Brilliant job & to the point. Thanks for sharing! Now I have more confidence to repair the front lip spoiler which got minor resin damage going over a ramp.
Man, a rattle can of reducer, and probably wouldn't need the buffer at all. Reducer or a spot blender will melt clear into water like. And you spray it on a couple times right after sanding and wiping it off to soften the existing clear. So your new clear bonds and becomes 1 with it. With the buffer its very similar, you're basically heating up the clear with the buffer, and sanding micro layers.
You can used 120 to 180 sandpaper on the side you can used 1200 sand paper after you apply the resin leave dried completely for few days and then you can sanding again with 1500 to 3000 sanding paper and water then polishe with 3m cream
for this little damage try to sanding with some 180 sand paper with out damage the carbon fabric only sanding the broken resin and then around the damage trying to sanding with some 600 applying some hands of resin after you covered the damage and then you can sanding with 1000 and 1500 sand paper and polished after dried the resin or apply clear coat paint
Made it look so easy. Nice.

What kind of resin it is?
Looks great, you treat the area with tape around, why then sand a wider area and then why use the machine and what liquid is on it?
