I think doing YOUR best is enough. YOUR best is probably enough by itself to win most competitions, but as a fan, I just wanna see you have fun, and idrc if you go back and dominate everything again yes, i wanna see it, but just knowing youre happy and having fun is whats important. Mark Felix is someone who comes to mind. He isnt out there trying to get 1st place necessarily, hes out there because he loves competing, and no one would deny what a beast he is just because he isnt winning. idk, what im trying to say is i love this, and im excited for you! congrats!

This is great news. Looking forward to see you back, you are making the right choice it’s in your blood. I hope to see you in the Shaw classic someday, that would rock! I’m 67 and have so many regrets of quitting competition too early now all I can do is look back with disappointment. Sure I still lift but it gets more and more difficult with time passing. Don’t let yourself get that way, do everything you can while you can until you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are done. Live the dream Thor because age gets us all in the end. @@BuffPomskypeople act like Thor pulling a deadlift in the public gym that he owns makes it easier. But competiting in your own comp, with the events you handpicked and knew about way before anyone else, and on specific equippment that nobody has ever trained on but you is fine for everyone lol, strongman community is funny sometimes. On top of that Brian only peaks one or twice a year max. He doesnt do many shows like the other guys. He also probably run one of the biggest cycle of his life knowing it would ne the last.

Thank you for sharing this and also for letting people know that it is important to take time to recover. An important message coming from a prominent leader of power lifting and weigh training as yourself. Too often people try to push too hard and come back to early which leads to more injury. Also, super psyched to see you in Strongman again! Best of luck with the recovery and looking forward to your next Strongman competition!!

Sir do what you want to do ! Good luck at everything , and the scare you have from a major injury will make you doubt and guard that area, it stopped me from finishing of going on powerlifting, but you said it all and you still have the passion for it

Much respect man, I broke my arm a few weeks ago and waiting to train is some of the most difficult thing I've had to deal with. Im glad during the recovery time you were able to reflect and choose your path! Looking forward to seeing you back!
I had a motorcycle accident last year which required foot surgery. 3 screws and 2 months of being in a wheelchair. The hardest 2 months of my life.

Hafþór, watching you deadlift 501kg in 2020 on ESPN’s livestream was my first introduction to the sport of strongman. I remember watching in utter awe when you reached the lock out position with, seemingly, ease. Since that moment, I have developed a great appreciation for strongman which has inspired me to pursue my strongest self. Strength training and sport, strongman above all else, is now my passionate obsession. In the next five or six years, I hope to visit Iceland to test myself with your country’s famous stones of strength. I look forward to watching you again in strongman competition, and I wish you a triumphant return 💪💪.

Him lifting 501 really wasn't Strongman. His 2018 season was the best season ever (Hooper is coming close this year), seeing a recap of that year is amazing

Fantastic news! and very glad you're making sure, and committing to being smart about it too. I genuinely believe you could have the same sort of longevity Zydrunas had of competing at the absolute top of strongman and winning top level competitions.
Also, I can speak personally to the other side of the 'chickening out' and then living with the what if. In my case it was a chance of a chance even, and it haunts me. For you, you know you can win more competitions and accomplish more, so I feel it'd be that bit worse.
