Marantz CC-52 5-disc CD Changer Won't Read/Play Discs - Fixed!

My 30 year old Marantz CD changer would not read discs. They would rotate into position, make lots of mechanical noises, then the turntable would rotate again and the process would repeat unsuccessfully. The issue was a stretched drive belt that lifted the laser mech into place. Replacing with a new belt fixed the problem and it works like a charm. This is how I did it. The belt is a 65mm long square drive belt, approx 1.5mm cross section. You can get a package of a wide range of sizes for less than $10 on Amazon. The service manual is also available online, just google Marantz CC-52 Service Manual and you will find it, helpful exploded diagrams and detailed service info.

That is why I never like CD changers.
A pain in the neck servicing them.
