one of my first cart hacks was when I replaced the save battery in mario all stars. if you short the + and - of the cartridge without the battery, it grants you invincibility anytime. in most games.
I just wired out a switch to it when needed, with a long wire enough to reach my seat, and that was a fun trick.

I was really hoping there was some way to load SMB3 Mario into SMB2, or play as Peach and Toad in other games.

I don't think this is possible with the game genie, but hopefully someone proves me wrong! Maybe there are mods of roms that can do this? Maybe someone else knows here?

Are you cartridge only? You could try a US version if it's an option? I'm sure EU/PAL would be available somewhere. In later vids I try to include both regains where possible!
