    If you have a Boxer, Relay or Ducato you can access the tank from the panel between the seats. Makes the job much easier and heater fits under driver seat should you wish.

    I would say I did mine on my Transit custom but my son's did it really while I watched 😊.
    Luckily I had a small £40 motorbike scissor lift I got from ebay for the tank which meant we only had to lower the tank a foot and not remove it.
    I saw the CZcams video as well about the straw clip kit and used that. My kit from ebay came with the hard white nylon fuel pipe.

    I used to own a 1989 VW florida with a diesel heater - the fuel was taken from the fuel line to engine via a 't' junction. No one way valves - just a 't' junction - then to the pump - then to the heater. Easy. Note the diesel pump has to also be at an approximate 15 degree angle. 15-30 degree.

  • @dughuff8825
    @dughuff8825 Před rokem +8

    Simpler method that doesn't involve dropping the tank? Cut a t-piece into the fuel RETURN line and use that to feed the heater. Works well; almost all fuel return lines go to a level higher than the pickup point so the van will still run even if the heater drains all the fuel that it can. Have that on Renault master; has worked perfectly for the last year... Enjoyed the video Mel as usual 😀

    • @dughuff8825
      @dughuff8825 Před rokem +2

      @@225drew Yeah, our Master is a 2011. Again, be certain that you tap into the return line, not the main feed - normally the return is smaller in diameter. You can get a reducing T piece to fit into the fuel line that will reduce down to the right size for the diesel heater.

    • @225drew
      @225drew Před rokem

      @@dughuff8825 I see another video where a guy was using this method on a trafic. good to hear that it should work on these too, thanks for your help! At what fuel level does it stop drawing from the return? Cheers!

    • @dughuff8825
      @dughuff8825 Před rokem

      @@225drew good question; to be honest I don't recall exactly.. it's not much higher than the main feed point, but will at least mean that the van will run ok and not drag any air into the main fuel line. I have 15mm in memory, but that could be completely wrong! Apologies I can't be more certain.

Also I really like that green pipe for joining white plastic pipe to pump and pick up etc , once you push that green pipe on a fitting you need a Stanley knife (other brands are available) to get it off . I have never seen pipe so sticky in all my life .

    Hi, do all vans have a similar extra spot to pick-up fuel like you did on the ford transit? I live in US like your videos.

    Did you already have a webasto? If one has a webasto heater set up, are they usually already taking that slot in the tank you cut off and use for this, or is there some more official route for it and this is exclusively for diy stuff?

    Informative, but I wont be taking the tank out and will support it so I can drop it 12 inches.

    Hello Mel , I tap on my diesel truck tank but on the road the fuel pulls back into the tank - I have to do a felation so the fuel is back up every time to start my heater, there is no leeks, I don’t understand why it does that !

    Quick question Do you get help from the government with u heatin u van

    • @Fromatic
      @Fromatic Před rokem

      I think you only get help with metered utilities, I remember a news story saying some people in canal boats or remote houses who buy oil or gas by the barrel or tank for heating and cooking etc were not going to benefit from government help as it doesn't come from the grid ('grid' applying to all services electric/gas/water), unless it has changed I think it would be the same for vans and any other off grid setup where they cant easily know how much it costs you
