The only time he got visibly tired was when he was fighting at altitude against Rockhold and still was the more aggressive fighter.

Let's just state some facts. Yoel Romero is a god level Cuban missile wrestler, Olympic silver medalist and many world wrestling gold medals and he couldn't take down Paulo Costa once. Paulo Costa defended all his takedowns. Paulo is HUGE compared to Chimaev i don't think he can take him down.. All the guys Chimaev ragdolled where half his size.. Only the last fight with Burns who is a little stronger compared to the others and Paulo Costa is twice the size of Burns.. The striking is good both ways, they have strong chins both. For me it comes down to the mind games. Im leaning towards Costa for some reason..

@1254q 😂 first of all, Yoel did actually take Paulo down lol. He failed on 3/4 attempts, but then again yoel isn't half the grappler khamzat is and has a much lower takedown accuracy. The fact that youre citing yoels silver medal in FREESTYLE tells me you don't understand wrestling very well. Paulo is also not as big as you people seem to think. He's no LHW. Just a big MW. Khamzat is more powerful, faster, smarter, and more technical. Paulo also has zero wins over anyone on the ufc roster.

Chimaev is inhumanly fast. I think that part of the physicality is going to be what gets him the w over Costa. Watch Khazmat vs Kevin Holland. No 6'3 man should move that quickly.

I say khamzat......cz most people saw the gilbert fight and just forgot what he did nobody ever will for a long time...Chimaev was "UNTOUCHED" and finished those in 1/2 rounds without effort....on the other hand we have costa who got ko'd with that left hand from izzy simply cz Costa is forward and izzy is counter(i mean izzy can do marathon).

As good as Khamzat is (and we all know how good he is) I think it would be a bad idea for him to try to strike with Costa. If I'm him, I definitely would heavy wrestle Paulo (or at least try). If Burns was able to drop Chimaev the way he did, then Costa is more than capable of doing the same.
It will all comedown to Costa TDD IMO. If he's getting taken down early, then it's gonna be a short fight. If not, he can definitely win a decision or even KO Khamzat.
This fight is actually closer than what people think.
I just cannot wait for the press conference the back and forth will be fun to watch unless khmzat starts a fight backstage again 😂

Khamzat didn't want to go to the ground with burns because of his grappling skills. If Paulo's grappling skills is on par with burns (which I personally think is not), he might be able to pull this off.

Khamzat will probably maul him if he dont choose to challenge himself and play by Costas rules. Just like he did with Burns, we saw a dog fight where Burns caused problems. But only cuz Khamzat didnt wanted to go for the takedowns but instead he choose to trade shots even after his corner yelled to take him down. Like literaly you could hear them over a tv screen. So if he comes game plan focused and disciplined i dont see how Costa beats him

Khamzat didn't go for takedowns because of how dangerous rolling with Burns is. He was *forced* to play their game. Costa has great takedown defence with his stocky arms, but more than that, he is massive compared to Burns. It will be a whole new challenge for Khamzat, and I think it'll be interesting.

Lmao. No. Nobody forgot anything. We remember him scraping by quadruple retireee Luke Rockhold and we also remember that his last win over a ranked fighter was Yoel in 2019, before khamzat was even in the ufc.
If Costa manage to survive round one he has a chance to land a hard leg kick he can be technical enough to time it. Other than that khamzat is winning No way costa gonna win on the scorecard or by sub.

Khamzat is a great all around fighter and has dominated a lot of his opponents. He's sneaky and quick with his take downs. But when he fought Burns who is also a good wrestler and an even better BJJ guy, Khamzat had a lot of trouble in that fight. It was razor close. So with that being said, the size and strength of Acosta and his ability to not get taken down I mean he went 5 rounds with one of the best wrestlers in the entire UFC (Romero) and barely got taken down. I'm going to say it's going to be a long night for Khamzat, and Acosta for the win. But if Khamzat some how finds a way to get past Acosta, then he should immediately get the next title shot for sure. Really looking forward to this fight. I feel it's finally the real test to see what Chimaev can do against a super game opponent.

I dont know why this fight happens. Khamzat is big at ww but not oversized. Most of the people he beat,geralt etc were his size. He should have dominated edwards and then move up and try his luck at mw. To simply skip ww division after all achieved there and go for a fight with the most oversized guy afraid to step up(izzy) is crazy.
