for a while and have one of your books on burpees (the one you wrote with Lee). For those of us who do other kind of calisthenics workouts throughout the year like progressive calisthenics is there a way to add in the Busy Dad Program burpees ? Like maybe add the 6 count on one day of the week while doing progressive calisthenics/rings and the next week do the navy seal burpees instead ...or will this take away from BDP ? ...also, I see the channel grew more since the last time I saw it 👍 stay well
Hello my friend -- I'm sorry for the delayed response. If I were going to try to combine the BDP with another training practice, I might cut down to 40 minutes per week, and fo one seal session and one 6-ct session each week. Any more than that, and BDP might interfere with my main training practice, but any less than that and I doubt one could make much progress with burpees. Hope this helps!
started watching your vids yesterday, and i must say, they are inspiring. I am 46 and have not yet obtained some of these personal qualities you speak of. also a couple years ago I had a lower back injury with a bulged disc - it doesn’t give me any problems now as long as I keep my back form straight. Any advice for starting off given my background? thank you sir
Hello my friend! My advice would simply be to test in to the program, taking it VERY EASY at first, and start working your way upward. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to work with me directly! (busydadtraining@gmail.com)
Hello majestically bearded dads and majestically bearded people everywhere! (Great video Max, I share your personal feelings about my own training practice and how it helps me be present as a father to my own boys)
Can you do a video on injuries..? Once I get to 40x 6 counts my shoulders hurt. Previously I have hurt my lower back and wrist. Would like to know how you prevent injuries and what you do to fix them.
Tendons and ligaments take a lot longer to strengthen than muscles, you need to go easy on yourself and allow the time for your wrists etc. to catch up, keep training but maybe ease off the numbers and focus on form for a while, only push for PRs every few weeks based on how you feel.
I find if you're technique gets sloppy that's when pain and injuries come in, and as you get more tired that's inevitable. Don't worry about numbers just try and keep rock solid form throughout your workouts.
I second what these guys say. Be patient with the sessions and focus on super stirct form. It'll help you stay safe. If you'd like to work with me directly, feel free to reach out at busydadtraining@gmail.com
