In my line of work as a courier, I've driven the 2020 Sprinter, both in short and long wheelbase. My current ride is a 2020 Transit and I must say except for the engine it is a superior van in all respects. It drives/handles way nicer, more like a tall car than a truck. Rides nicer, gets blown around on the highway a lot less. Brakes are better, better pedal feel. It rattles/squeaks less and feels more solid, all the doors close with a much nicer thunk. Seat is better, infotainment screen is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the garbage Benz offers as standard. Mirrors/side window design is way better. Main thing is the step in height is significantly lower, the Ford is a lot more short person friendly. Only complaint is the base V6 in the Transit has ZERO low end torque and feels like a total slug. Which makes sense, it was the V6 Mustang motor, it doesn't crank until 3000rpm and has a 7000rpm redline, just the wrong sort of engine for this application.

An Iveco Daily 4x4 is in the same segment as this full size Transit AWD. But it has a proper transfer case (an rather unusual three speed one actually) and three diff-locks with manual transmission as standard, whereas this AWD version of Transit only has a normal AWD system that typically found on urban soft-roaders.

T Hawk Yes the Ujoints are awesome, but for $5K vs 14K (maybe more) this fills a market for people that want traction on snow or mud, but aren’t going major off road. Low ground clearance for sure, but means lower center of gravity. I’ve been wishing I could afford a cutaway with a Total Composites box.

I own a 2016 Transit 350 XLT(Med-Roof and Long WB) with the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost. The Ecoboost power delivery is amazingly smooth/linear and the 6R80 transmission shifts like a dream.
I used to own a 2014 E-350 XLT 12-pass and it was such a clunky riding van. The Transit is on a totally different planet.
    I love my Ford Transit!
BTW I'm not a big fan of Fords AWD systems, simply because of the PTU's. They were always problematic and hard to maintain after a certain mileage. Just get the RWD version, less headache with tires, better MPG, and less complexity overall.

My company has operated Sprinter, NV and Transit and the Ford Transit by far is the best van that we have ever owned and operated, especially with that EcoBoost 3.5L. Performance wise it blows away the other vans but also with comfort and features. And most importantly it has also been the most reliable. There is a reason Ford is dominating this commercial van market and based on the competition that is not going to be changing anytime soon.

That van has got almost 100k. miles on it in four years, and has taken a beating like no other. The van is tough as nails and I highly recommend this van to anyone trying to decide whether to purchase one or not. Ford knocked it out of the park with this one. I own a small construction company. We build new home and also compete remodels from foundation up. For years we all drove pickups. Some still do but, I purchased a Pro-master 3500 high cab extended and built it out to hold 95% of tools we need (on average) over a years time. We use the Milwaukee Pack-Out system and a mix of other storage solutions that hold miscellaneous materials and tools. Table, miter, shovels, brooms, vacuums, compressors .... etc all have their place. In addition we can still get 2500 sq ft of flooring staked up the middle. We can also care a few 16’ boards if hey go all the way to the toe kick beneath the dash. But it’s limited to about 10 pieces of baseboard. Otherwise we have to leave the black doors open to with flashers and caution tape for drivers coming up behind us.
I think all of the vans like this are great but after driving all three: Mercedes, Transit and Promaster...... our next van will be the Transit. It’s just more comfortable, has more power, has amenities that make working long days better.
Cost ..... well if you load up and F-250 With computable amenities and buy a 16’ trailer ...... your probably $15k more but have the flexibility of using as a personal vehicle. I do a lot of work in both the city and suburbs. Trailers are difficult in the Cory.
So great news Ford is making one heck of a nice van with options that will make most everyone happy. I wish Ford would add an option for air conditioning / vent to the leather, vinyl and cloth seats of the
    Transit cargo.

I work in the limo business. We have sprinters 3500 dullys they ain’t fast but they carry passengers and cargo like nothing. 15 passengers and luggage we’d be over weight in the Ford. Sprinter I believe is almost 6k of cargo capacity. Huge difference! Sprinter drive like a truck and the ford like a car.

I just got mine. I ordered it on January 8th. Took too long to get but I am amazed by it. I got the shortest wheelbase and lowest roof 150 crew model. I wanted the highest power to weight ratio and it fits in my garage nicely. The power and acceleration from the twin turbo EcoBoost and ten speed transmission are really amazing for a van. I built this vehicle in my mind years ago but Ford was the only manufacturer who could bring it to life. I had to wait until the 2020 model for AWD and crew (five person) setup. So far it's more than I had hoped for. You can watch a short walk around video on my channel and I'll answer any questions if you're looking to get one set up like mine. I got just about every option available and came in at about $50K. Good value when compared to F150 in my opinion.

@@LemonySnicket-EUC I think I got the numbers for the Transit Custom when I originally googled this, that being said the Transit is still impressive. According to Auto Express
"The latest updates have further improved economy, and Ford claims a best figure of 43.5mpg for the smallest front-wheel drive models. If you opt for the mild-hybrid 128bhp engine option with its 48V starter/generator... The best combined figures for the mild-hybrid range from 44.8-47.1mpg on the combined cycle, which could make a big difference over higher mileages."
Keep in mind that those figures are in imperial MPG, so 47.1MPG in this case is the same fuel consumption as roughly 39MPG in the US. The vans tested are also not the biggest ones so fuel economy will be reduced a bit for those models

This is why Ford owns the van market. As regards to offering another row of seats, I believe that it would qualify this van as a bus in most states. That would be very unappealing to many potential customers due to the insurance and additional driver CDL requirements to drive it. For commercial fleet use, insurance is one of many things that will kill your business.
