- I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Mono-Black Scam, a deck from Patreon subscriber Jon. Grief plus Reanimate "scam" strategies are well-established in both Modern and Legacy Magic. Usually, the scam strat is the curve starter for a blue value deck or the fallback plan in a combo deck. This aggro-stompy deck leans on the newer Stalactite Stalker as an additional high-impact one-drop to get ahead and stay there with lock pieces like Opposition Agent in mono-black with no additional colors for help! I'm back in black! MTG

FYI: Both Powder Keg and Null Rod are reserve listed. So even if the maindeck doesn't have any RL cards, the sideboard does. Keg can become Ratchet Bomb pretty easily, but there's not a good replacement for Null Rod, and that's the one that's pushing $100 a copy.

@@outfoxies Very different card, as it's a lot easier to remove and costs a lot more, plus you aren't getting full use out of it without a sideboard made to have at least a few targets. Null Rod is great because you can drop it turn 1 or 2 easily and it leaves artifact based decks with few or no outs.

just thought id point out null rod is reserve list and also the most expensive card in paper.

The exact deck um currently using. Havent seen the video yet but I know Goblins is a horrible match.
This deck's definitely on the cheaper end, but moxfield still lists the price around $1600-2k :( orcish bowmaster is an expensive ass card for how new it is
I think you can easily knock $300 from this by choosing cheaper printings. $10 each bowmaster, $50 each from some of the fetches, $60 from the dark rituals, $100 from the basics, etc.

Copy my lists and filter by cheapest. I have a lot of Beta in my collection that it pulls from when I make the deck.
@@BoshNRollohh gotcha. Not super familiar with Moxfield's interface. I like their website, but Topdecked has a mobile app so I can check cards at work :)
Isn’t Feed the Swarm a clean answer to Marit Lage, or am I missing something?
Another guy suggested Pernicious Deed as an answer to lands which I'm assuming he suggested to kill Marit Lage for X=0.
I think you are all forgetting Marit Lage is indestructible, you need an exile or sacrifice effect.
It also wouldn't be so great because it's a Sorcery and Marit Lage is often created in the end step so it can immediately attack and win.

I might be missing something, but wouldnt a single Bayou and 3 Pernicious Deed in the SB make the Lands.dec matchup 1000x better?
What would Pernicious Deed do that an Edict doesn't? I guess it stops the Saga plan cleanly but it doesn't help with Marit Lage which is the main thing you are boarding for in that matchup.
I dont think Deed solves anything that Powder Keg doesnt. The deck has a solid plan for the Urza's saga part of lands. The deck fails to interact profitably with the 20/20 indestructible flyer plan.
