    Lisa, I grow Black Krim instead of Paul Robeson because for me in California, I get a good harvest....and they are delicious. Paul Robeson only gave me a few delicious tomatoes and died. Could be due to our climate here. But since I only have a small space, need a tomato that does well for me. Love your tasting videos.😊

      Oh ok, I totally understand! Black Krim is good, and I am getting a lot of them. I have a bunch of Paul Robeson too, but they are still green! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ Come back again, I'll be doing more taste tests. I have several more tomatoes to taste. I want at least 3 or 4 favorite tomatoes. 😉😉😉 Thank you for watching!!

    Yellow Brandywines are my favorite, if I can truly have one as someone who barely likes tomatoes. They are meaty and savory. Have you tried the chefs choice pink? Those are sweet and slightly acidic.

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  Před 14 dny

      I grew that one from your suggestion last year! 😊😊 I like it! I never had the Chefs Choice pink. Is it good? Next taste test will include Black Brandywine and Kelloggs Breakfast. I will post it later this week or the weekend. Do you like the big tomatoes? You will love the Kellog's Breakfast. It's yellow like the Yellow Brandywine, but it's huge! But, it's not acidic like the red tomatoes. Thanks for watching Ms Ebony! Always good to chat with you!! 😊😊

    I grew a black krim by accident this year, it was mislabeled at the plant swap, and it actually handled the humidity and bugs as well as the hybrids. I really liked the flavor compared to a red tomato. I might try Paul Robeson next year and see how it holds up. I am interested to taste one 👍

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  Před 21 hodinou +1

      I love the taste of those like dark tomatoes. My Paul Robeson doesn't seem to handle heat well, but it produces an unbelievable amount of tomatoes and then it dies! 😒😒 But, Paul Robeson tomatoes are the best tasting tomatoes of them all to me!!! I also like the Cherokee Purple and Black Brandywine. Those two gets real close to the PR in taste more than Black Krim. I guess the darker the tomato, the better the taste. Darker tomatoes, like black, brown, and purple varieties, are more nutritious than lighter tomatoes because they contain higher levels of lycopene, vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium. They are considered as Super Foods. Ms Linda, TNOG said it in one of her Lives and I read it!

    I like to grow a lot of different tomato varieties because I find that every year different ones seem to do really well while others do more poorly than past years. Cherokee Purple is so good, but it is very crack prone in my garden. Paul Robeson is my favorite smoky dark type tomato, but I wish my fruit would get as big as my Mortgage Lifter & delicious fruit get!

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  Před 19 dny +2

      Oh wow! I didn't know that about the Cherokee Purple. I was going to get the Mortgage Lifter variety as well, but I already had so many I didn't know where I was going to grow all these tomatoes. Maybe next year. I still have Black Brandywine, Box Car Willie, Carbon, Pineapple, Black Beauty, and Kellogg's Breakfast. I think that's all of them. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I'm not going to test the paste tomatoes. Why does your Paul Robeson not produce a bigger fruit? Mine don't that big. Some are bigger than others. I have 2 Box Car Willie tomatoes out there bigger than a softball! 😉

    • @keyphabenyisrael3219
      @keyphabenyisrael3219 Před 19 dny +2

      @@gardeningwithlisa I don't know why my Paul Robeson tend to be less productive & produce smaller fruit than say Cherokee Purple, but it grows well enough for me to keep growing it, I've grown (or tried to grow) 5 tomato varieties since I started gardening:
      Delicious
      Striped Green Zebra
      Speckled Roman
      Cherokee Purple
      Paul Robeson

    Hi Lisa, I've been trying to grow the Paul Robeson Tomato for two years with no success, is there a trick to getting them to grow? Do they prefer being on the drier side? I'm at a loss here, any pointers would help, thanks 😊🌺

    • @gardeningwithlisa
      @gardeningwithlisa  Před 14 dny

      Hello! I grow it like all the others. Now, I'm noticing different things about it. I won't live that long. It will produce a million tomatoes, but it will not grow that long. I've lost 2 plants already. The last one had tons of green tomatoes on it. I guess it work so hard producing tomatoes, then it gives up and die! 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
