ChatGPT macOS app... reminds me of Windows Copilot

- Was prompted to install the desktop app this morning, so I took a quick test drive of the macOS app for ChatGPT and my first impressions. Btw, I am bullish on this app in the long term.
I dont get it. Whats the benefit of using the app over the web version? Everything is identical
Can you please advise and confirm two things: First, exactly where you downloaded the app? Second is the ChatGPT desktop Mac app a universal app? Or does it only run on Apple Silicon Macs (not Intel Macs)?
You need at least an M chip.
looks to be the case, at least for the version I downloaded:

Do you know if there is a windows application? Or are all the videos scams? I checked my email, I did not get a link and I have the higher tier subscription
No mate they said window will be out later like in few months or so for now its just for mac

Cool video, I thought the main reason to have the desktop app was to connect live to your computer. Like screen share and get instant feedback. Hmmm unless that feature is not available yet.
I am hoping for better integration, otherwise there's no point in a desktop app

a link appeared right above the message text box, below the 4 suggested bubbles... IIUC they're doing a rollout for Plus users currently
I had trouble finding it after my first download, so I just checked downloads and found this... please respect any restrictions they have, i.e. s/b plus users only... persistent.oaistatic.com/sidekick/public/ChatGPT_Desktop_public_latest.dmg
@@WesMcClure Hmm... When I try to install it, there is just a slash through the icon. I am on a 2019 MacBook Pro Ventura.

@@cardz-bigliettidavisitanfc2381 OMG! So you mean to tell me that all of us Plus users who don't have these new chips won't be able to use the desktop app? I have no issues updating to Sonoma, but having to buy a new Mac is crazy. Where did you hear this?

Very disappointing there is no screenrecording feature like they showed on iPad with the math student. Like a comment before - the advantages over the webapp are minimal. Copy and pasting screenshots is nothing new.
There’s going to be. The new vision and audio functionalities are going to roll out later this year.
