Fun Fact: This was actually Kurt's favourite song he made.
Mine too
About his ex no doubt 😉
This was probably tie with SLTS for my favorite song on the album, back when I first got it in the 90s.
mine too
Never heard that before. Site your source limey.
Kurt's voice is like a breath of fresh air
U're goddamn right🙄💪🏾
it really does
A fresh breath of air after having the worst day ever 😌

@@Howyadoin6969 Hopefully your next.
Fun fact: This was the song, Kurt actually thought would be the main hit of the album, not "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
And for a good reason. I always considered Drain You to basically be a perfect pop song. Now, after all these years I find out (thanks to this comment section) that Kurt himself considered it to be THE hit for Nevermind. Wow. I just have to say I agree with the person who created it lol
I thought it was come as you are
@amandabrewster5327 I think it's the second biggest song on the album?
“I don’t care what you think unless it is about me”
every time I hear that line it feels so real people are naturally made that way Kurt’s writing here is just at one of its best
What did you think when you heard the Fall Out Boy song that copied that line (I Don’t Care)?
Unlike yours.
@Chicken Parma Love both, but Kurt said it first!!
@Chicken Parma homage, think a bunch of bands have given Nirvana shout outs like that (eg. Blink 182 etc)

One of the best Nirvana songs and for sure underrated as hell
I still love this song as I did 30 years ago
From my first listening to Nevermind 30 years ago I always thought this song was way better than SLTS!
@@Ncebulsky Of course agreed! :)
YES
underrated?
Nirvana will never be forgotten. The simple riffs Kurt made proved that riffs don’t have to be technical to make it a good song. I’m currently starting a band rn, and I’ll always give credit to Nirvana for inspiring our riffs.

You can't be misanthropic when you write a love song like that. Kurt had emotional deficiencies, but he wrote this song when he was happy to discover love. A great song. And what great inspiration! Great riff!

Lyrics:
One baby to another says, "I'm lucky to have met you"
I don't care what you think unless it is about me
It is now my duty to completely drain you
I travel through a tube and end up in your infection
Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
I like you
With eyes so dilated, I've become your pupil
You taught me everything without a poison apple
The water is so yellow, I'm a healthy student
Indebted and so grateful, vacuum out the fluids
Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
I like you
You, you, you
You, you, you
One baby to another says, "I'm lucky to have met you"

Imagine how great it would be if he were alive now.
The whole Nevermind album is full of Beatle inspired pop hooks. 'Drain You' is the perfect example of combining a beautiful melody with a cutting edge.
Damnit now I want a cover of drain you inspired by the early Beatles sound 😭
Fuck the Beatles.. these young was about grunge... sinebidy is always comparing music to some other era... nirvana stands along... fuck the Beatles
2:27 Kurt's scream gives me chills!
This buildup reminds me of Pink Floyd - Pow R. Toc H.
That entire build up and resolution is one of my favorite moments in all of music hands down.
Gives me Goosebumps every time.
@@Lept010 It does indeed! You have a good ear my friend.
thats kurt?
This song means so fucking much to me. It’s one of those that I can never get tired of hearing, an immortal theme. Sure, it’s not the most complex piece of music ever, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s just damn good, and that’s more than enough. Brings me back lots of memories too, makes the song better for me.
cool story bro
so many Nirvana song i just can't get sick of
I swear to god I feel the same way every time I listen to Drain You it’s like the first time, lots of memories in the early 90’s with my brothers and this album too.
I feel the same way about New Way Home by the Foo Fighters. Some songs just hit different.
I actually have ocd this song 20 years strong. Unbelievably good
One of their best for sure, There's something about the harmonies and the instrumentals that makes me so hyped lol
Why lol?

This song has helped me through so much, whether it be through depression or school or loneliness or all of the above.
One of the weirdest and best love songs of all the time.
i dont think its a love song tbh
i feel like it alludes more to a relationship with drugs

You can really hear the happiness in his voice.
Said nobody EVER !!!
Take this as a sign everyone, Kurt loves you all 🤍
Man is literally dead though
thank you rodrick
Not all.
This is one of the rare songs that at least for me seem to perfectly describe selfish, narsisitic people that you’ll meet in life. People who really think ”don’t care what you’re thinking unless it’s about me” and how they’ll completely drain you. But I love how unique and artistic the lyrics are. Probably my favorite nirvana song. It’s perfect.
pretty sure its that + heroin
@@quinnlloyd3977 another good perspective of the song is the pov of a baby talking about its mother, lines such as "it is now my duty to completely drain you", "I travel through a tube and end up in your infection" and "one baby to another says I'm lucky to have met you" prove this point
Maybe you are a hypocrite
The meaning of the song has nothing to do with it. This is a love song, about passion
I can’t believe this many people suck ass at interpreting lyrics
This song is amazing, the lyrics by kurt, harmonies by dave, the bass line by krist everything, PERFECTION
i love nirvana
this will forever be my favourite nirvana song

We’re born as complex creatures to embrace simple pleasures.
How deep down the rabbit hole you go is on you.
I remember airguitaring the chords after the little solo/ interlude in this song when I was 12. A year later got my first guitar. Played so hard id lose my pick and keep playing till my right hand bled. Happened more than once. 1993 I think

Nirvana was a revolution in our time.
Saturated music became pop.
And punk sang of love, instead of nerdy politics.
That was a revolution. I hope, perhaps, that the younger generation still understands that. This song is absolutely magnificent.

Listening to "Drain You" invites not just an emotional but also an interpretive engagement. The listener, harboring a dream of living a great love story, may find themselves reflecting on the lyrics and music in relation to their own life experiences and desires. The song becomes a canvas onto which they project their longing, fears, and hopes about love. The act of listening thus transforms into a deeply personal experience, where the song's narrative intertwines with the listener's internal narrative, creating a unique and subjective interpretation.
