  • Strained yogurt or Labneh (لبنة), is a classic vegetarian Levantine breakfast. Due to its resemblance to cream cheese in texture, Labneh is often confused with cheese but it’s not. It’s really just yogurt that has been strained overnight to allow the whey to drain out leaving us with this dense and creamy dip. Labneh has the tartness of yogurt, which makes it refreshing!
Labneh is dense and thick with a rich creamy and slightly tangy flavor, like yogurt. Labneh works great as a dip or as a spread on sandwiches and pairs very well both with sweet and savory flavors.

    Hi guys, a few notes:
1- If you do not have cheesecloth or muslin, you can use a fine cloth or a clean kitchen towel instead.
2- Storing Labneh is super easy, you can put it in a clean Tupperware or jar and cover the surface with olive oil which helps preserve it for a longer time. It can last you about 1 week in the fridge. Additionally, Labneh freezes really well, so if you've made a big amount you can just put it in the freezer! ⛄️
Let us know what you guys think of this recipe and what you like to pair your Labneh with! 🤗

I always thought that labneh is some kind of cheese, I'm surprised it's made out of yogurt. I was always avoiding recipe using labneh as I can't find it, thanks to you, I have the solution now ! The 3 versions looks yummy !

I moved to a rural small town in Colorado 4 years ago from Scottsdale, AZ and haven't been able to get labneah in this area. But I recently found your channel & was so excited to find that I could make one of my favorite foods at home. So I bought the best quality Greek yougurt that was full fat & made my own yesterday. I went by several times & squeezed the bag to encourage the rapid dispersal of whey. I had a lovely breakfast with my labneah, olive oil, Zadar & warm pita bread. Thank you for this wonderful gift that I will enjoy for years.

And as an update I have shared my labneah with several people to mixed reviews. Those that really enjoyed it have taken to making their own also. I guess that you either love it from the start or don't. I am so blessed to be able to live in such a quiet rural area but still have my favorite things from world travel. Thank you again.

The only use we could think of is if the labneh is thicker than desired, you can add a tablespoon or two of the strained liquid for a creamier texture!

Not at all! Please ask anything! Also follow us on instagram @LemonLaimoon :) We always use fresh lemon juice. We don't buy the bottled stuff. But if we have a lot of lemons, we sometimes squeeze them and add salt to them and store them in a bottle in the fridge for easy use :)
