@HawkGirl69 it smells yeasty but I have been making this regularly every week since discovering it. I also keep the dough in the fridge and use it for pizza dough
3 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, 1.5 teaspoon of salt, 1.5 cup of warm water. Mix it well, leave it covered for 3 hours. Heat oven on 450 F. Bake 45 min. I don't put in the parchment paper, I lightly grease the container with butter, it comes out great, the paper gets stuck in the bread. I don't use Dutch oven, it's unnecessary, the bread bakes just fine in ANY glass or ceramic container
I just made this with replacing 2 cups with whole wheat flour, added crushed walnuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, olive oil, and tablespoon of coconut sugar. Wow! Now i just need to paint my nails and bedazzle them so i can make that cool bread tapping sound. :-)
Instant yeast would be the most suitable option for this recipe because active dry is supposed to be activated beforehand to reach optimum fermentation potential.
Just finished proofing the dough and now waiting for dutch pot to heat up!😍 The wait in intense, especially after I keep hearing that crunch on you bread!!😂😂😂
Thank you this recipe is so good it'll inspire you. I've made it twice. The second time I swapped half a cup of the flour for whole wheat flour and added just a hint of molasses and cut the salt to one tsp. So, so good both ways.
A little frustrating to see the instructions and ingredients, did you not check before you posted this. It would have been good to see you slice into the loaf so that we could see the texture. Looks like a simple recipe which is what I was looking for, thanks.
I used mine for her recipe, but I follow this lady on CZcams and she said she called the company and they told her you don't need to pre-heat the dutch oven before hand. That's how the bakers do it.The company also told her, you can use any oven safe pot.Make sure the knob on the lid will not melt. You can unscrew it first.
You can use a Pyrex bowl. Or a sheet pan and add an oven safe pan of water on the bottom of the oven to get the crispy crust. I’ve also read you can use a loaf pan and cover it tight with foil.
thank you for the recipe :) - i just made it but added some softened butter and 3tsp of sugar and it turned out kinda dense.. really good warm tho.. i think i prob shoulda skipped the extra ingredients
I’m gonna try this, I’ll give an update when it’s done update: so it is perfectt!! My family loves it. I also recommend for holidays adding other stuff! I added pumpkin spice and cinnamon and some pumpkin purée and it was a pumpkin loaf! This recipe is amazing
I just made this today. It was very dense, didn't rise much, and the bottom was so hard I couldn't cut through it. The crust didn't exactly crackle, either, probably because it was too thick. I definitely can't make sandwiches with it so I gave it to my sister.
Put the Dutch oven into the oven while you mix the dough. It can be preheating. It takes awhile to get hot… I bake mine at 450, allowing the Dutch oven to preheat in the oven. By the time the dough is ready, the oven should be hot. If not, allow it time to rest until it is. Bake for 30 mins and take the lid off for 10 mins to get good and brown!
Might be a silly question, but does the dutch oven go back into the oven after you put the dough in it? Or does the dutch oven bake the dough on its own because youve already heated it at 450 degrees?
I made this using 3 cups of wholemeal ‘strong’ bread flour and lots of different seeds. It very heavy and dense and doesn’t taste so good. Will try again tmrw
Hello, I see no answer so I'll provide one! You can use both AP flour or Bread flour! The bread flour is slightly better because of its protein content (eg gluten) which is more!
Add one empty baking pan on the top rack of your oven. Transfer your dough to a parchment lined baking pan and to the middle rack of the oven. Add boiling water to the baking pan on the top rack and close the oven lid! The steam created will produce a crunchy crust and a perfect loaf 😊

@beverlytipton9037 if you use gluten free flour, i would advise you to also use xanthan gum since it mimics some of gluten's essential properties by sticking to flour and retaining moisture. However, keep in mind that it is gluten that makes the bread fluffy and moist so without it the result will not be the same!

I just made this, left the dough overnight, baked it this morning. First loaf of bread I've ever made and it's awesome 😋
Same! It was super easy. Did yours smell super fermented?

@@SD-cz8og Oh good to know! Thank you
For overnight use less yeasts so will be much better like 1/2 teaspoons or 1 maksimum
3 cups of flour,
2 teaspoons of instant yeast,
1.5 teaspoon of salt,
1.5 cup of warm water.
Mix it well, leave it covered for 3 hours.
Heat oven on 450 F.

How long should Dutch oven be heated at 450 before putting dough?
Too much fuckin yeast. Dumb bitch

I made this in a cast iron skillet with no lid about 25 degrees cooler and it turned out perfect
Did you bake it for the 45 minutes straight?

Thank you dear. I made this tonight. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to share and teach me.
Just made the dough. Gonna bake in the morning
And how was it? For how many hours you leave it to ferment?
Best bread I've ever made. I just sprinkle flour on the Dutch oven instead of parchment paper and it doesn't stick at all.
Looks great

Follow the recipe, from a baker's point of view it's too much yeast
I've had the bread stick to paper, so I recommend spraying it with Pam first!
It also rises quick in laundry room!!
2 teaspoons of yeast? Usually these recipes us 1/4 tsp. Are you sure
We made this tonight. Turned out good. Didn’t have a Dutch oven. Put it in some parchment in a glass casserole dish.
This turns out great every time!!! I never buy bread anymore
Is the total rise time 3 or 3 1/2 hours?
Yes
Love how you didnt touch it with your hands
GREAT video, but i think a more efficient way it to put the bread in for a minute at 13,500 degrees.

Whats tge ingredients?
Will it turn out as good with gluen free flour?
place dutch oven in the oven

Question, are you using bread flour, self rising flour or AP flour?
Hello, I see no answer so I'll provide one! You can use both AP flour or Bread flour! The bread flour is slightly better because of its protein content (eg gluten) which is more!
Is it also possible to just use a baking sheet ? Asking for a friend...
