I commented on another video to a similar idea. If you want to see 50k affordable boats, go to your marina or a local dealer and have a look. This is something we all can access. However we can not access all the expensive high end superyachts like Nick, so it's good to use time for those. Also from a YT perspective, he prolly gets much more views from superyachts than old second-hand bangers.

This boat is perfect. With a lot of other "cheaper" boats you usually can't close off the interior with a proper door for colder conditions. You will usually have to compromise between a gt style boat with a closing door, but without the fly-bridge or a fly-bridge one you can only close with canapes. This one has got it all though!

    • @TexanUSMC8089

Smaller boats are what's really pumping up the boating market.
Even Nordhavn acknowledged this and, thus, the wonderful, new, N41.
A live-in boat from 30 to 40 feet - like the ones from the very successful Beneteau trawler series... - will suit the vast majority of boating enthusiasts' needs.
    Wonderful review, as per.

Much depends on when the model was released and I am not sure about this one. When you compare to the Fairline Squadron 42 and there are a few 2012 models on the market which is only 5 years newer than this, they seem so much more contemporary in design, yet they are still 8 years old. Admittedly they are about 50% more expensive than this so a big price to pay for slightly more modern styling.

I bought my first boat, a 1987 searay 340 for $30,000. Usually stays in the water. The guy showed me how everything works. The marina charges for the space and electric and trailer storage if you have the trailer too. Monthly space was about $600 and insurance was about $150 a month. Mantainance is sewage disposal unless you use the marinas, heat and ac units, engines and generator like cars more or less and hull in water paint/seal coatings and cleanings every couple years or so. Fuel on a 30' to 40' boat might be about 5 miles per gallon. Maybe all in about $1,000 a month in arizona lake. Better than apartment or home cost.

Great review, I had a Phantom 40 prior to my Phantom 48 that is currently lying in Portland waiting for Lock Down in UK marinas to end
A couple of points, firstly, the cruising range is around 200 miles at 23 to 27 knots, you would get 300 miles if you were chugging along at six to eight knots.
The Volvo 370’s do not have enough low end torque for close quarter work, so you do have to rev beyond ‘in gear’, which can make the boat a little tetchy when berthing.
A great 40 foot cruise, the two bathrooms are very well kitted out and I had lots of times when another couple stayed with us, and if it was just me and my partner, then it was complete luxury.
These boats were built when Fairline were on top of their game,

PS: I've been perving over the Predator 108, Le Chiffre's yacht in Casino Royale. It too has that "charmingly dated" look now. Three Arneson surface drives and 45 knots! Thoroughly enjoyable tour as always. Great boat and much more realistic for us mortals compared to many, even if still out of reach! Thanks Nick 👍

I personally quite enjoy these some what more affordable yachts. I would like to see a Azimut 50 flybrige, you can buy those yachts for around £300.000 . Or a Arno Leopard 23. I also quite like the Sunseeker Predator line.

I really like this, it feels like a homely, manageable little boat, and aside from the small windows below decks it's really not that badly dated. As you say a great floating holiday home. The galley in particular seems quite generous for the size. I do wonder how reliable it'll be after 13 years in the water, though!

Based on it's size intended market, +10 for everything, -1 for engine access. "No step" area like giving a kid an ice cream with a label that reads "don't eat."

A little bit of reupholstering of the blue to grey (like the Sunseeker super hawk you toured) and this would be perfect 👌🏼 A lot of boat for the money
