Never, and I mean never, did I think anyone could do John and Iris right if they ever tried to cover this song. I was wrong. Usually this song brings a tear to my eye, but seeing these two, obviously deeply in love with each other, singing this song as wonderful as they did, it brought a smile to my face. I have favorited this video, and plan on playing it again and again. WELL DONE!!!!

In every version of this song, it is the woman's voice that moves you. I have not heard a version of this song I didn't enjoy. The guy's part is very important, but boy does the woman's voice move you. Another great version, love it!

Today I was reminded that John Prine liked a facebook post of mine back in 2017. I basically said that when I needed to hear the song I usually went to this version even over the original, which I think I first heard on a Bob Harris show; either on one of his BBC Radio programmes or on one of his TV shows on the Beeb. Today I needed it more than most, kerk

Very seldom do covers do as well as the original. This is truly the exception. As some one said earlier, these two are in love and it shows. I also really love how the audience gets a good laugh. So well done!!!!
I love John Prine for his talent and songs. As a Canadian, I can appreciate his folk words and songs, like I do Gordon Lightfoot here in Canada. I only discovered John about 10 years ago, but damn, I've been singing and promoting his songs (by singing to myself in public) so everyone can knows this great singer/song writer. I love this cover of this song. Reminds me of my folks before they split - the original John Prine song was their wedding song and they used to sing it together all the time. Really miss those days. Not gonna lie, teared up a little watching this.

Obviously, the John Prine and Iris DeMent version of this song is great, but this is something more. As others have implied, it's Michaela that really makes this so wonderful. You can see the love between her and Steve in the way she looks at him, she has an absolutely lovely voice (I can think of many songs I'd love to hear her sing), and she's got the most beautiful smile. There is just nothing in this world like a pretty girl with a natural smile.

What a great cover! Congratulations on doing such a fine job! I'm a Prine fan since the seventies when he was hanging out with Steve Goodman. But really, I'm a fan of so many wonderful folk musicians and bluegrass artists. My latest rave is Billy Strings. I really enjoyed this performance and look forward to hearing more of your music. Michaela has a fine and beautiful voice; a pure pleasure to listen to.

I just saw this about a month ago and keep coming back to it! Michaela this is so great!! I only began listening to John Prine when he died - hadn't heard of him until about a year before his death. The outpouring of fans sentiments on FB persuaded me to listen. Now, I listen every day. I wish I'd known to come watch this live. I was living in Fairfield then . . .
