    The portable kayak can be assembled or disassembled in just 5 minutes.
    If you fancy kayaking either as a sport or just a hobby, you are aware of the struggle that comes with transporting a kayak. Moreover, paddle boards and surfboards are not exactly easily portable either. You always need a giant truck to get your kayak or surfboards wherever you go, which is rather tedious. However, you do not have to worry anymore, there are people looking at new designs and even taking current models for creating a version of a kayak that is easy to transport and making minor changes and improvements that continue to create progress to make every single one of these options better, more durable, and more reliable.

    I'd be sold on the TRAK if only the turnaround time from order to delivery wasn't like 9 months. Ten minutes to set up sounds great, but the reality is that the real set up time is 9 months and 10 minutes, and that's 9 months more than I can wait.

    First one: So, ripstop nylon. How's that hold up when you paddle into the edge of a sharp rock, or submerged tree branch? Don't think I'd want to find out.Hypar: How's that "unique hull design" work when you're in a bay and a boat's wake, or any other water surge come at you from behind? Seems like your kayak would be instantly filled with water. They've designed a perfect funnel and ramp for the water to come up into the cockpit.Trak looks interesting. I'll have to do some research on that. Not sure I like the separate frame and skin, but that how the eskimos do it. Pounding the hull with a hammer isn't the problem, it's sharp edges. still looks interesting. wonder how much they run. Quick research done - doesn't look like it's in production yet - startup. Where do the wheels go when you're kayaking, or is there a case that goes with those wheels you have to leave behind? What if you want to do some camping?Oru. I watched and tracked these for 3 years. THen REI started carrying them. Within the month, they had their annual sale. First couple of days they had kayaks on sale. I walked in third day of the sale and Oru's were on sale for 20% off the hefty $1500. I figured I couldn't afford NOT to grab at the opportunity because the price wasn't going to come down. VERY happy with my ORU! Oh, 3 minute "assembly" my EYE! Give yourself 15 at least. Also, no extraneous case with the oru. the kayak and every piece of the case, other than the nylon carrying handle are part of the kayak.Pakayak: I can't help thinking that the stress on each segment at the joints doesn't have enough material to hold up. Of course I could be wrong, but it looks like a failure over time to me, particularly it were to receive a sharp blow when transporting it once it's assembled.

  • @josh33172
    @josh33172 Před 6 lety

    Misleading. There is a reason why kayak companies have reputations. Because they make a quality product that's tested and refined.
    Now I will say that the Trak is probably a good kayak, but nothing new. Feathercraft and Folbot (now out of business) have been making kayaks of this same general design for decades with a very refined product and customer service to match. They come in slightly more or less than both brands, but not by much. Its a kickstarter to bite into a market segment dominated by brands that have been doing it reputably for decades.
    Pakayak looks interesting but I would question hull stiffness especially in a wake or surf. There is no solid beam running the length of the hull.
    Of the 5, I'd say Trak and Pakayak probably has the best opportunity, but they're a bit pricey for an unproven design.
