The Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Company Limited, headed by FREDRICK KOBBYNA ACQUAAH and partners, was the first factory President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo inaugurated at Ekumfi under the One-District-One-Factory in 2017.
The facility is the biggest fruits processing factory in West Africa, with the capacity to process 10 tons of fruits per hour.
Funded by the Exim Bank Ghana Limited, the agric-industrial intervention has significantly gingered the spirit of entrepreneurship.
Mr Frederick Acquah, the Director of Operations at the facility, allayed the fears of the public that there will be lack of reliable raw materials supply to support production saying “we have a very strong raw material supply base that would significantly create 1000 direct jobs and 6000 indirect jobs in the district and beyond.”
Per the company’s five-year strategy vision, it is cultivating more than 4,000 acres of pineapples in many communities in the district as well as in the neighboring districts that would in all, produce 80 million fruits per annum for the processing line.
It has also projected 600 acres per year, in preparing to switchgear to the next phase of cultivation that would see the expansion of its raw material base up to the projected 4,000 acres needed to feed the factory at full capacity.
The company also seeks to expand and sustain its 19 shared-grower sites established in Ekumfi Nanaben, Narkwa, Abor, Eyisam, Otuam, Egyaakwa, Asaman, and Gyankoma.

So glad to hear Ekumfi is organic and they are not depleting their soils of minerals with a bunch of chemicals!
Pls get your basic agronomy and plant nutrition right. With time, yield and quality will decline. Because the minerals in the soil is basically what they're removing through the tasty and juicy pineapples. If you don't feed the soil, it can't support production with time ... this is called sustainability!
I can agree with you when it comes to insecticide/pesticides or herbicides/weedicides.
However, fertilizers are not necessarily dangerous, if the right source/product is used in the right amount/quantity/rate, at the right time, and applied at the right place. This is the logic behind all the declining crop yields and quality.
Let's produce and buy made in Ghana , please add mango to it . We shall all come and help thanks
What I learn from this video is how natural pineapple juice can replace all the sodas like Coca Cola it just need to be fully advertise.The owner has said his product has been well noted by a doctor, this is the type of message to be put forward stating the virtues of this natural juice. This must be promoted all through Ghana. I am not from Ghana I live in Mauritius which is very far. So go forward Ghana.

Excellent videos both part 1 & 2.
It covered the process from initial planting to the final market product. I love it because the juice is natural, healthy and cheaper (at 2GHC/250ml) than the alternatives (imported juices or from drinks from breweries). It also provides local employment. People do not have to leave the area/villages for the cities to find work hence maintaining the cultures and traditions of the area.
I also want to give an exceptional praise to the owner/investor who represented the team. He was very humble, well-spoken, educational and came across in a language that every one could understand. How refreshing! I am originally from another African country and have been in the USA for decades. The problem I have had is that, it is difficult to find an individual in the continent who is operating at such a high (multi-million dollars) level without them acting or speaking arrogantly. This was a great interview and it hit all the marks in my book. Excellent work!

Working in a factory in italy for 10 years, I keep asking myself why my fellow Africans who have leaned alot from italians especially welders, metal mechanics n other great industrial works have not manifested in our own country. I'm proud of this brother cos I know how it is. My main boss is covid positive n if not because of my presence our factory wud be closed but since I can substitute and equally do his works we are still operational. I pray n hope oneday that I can set up my nougat and chocolate factory at home just to help mother Ghana. Kudos Dentaa

For the love of God, I do not understand why we love pathologizing African behaviours. "Africans cannot come together and work together"? You are dealing with people, their egos and of course clashes will ensure. This is a human behaviour not exclusive to Africans. Repeating this lie on such a platform is not only dangerous and irresponsible, it contradicts what this platform is actually trying to achieve which is empowering Africa. How is that to be achieved by repeating these stereotypes?

My dear friend, not everybody has a universal frame of mind- and even for those who do possess such a frame of mind, being mindful of it is not easy - once they open their mouth and start giving opinions on people and society. Most people's talk from what they know and what they have experienced. And that invariably tend to be local - their social group, their neighborhood, their ethnic group, their country. Now if they had had the time to study other societies and countries and read the common thread that runs through the human psyche - selfish impulses, emphasis on the now than the later, etc - they would be more circumspect when it comes to who and what is to be blamed for mishaps/mistakes/corruption, etc. in the societies they are affiliated with. Give people some slack when they make pronouncements about such phenomenon as the African work ethics, psyche, etc. They are working with materials they know; it is unfortunate that that is all they know. Would more education help? What sort of education? Who would set up the curriculum? These are some of questions for sharp, universally-minded brains like yours to tackle and perhaps rid the world of what you call "pathologizing African behaviours."

@@broeisi You must not pay attention to financial news or you simply judge African the harshest. "For the best interest of their country"? We've experienced financial crisises whereby banks and companies had to be saved by governments with TAXPAYERS' MONEY. Were they thinking of the nation's best interest then? Look at China and what is happening with their richest. Siphoning gross amounts of wealth out of the country. Big corporations hiring top notch lawyers to avoid paying taxes, lobbying politicians to crush labour laws and protection of consumers, etc. etc.etc.
Business is about putting your interest first whilst crushing the competition. And guess what, unfortunately bashing has become part of that culture. It is not exclusive to Africans. Have you seen McDonalds and other restaurants/diners going at it on twitter?
On the matter of foreign goods being perceived as better? Whose fault that? You going to be blaming African people? After being colonised and designated at the lowest place in the value chain, we had to import all manufactured goods. Ofcourse, you are going to raise citizens who value foreign goods because we never had homegrown manufactured goods. If foreign goods is all that you are accustomed to and if they have worked well, naturally you are going to gravitate towards that. But that mentality will hopefully change with manufacturing taking grounds on the continent.
You've got the young generation who are being raised with proud African mentality and this is going to take time. Also, you are really leaving out how foreign companies/government crushed African markets because local companies lacked the funds/investments to compete. So, it is not just that foreign were better, it was because their prices were lower.
By the way, "foreign is better" is not exclusive to Africans/Black people. Again, take China or Russian oligarchs as an example. People want something that sets them apart from others, to feel unique and special. Foreign goods play a role in this because not everyone can afford it. My point is, there are explanations for people's behaviours instead of attributing it to our supposed "Africaness".
Anyways, at the core of business is :trust no one. Most developed countries have the infrastructures to prevent and settle conflict/disputes which increases trust amongst business partners. The continent is catching up.

EXIM BANK.When the bank was set up it was mean't to help companies involved in exports.It was to help them in export financing.BUT NPP has come into power and is now giving loans to NPP members involved in 1D1F.Is Ekumfi factory going to export their juices?At the moment the juice is only sold in Ghana.
If there is a demand for fruit juice will you export it and use foreign exchange to import back into the country . I wish the government will have the same commitment towards rice , poultry , beef and pork production and halt importation .
@@willypapa9165 My point is a factory like Ekumfi which does not export its fruit juice products does not qualify for a loan from EXIM BANK,that was not what the bank was set up for.It was set up to help finance companies who wanted help to finance their exports.

If you want to do something in Ghana you have to be here. If not 90% of the time things will not go well for you. Too much thieves in the system.

The owners of Ekumfi factory will lose ownership of the factory should there be a change of government because of the propaganda nature of the owners, no individual can own a factory funded with a task payers money.
Which taxpayers money? Do you know one 1d1f is a program funded by a bank? All were think is about bringing people down all because of politics and ignore the suffering of the masses.

Emmanuel Adjei,I can see where you are coming from.NDC set up EXIM BANK.I don't know if NDC is going to continue the 1D 1F.This is Government funded programme,I don't know if it is WISE to give tax payers money to private individuals to set up farms and factories.What happens when the factory collapses?The tax payer will now have to foot the bill.long established factories which are not part of the 1D 1F are NOT benefitting because they have to pay taxes and electricity but 1D 1F projects don't pay taxes and electricity for 5yrs.THIS IS UNFAIR TO THE OLD AND LONG ESTABLISHED FACTORIES.
J C What about the thousands of jobs being created for the taxpayers? We jubilate over construction of roads that don’t create lasting jobs in themselves (not to disregard roads, they’re essential), but we prefer to ignore the thousands of new farmers that are springing up to produce the inputs for the factories. Also, Ghana imports a lot of some of these products, which hurts our pockets invisibly but even if it takes incentives to get these factories running, the savings on foreign exchange have far reaching benefits for the “taxpayer”. Interesting how the cedi has only depreciated by about 2% this year. All these factories have indirect impacts on these matters and the benefits to the taxpayer far outweighs the costs.
1D1F even though a good project is very unfair to the old and established factories.1D1F factories don't pay taxes and electricity for 5 yrs!Also get subsidised loans from Government.1D1F is Government funded through the EXIM BANK.Is it wise to use Government money or taxpayers money to fund private businesses?What if the company collapses?Who will foot the bills for the loans?

@@ferkahisaac7451 Just yesterday Trade Minister said EXIM BANK has given 40m Euros to a company called Akuapem Gold to help export AVOCADOS.This is something I agree because that was the reason Exim bank was set up.Companies like Ekumfi and Darko farms SHOULD NOT benefit from Exim bank loans because they are not exporting their products.
