Halle berry had to train with the dogs for 3hrs and get acquainted with them. Being a dog lover herself ,she had an amazing time. Like & Subscribe for more awesome content
As a Doberman owner, I can appreciate the challenge of training an animal with so much energy. Lots of people think they can get a dog that's good for protection, but often don't respect their need for constant attention and the need to be challenged or they'll get bored and destructive. I can't imagine the challenge of working with the Belgian mallinois with their incredible energy, even more so than the dobies from how they describe them
conditioning/training from a young age to “do nothing” is important… not always easy for dog or handler especially when many people get Mals because of their physicality, activity level. It’s not simply training an “off switch” - a popular but sadly sometimes misused concept & term…
I feel that some people that own pit bulls have them just because it’s the “in thing” and don’t give them the attention they should and if there’s a child around or an older frail adult in the house they will eventually get angry and take it out on the child and frail adult some owners don’t even know how to control their own dog when walking them the dogs be walking the owners I’ve seen dogs totally ignore their owners just to chase a squirrel I’ve had German shepherds growing up and always trained them properly when they did something I didn’t like I’d discipline them and they learned that was not a good behavior and if they did something right I’d reward them they obeyed my commands when walking them if someone was approaching I’d move the dog to my left side and get a firm grip on leash and say sit and it would listen and I would reward them every time people today I watch them letting the dog pull them down the street
As a Belgian Malinois owner I can understand how incredibly brave and high energetic these dogs can be. One moment they're playful and the next they're overly protective.
i was absolutley blown away by these beautiful belgian shepards in the movie..fantastic teamwork with halle berry...their disarms on the bad guys was fantastic...amazing stunt team.
Hard to imagine that dogs are better than humans, but just remember that dogs, never betray, never give up, and never lie. If that's not better then any human, I don't know what is.
It's amazing how good of actors those dogs are. From how absolutely terrifying they look in the film to how big of loving babies they are behind the scenes.
I agree. I finished watchinh the movie & started searching for information on the dogs right after. Whoever owns these dogs have an excellent security dog. I feel sorry for any burglar that tries to break into that home !
This scene was definitely the best choreographed and adding the dogs to the equation just made it even better, the fight between Wick and Zero was a close second.
I'm a proud owner, trainer and handler of 2 Belgian Malinois, both male and female. They have a very high prey drive. So when they brought up the issue with cats I had to laugh. But here is the cool part. In a way it's like owning wolves for the fact of the traits they have. My female is the hunter, the male the protector, she will act as the distraction while he flanks for the attack. They imprint on one person but can do the same with your whole household family. You become their pack. The male is the Alpha and the female the Omega. Together their in sync and a beautiful force of nature doing what they naturally do. This quickly became my favorite movie of all time. Next would be DOG with Channing Taintham. Plus my K-9 Sander was a big fan too with all the D bites left and right. I liked all the action of the movie but it was also a good depiction of both Belgian Malinois and PitBulls when their trained right. Can't wait to see the next John Wick.
Most people (even some professionals) can be “off” in how to be safe. Hopefully with this crew & budget, injuries were few. But keep in mind like any athlete, stunt double, etc, the physicality can contribute to chronic injuries… 6:04 “They’re not just blighting slowly coming in, they’re slamming into people. When you’re trying to ask dogs to do that but be safe, it’s very ambitious.”
The sad part of this will be the inevitable spike in popularity it will create for the Malinois breed that will die in shelters and from abuse. People/idiots will buy them just because they "think" they want a badass dog like they see in thus and other movies. What they find out the hard way is these dogs don't come trained like in the movies. Literally thousands of hours of dedicated, daily, discipline and work must occur. When that reality hits the dogs get dumped. Sad and sick. People suck😢😢😢
My first dog was a Wishbone kind of terrier. He was 3 and I was 2 when we got him. He lived such a long time. He would regularly go to the drugstore to get vanilla ice cream and then walk home!!!! He had an account there!
They probably go on to be stunt dogs and be in more movies, tv, shows and series untill they are too old to work. Probably be pet dogs ( with loads of experience) after till they die.
Lies! It probably took that long to train Halle how to handle a Malinois. I own the same breed of dog. It takes an immense amount of training that wouldn't be feasible to do before a movie, plus they're adult dogs so there's no way that they weren't trained since they were pups considering the stunts they did (that's where training starts with Malinois of this pedigree) those dogs are probably KNPV or something similar, they sell them for tens of thousands of dollars as protection dogs and probably came trained. The more likely scenario is that she learned the commands, and got familiar with them as they won't just listen to anyone, and that's about it. You don't train a Malinois just like that, it's arguably the most difficult breed to train, not to mention it's multiple Belgian Malinois, yeah no way she trained them. At best the dogs learned some new tricks after already being trained before, while those professionals guided them.
Lol own 2 NVBK malinois 90 lbs male and 65 lbs female if you are a good trainer it doesn't take much to condition a toy driven mal to do what might seem (impressive on screen) tricks. Sport, police, real protection is another story these are trick dogs and its visible. Only an idiot will bring a real knpv dog on a movie set its like asking usain bolt to race on a crowded 5th av or champ elysees it requires more retraining then conditioning puppies to be toy driven and do tricks on scene. Again i am not an expert dog sport is just an hobby since 98 just sharing my opinion. Neither Aly nor Keanu are navy seals don't expect these dogs to be anything more than carefuly choreoghraphed trick dogs that probably took many shots and good angles .
Those who buy failed KNPV export from here (europe) to the US for protection are getting riped off those dogs are trained to target etc can hardly generalise realistic situations and will disapoint in real fight will probably either get killed or become a legal liability for owner.
@@thunderandstorm4957 Regardless, it's highly unlikely that she trained multiple mals just before a movie, there is no way they weren't conditioned from the ground on up as that's where training for every Mal should start (all dogs reeally but especially mals) otherwise you'll have a bad case, and they wouldn't be able to do all that (and possibly be liability like you mentioned) My comment stands, arguably the hardest dog breed the train, and the likely scenario is that experienced dog trainers taught them how to handle those mals, not as suggested that Halle trained them, they trained Halle. These dogs need an immense amount of excercise for the average lap dog owner that isn't feasible, to stimulate them mentally and physically for 2-4hrs a day is already too much for most, it's why no good dog trainer recommends you get a Malinois if it's your first dog, or don't have that much time on your hands, hell even most dog trainers either don't know how to Train mals or outright decline working with them, now wether they are IPO, KNPV etc that could be debatable, but I certainly don't think they came untrained, so "it doesn't take much" is incorrect lol, maybe for you (as you're experienced), but not for vast majority, 90% of people I encounter can't even recall their shitzu. Mine was a rescue and was dog aggressive, so extra hard to resocialize, I think I'm probably gonna turn grey prematurely 😂 No all kidding aside these dogs are not for the feint of heart, and it's unlikely Halle did more than learn than just learning commands despite what has been implied in comments and this video, they're a high drive working breed, they thrive on that and they are highly intelligent and trainable, but you MUST put the work in as soon as possible as you probably already know. Good on you for having been at it since 98, I hope to get there one day, one Mal is more than plenty for me for now.
Online sadly for the breed people mis interpret 2 qualities of the malinois Drive and high energy they are not interchangeable . Drive = motivation and focus to dig trough a wall for hours to get a ball. Energy = capacity to run aimlessly to death just like sleepy toddler doing a zoomi. If one is well controled and carefully the second can be reduced drasticaly without the need for the dog to be handfull sadly the only models people have to work with are modern working dogs police and sports . They do not do a service to the potential of this breed mines can be as boring as service dogs for the blind and as explosive as a jet on the ring just by exploiting the capacity of hyperfocus they have . The best annalogie for this dogs is (ADHD ) hyperactivity and hyperfocus at the same time .hopefuly they will be eventually understood.
The Morocco scene was one of the best choreographed action sequences in the Wick trilogy.
What a great idea to incorporate dogs into this movie ....and lets not forget Halle , protector of the dogs . Her walk with those dogs is so badass .
Those lucky DOGS spending all that time with Halle! Hahahaha
Being former k9 in the military. Best attack dog scenes ever. Hands off to everyone and every k9 that was apart of that film 🤘🤘
Thanks for your service!
Bloody cool dogs. My son is nearly 15 and wants to work with Malonois.
Facts
Silly, you don’t teach mals to be ninjas. They just are.
Best part of the entire movie was the dogs fighting for her
They really raised the bar with that one
Remember everyone there's no such thing as bad dog just a bad owner.
So true
One of the best and most intense action scenes in movie history, ever. I'm so impressed by both the crew and the dogs and what they are capable of.
With out a doubt the best human/dog fight scene ever!
As seen from the film's point of view: Dog viciously attacks and kiss a human.
As seen from the dog's point of view: TOY! TOY! TOY! MUST PLAY!!!
Kiss a human hey...? I might try that myself.

@@l3joint oh sorry mr PC🙄
@@mohanicus it’s not “PC”. “Belgian Shepherd” in the USA typically refers a Groenendael, a close relative of the Malinois.
