@@alchemist1202 @Stephen Fawking - Maybe he thought that after 1.Bxa5 b6 2.Bc3 Bxf3 3.Kxf3 Bxg5 he lost the pawn anyway. but maybe he overlooked he have 2.Bd2 instead of Bc3. after 2.Bd2 he protects the g5 pawn. maybe he saw Bd2 as well but he don't like 2...Rd8 after which black have lot's of compensation...
Usually a bad move to trade away your good bishop just to gain material. You will be left with one useless bishop which is hitting your own pawns and cannot attack your opponents pawns.

I think he saw that but didnt want to give up Bishop pair for a pawn. I dont think it wouldnt be enough compensation.
He didn't want his Nf3 pinned by the bishop, hence he moved the King first.
