Hi rupertmcnaughtdavis have you become a flat earther yet? If not I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
I am unable to separate the burner basket from my Aladdin table oil lamp. The collar is one that does not screw into the glass lamp. The burner assembly portion, I have been able to remove but the inner/outer wick tubes and the piece that holds the wick in place all is connected inside the burner basket. I have tried soaking my lamp upside down in soapy water overnight, hoping it would loosen any gunk. I used a hairdryer on warm heat, hoping it would melt any gunk inside the burner basket, preventing me from being able to get it to budge. I am afraid to exert to much force, as I don’t want to break or crack the oil lamp. Any suggestions on how to get this part off so I can install my new wick would be extremely appreciated.
If you have a B model, the wick raiser will come out the bottom. So you have to unclip the wick raiser from the wick first. Then remove the wick raiser out of the bottom and the wick comes out the top of the burner.
If you are installing a new model b wick you might have to modify it some. You will likely have to use needle nose pliers are squish the buttons on the new wick. I had this issue and the wick would hang up with the outer wick tube.
I need your advice. I'm trying to get an old Aladdin going. It has a model B wick and nothing will move. If I turn the knob hard enough to move it I will break it. Not sure what's stuck but I think it's the wick itself. The metal mechanism wants to move but something is binding. Help. And Merry Christmas.
in another video (also Aladdin) they said to soak the entire burner in kerosene for several hours to break the gunk loose. WD-40 might work too. Mine has the same problem.
Hello! I have an Aladdin lantern from 1950. I would like to get the blanket and the asbestos shirt. Where to buy? Could you please please send it to me? Or you could tell me where to buy. I live in Brazil and can not find it here because it is very old. Thank you.
I have 3 #23 Aladdins and they're so temperamental I bought three #3 Queen Anne burners to replace the horrible Aladdin burners. Just bought a new wick for one Aladdin burner and the wick raiser won't catch the metal clips. it raises up and down but the pops right off the wick. USELESS. Also, one would think Aladdin (or SOMEONE) would develop a wick that isn't so high maintenance. (I have a 1900s center draught lamp that works perfectly so it's not that I'm completely clueless.) And another thing... I'm burning paint thinner/low odor mineral spirits at $13/gallon and it works fine in a center draught lamp.
The best wick replacement video by far! From South Africa.
