- On this episode of Make It Kustom, I found a pre CZcams video I did from a previous clients 1971 GMC Jimmy I was building. He decided he needed to have the craziest custom console, and I was super stoked to accept the challenge!! I think it turned out great, and really suits this car and really sets it apart. What do you guys think?! Let me know in the comments below!

Its funny to me how humble you are when its obvious to all of us how badass your work is. Its also refreshing to me that you never stop smiling. A true artist at work.
I was thinking the same thing. It makes you want to watch his videos.
Thanks a lot man I’m just really passionate about metalwork and love learning and sharing this comment really made my day
Truth
So very true!!
@@myretirementlife8731😢😢😮😮😮😮😮😮😢😮😮
I love how you worked the existing design elements into the console and the use of steel and aluminum. Great execution.
Thanks a lot that’s exactly what I was hoping would come thru with the design !
I don’t even do this type of work, but I can’t stop watching.
That’s sweet, you’re an engineer and a craftsman, very talented.
Thanks a lot man I appreciate that!
Also watch Wray Shelin, man wouldn’t that be a shop with you two teaching!!!
Your work is awesome, I was an Aircraft Sheetmetal Mechanic for several years but your work puts most mechanics to shame.. You are very talented.. Keep the video's coming. You help us to reach deeper into the possibilities of Fabrication. Thank you!!
Wow man coming from someone such as your self that is a huge compliment I really appreciate that. I’ll keep them coming thanks for watching
@Ron Elsen how about that. My son is sheet metal, been in 16 years and my daughter-in-law was in four years. He loves this channel and has me hooked on watching. He said he learns something every video.
Great council bud! We have a fab shop in Ohio and we're looking for constantly being pushed to our limits with creativity. I love watching other fabricators and I'll tell you, you're on my top 3 fav's.. I wish I had 3 more of my self and you in my shop it would be something. By the way love the dimple die for the panel screws I've made 3 different sizes since I've watched your video cool idea. Hopefully here in the near future we will be starting our own channel. Keep up the great work very talented...
Dont simp
Great compliment man
Wow, that was a pleasure to watch! Typically I'm not a fan of custom made center consoles, but you knocked it out of the park. Paying attention to detail, I even like the idea of being able to remove the cup holder for cleaning.
Thanks very much man!
Might make something like that for my cf bedford van cheers for all the ideas Owen N.Z
Wow, way to call an audible and not have a shit fit. You do it right and the fine tuning all part of your patient professional process. OUTSTANDING !!!! your detail teaching is priceless, "make sure the rods are bent with no spring", simple advice that saves a day.. You are a great teacher.
I watch everything you post or CZcams rotate. Never miss them I save most for my learning. All good! Thanks for being there.
A work of art.
Thanks man I like to think of it that way!
Saved this for later, very excited to see it. I have a '59 T-Bird that needs a console. All the videos I can find are dudes basically covering 3/4 MDF in fiberglass and calling it good. Anxious to see how a legit craftsman does it.
Hope you like it man! Lol I’m a terrible wood worker
Hi mate,
The type of work you do can only come from a craftsman we all love watching your videos very informative keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you
Design,Fab,re-design, build. There is nothing better.
Dang bud! That looks real clean, I like how even though you had some time in the first piece where the phone goes that you scraped it and made the piece it needed! Definitely one of my favorite channels!
Thanks man glad to hear it! Nobody likes to go backwards with sometimes it’s needed
😱 amazing work 👏👏
Thanks a lot Pablo!
That console turned into a work of art that anyone would be proud of
Thanks Sheldon!
Floor console were tops in the 70's I'm glad your reinventing that art
Thanks man!
Awesome design. Definitely gives me some ideas for my 69 GMC pickup.
Thanks Matt I appreciate it! Go for it
@@MakeItKustom I guess I'll have to build or buy a bead roller soon.
Very cool.... wish I could have seen more of the finished product!
Yeah me too! I wish I took more footage
That console is up there with the best. Absolute quality Karl, well made, Joe❤
It came out awesome. wish I had a Jimmy.
They are really cool trucks getting hard to come by now
Man you did a great job!!!! Thanks for showing us. Very talented
Thanks so much man!
Stunning work. You have an amazing eye for design my friend!!!
Thank you so much it was a lot of thinking! Lol
I'd like to see more complex things like this. Thanks for all the videos
Karl you are a LEADER in your field, keep the videos coming,Please........................Fort Worth,Tx
Loved it man awesome work as always
Thank you very much! Cheers
Nice! Appreciate your teaching! Also was happily amused by choice of music at end of video reminiscent of elves working maybe from Santa work shop or Wonka factory
Ha ha ha glad you liked it I thought it was funny
Just one word. Perfection. I am just building a 1935 chevy coupe your vids have been so useful. So many out there are " look at me" yours are far from that, an education clearly instructed. Keep smiling you are outstanding sir.
One of the best consoles I've ever seen, beautiful work.
Excellent work! Loved it.
Thank you so much glad you liked it!
Just perfect!
Thank you!
Inside I’m like I can do this, then quickly remind myself . Great job was awesome to watch and learn
Dear Lord, that is beautiful.
Thank you so much I’m glad that you approve!
That looks amazing. I couldn't imagine it any other way now. It was really interesting to see how it all went together.
Yea me too can’t wait to see it done
Awesome Karl , I would have liked to see how you made the buttons for the screws ( 27:09 ) , that was a nice touch!
Great question I would love to know how he put those washer looking dimples in.
In a future video I’m going to cover this tool. I made it from some solid bar as a male and female stamp! I’m glad you like it!
I could watch your videos all day but then I wouldn’t get anywhere on my project! Great work.
Thanks man I’m glad that you like the videos! Now get to work!
Karl, you make it look so easy, and it isn't. Great work.
Gorgeous work, I would love to have that in my Jeep! The time-lapse music was great too :)
I was thinking the exact same thing. 70 cj5 not even a glovebox. This was inspiring I’m going to have to try my hand at something similar.
Right on you to get after it! Thanks for watching cheers
That is awesome and your channel is great! Keep up the great work!
Thanks a lot Darren!
Great project, thanks. Another first class lesson in design and fabrication.
Your mind's eye is spot on, then you have the skill set to produce it. I think it checks every blank!
I appreciate it mark! Thank you 🙏👊
You are such a talented young man. I wish I had your knowledge and skills. That console is absolutely 💯 % beautiful!!!
Thanks so much man I appreciate it!
Great work! This kinda got me thinking about putting a console in my truck!
Right on man hope you do!
absolutely awesome, I love seeing stuff made out of sheet, rather than upholstered MDF!
Turned out great, a lot of thought and skill went in to building it. Im so tired right now, had to ff tobthe end just to see it turned out. Will definitely rewstch the whole thing later.
Beautiful work! Worth every penny!
Thanks Lee!
That is gorgeous! I'm slowly building a shop (hobby) and really enjoy you take on how to fabricate things! So many great ideas and techniques, I cannot wait to try and hone my skills. Thank you for sharing!
I like your fabrication skills and your confidence in using them
Carl you are an artist and an engineer all wrapped into one, you are truly a talent that I love to watch the magic!
Wow man thanks so much I appreciate that!
Rather excellent. I'm enjoying my subscription.
Thanks for subscribing! Cheers
Karl you have out done yourself. The console is a beautiful piece of work.Love the design.Keep up the great work you do.Karl you can build any thing with the talent you have, your ideas are a perfect piece of art. Can’t wait to see how the Lincoln Zepher turns out. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot Roger you always have the most kind comments. I appreciate your support and thank you so much for watching!
I really thought that console was very very hot well done . Any one should be proud to have that in their truck.
Thanks you very much Johnny 👊
I could watch your Magic, all day! Thanks 👍🏻🇺🇸
My pleasure Rick! Thank you
Fantastic work on the console. Just found your channel. Enjoying and learning from videos
Welcome to the channel Paul thank you so much! Cheers
Looks great. Awesome work as always 👏🤘
Thanks so much Matt I appreciate it!
I watch and learn all the time. I'm working on my 81 cj5 and get new ideas with how to proceed with finishing up my interior.
I love the way the console cascades. Just as you said a water fall.
Absolutely amazing. Any thoughts about incorporating a wireless charging system in the phone pocket? So when he drops his phone down there it just starts charging? I really enjoy your Channel, thank you for such great content!
I watched that on instagram last winter and just watched it again! Its my favorite thing that you've made. I was inspired to build a smaller version for this coupe but I don't think he wants to spend the money. I'm hoping I can change his mind🤞lol
Thanks so much I appreciate you guys! Yes the cell phone charging pocket could’ve had a wireless charger built-in and I did suggest it I’m not sure why but there was a reason why the customer chose to go a different route
The customer probably didn't want it because you can't fast charge with an inductive charger. 🕵️♂️
Yeah man, it's super cleeen and cool with the bead rolling and contours that match the dash and shapes of the gauge bezel too; however, ...
this out of date PAULTRY subwoofer was due for an upgrade already and now it's basically built in and around the console which means when it blows it's going to need an exact replacement or left in there dead. I wish to have had a moment to discuss with the owner the importance of good bass in a large open cabin with loud exhaust and would of hoped for 2-15"s in a custom box under that back seat... oh and some LED's slapped all over, too, ok?
I'm just bustin' ya chops man! Can we see it all finished, body worked and painted soon?
Yeah once the truck is all finished up I’d love to do a video on it. You’re right about the sub it could be bigger but the nice thing is that just the sub itself is replaceable the box can stay. Thanks for your feedback on the design I scratched a hole in my head figuring this one out lol
@@MakeItKustom I was being a smart alec... I don't know why, I'm always bugging Brent that his builds need some huge subs but he ain't down for that. It ain't really the style for classic cars and most would say my LED's in the grill and under the console of my truck are tacky. I'm big on music and always had an amp and subs but the 2-15's in my Sleeper FireBird in 1996 was a bit overkill but with loud exhaust you get noise cancelling frequencies that kill the bass at certain engine RPM's and these old cars would probably vibrate and rattle from everywhere too.. MY truck now just has 2-10's under the fold down back seats. The console is really amazing, I really like that bead rolling work you do like on door panels, etc. and those trim bezels around the shifters and incorporating the lid and cup holders was PERFECT!
Are you kidding me? Who on earth will never like that? its awesome men
Love your work..proud to be part of this channel.
Thanks so much! Proud to have ya here 👊👊👊👊🙏🙏🙏
So SICK!!!! I’m so amazed by your design AND skills! This is the best “car show” in the form of “TRUCKS” or “OVERHAULIN” that I’ve ever seen! I feel like the soundtrack is the only thing that suffers, for me, but hey, BRAVO everywhere else!
from my perspective as an off roader it's a tad tall,my ribs don't give when things get ruff on the trails you put in some great ideas for comfort it's clean I liked the way you followed the angels of the dash really cool I have to say the audio is hard to hear at times but your not a sound engineer or are you? Love the overall design keep doing what you love and have fun doing it
Yes this is a very old video pre-microphone. Thanks so much for your feedback I think this will be a little more of a pavement pounder although he’ll definitely do some camping with it but it’s heavy off-road in days are over. It definitely did get heavy by the looks of the frame lol I heard a couple of air time stories
One, two, three steps beyond awesome.
I’ve seen a lot of different ideas for custom consoles. I’ve fabricated a couple myself. And that is one of the best ones I have ever seen 👍
You hit it out of the park once again Sir!
Young man, you are a beast in your profession. The console came out sweet looking for sure. Excellent build and video, thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome work. Love the design . The final mods were the icing on the cake!
It looks like it’s grown in there, love it. 👍😀👍
Well I wouldn't spend the money, I'd build it, I'm 66 and been doing this sense I was 18 and still love it. Grew work young man. Oh my name really isn't Peter Pann, lol,.
I'm sure it's worth the money you do awesome work!!
Thanks a lot Martin I appreciate it!
You're an artist... incredible work!
NICE!! Finally a console not make of plywood and fabric, so belly button! Amazing skill! Please keep the videos coming!,
Thanks, and that’s exactly what I was avoiding!
out freaking standing. I loved it.
Work of art and made to last. Not cheap plastic like today's vehicles.
Building a car to the beat of a Polka. Never saw that before. Looks awesome! Greetings from Holland 🇳🇱
Ha Hah Hah Hah it’s definitely weird but it somehow works lol!
I haven't regretted Subscribing one bit. This is one of the most entertaining and educational metalworking/hotrod channels on CZcams.
Wow Stacey ! Much appreciated! Cheers
Loved the music track you chose. It went well with the time lapse.
You are amazing! You are such a laid back fabricator, yet you really know your shit.
I don't think I've ever said this about a center console, but that is badass! I have a '70 Chevy C10 pickup and a '72 K20 Suburban (the latter having serious body rust problems). One thing I love about those trucks is the simple, clean sheet metal interior and dash aesthetic. I think you've done it justice and then some--that is some beautiful design and craftsmanship. My Jeep needs a new floor and center console as well so, I'm really inspired by your videos. Was already wanting a bead roller...now I gotta have one!
"I Got Five On It!!!!" Love That Song!!!! Great Craftsmanship Brother!!!!
Dude….this is as premium as Double D Tiddy’s on a small framed gal! LOVE your work!
Ha ha Ha! Glad you think so I think it came out pretty fucking cool too!
Hell yeah! Thanks for sharing another great project!
Beautiful design and execution. Outstanding skills.
Very, very creative, beautiful original work.
INCREDIBLE....some serious skill right there..making the wire 'frame' was a surprise was thinking the sheet metal work would be the basis and the round bar just 'trim'...utter genius...
Thanks man my first time doing it this way. I loved it
Love this part...
Bruno from France.
Thanks a lot Bruno! I love how far these videos are reaching I appreciate you cheers!
Yo that is definitely a sweet console, bro lov all your videos !!all your hands on and actually showing us the techniques, and u are easy to listen to ,look forward to many more videos, thank u keep up the awesome jobs ,now to my shop I go !.
Later.
Wowsers thanks so much for your feedback! I’m glad that you’re enjoying the channel thank you for watching!
just got to watch this great design, it flows perfect from the dash right thru. Awesome skills
Personally I like the open feel of the old trucks so I wouldn’t have put a console in at all for myself but you knocked this out of the park craftsmanship wise. Every element of this console is beautiful and well thought out!
Thanks so much!
Bead rolling and dimple dies are the coolest hot rod looks. Great job!
Agreed! 👊🙏
Build as you go is always the best... usually a basic idea then evolve from there... cheers
Beautiful bro. You did some justice with that. Chevy GMC wishes they had you!!!
Awe thanks man 🤙🤙🤙
Wow. That is all. Just wow. Top shelf my man!!!!!
It is amazing to me to see people’s natural aptitude’s when they do and make things. I have always had mechanical aptitude meaning mechanical things just make sense in my mind, how something is assembled or how it works, repair, trouble shoot etc. When I watch you though you have an awesome mechanical aptitude but combined with a very strong artistic vision and aptitude. The way you can take a blank space and using metal build this 100% custom, perfect fitting, perfect functioning yet factory looking center counsel all from scratch in your head. Truly an excellent piece that will only look more amazing after paint. Please make sure the entire thing is heavily sound deadened mostly because of sitting on top of the subwoofer.
From a fellow Canadian who just recently found your channel while laid up recovering from a surgery, Awesome job on this, super impressed with everything I have seen so far that you have Kustom Made, keep going I will be watching and learning. 👍🇨🇦
Thanks, I don't know how I missed this one. I wouldn't change a thing.
So clean ,just Amazing...👍🇪🇦
Thanks a lot David!
Besst job ever... my son...You are very talented....Definitely one of my favorite ...
Your sheet metal skill are insane
My friend. This video was immensely helpful. It’s almost exactly what I’ve been designing for the project 73 HQ Holden Style side Ute my 16yr old son and I are building for him. Brother, your work is always next level, you’re very much appreciated
Thanks very much Peter! Good luck with your project!
Master craftsman great job man
Love the look of the console... It's amazing what you can do 👍👍👀
