Today, we take a walk on the wild side, with this fun looking G-Shock GA2100SKE-7A
This G shock is not perfect, and that’s ok, because neither am I. This watch has been overhyped quite a bit, praised for its looks and what not, and with that I have noticed that people conveniently leave out the negatives about this watch when reviewing it. In this video we talk about the basic specs and highlight a few key issues you might want to be aware of before you buy.

Not a fan of the watch but always happy to watch your reviews!
That’s awesome & encouraging to read, thank you so much!
@@degriff I am a fan of this particular set, so thank you.
Nani?! U no like god tier watch?
Personally I'm a fan. Never would have considered myself buying a transparent watch but this one is pretty slick. Makes me want to pull the trigger and purchase it. I probably will
Its called worn n wear or vintage 😄
I have bought it up today. And I’m watching this after the purchase! Truly impressed by its design. It’s just like a diamond in the jewellery shop full of gold. Light looks dope in night. Review is clear! Thanks for clarification!
Nice!!! I’ve only watched about 50 seconds and you’re already scratching records and doing bad ass things ON TOP OF MOUNTAINS! You got me good. Last week you said “wait til next week.” I didn’t see this coming. That’s really good
Haha, thank you as always! Currently working on some behind the scenes videos of something we've been working on. Should come in a few weeks, will be rather special (to me at least) and you will for sure not have seen that coming either :-)
Nice review. Good to hear what issues you came across. Strange to see sweat get inside. The yellowing over time is the deal breaker for me even though I like the translucent look.
Thanks! Yes the yellowing has gotten much worse by now, I rarely wear the watch due to this. I still wear it, but just way less since it took on its “patina”. I might just get another bracelet as I do enjoy the watch itself.
2 years later still a great video. Very articulate 👍🏽
Great detailed review thanks for the honesty! Still a fun and attractive watch, just picked it up. If the straps get nasty over time I might switch them out with another color.
Totally, still wearing and enjoying mine as well :-) Congrats with the new watch and many thanks for the kind feedback!
Soak it in vinegar every once in awhile, goddamn you lazy ass people!
Yo anty !!! Remember we can just use salon care 40 creamer and saran wrap to un yellow them like them concord 11’s lol
I think the strap is replaceable, u can buy online..
@@hartygan6265 I can't find any sales available.
Ur spot on for the 1st 2 issues. Water seepage between the case and band colorization. Ur also correct that its a fun summer watch. Want to see how the metal case version is. Eyeing the green dial.
Thanks a lot Oki! I have one of the metal G-shocks ones (not this particular model) and it’s heaps of fun. Much heavier though, as you can imagine :-) Many thanks for watching and the feedback 🙏
@@degriff Always enjoy watching your reviews. Keep up the excellent work.
@@okiali6381 Thank you, I really appreciate it and it is encouraging to read!
So glad you showed this! I was just about to order it... Not now👍🏻
Glad it was useful! I can only say the yellowing has gotten much worse now, at the point where I'm not wearing the watch much anymore at all..
Really good review. Thank you!
Excellent, detailed and honest review!!
Many thanks, much appreciate the kind feedback!
Great points . I agree with you about the stiffness of the strap . I own a GA2000ske model . The strap was horrendously stiff and very uncomfortable. I took the strap off the watch , I placed the strap at the bottom of a drinking glass to mimic the shape that it should be .then I poured boiling water on it and let it sit for 2 to 3 mins. Then remove the strap from the glass and it has now retained the proper shape the fit my wrist . Just a quick tip for anyone dealing with clear/semi-transparent straps
😱 extreme diy! :-) Thanks for the kind feedback!
I tried this with mine but it didn’t resolve the stiffness of the ridges near the case. Must be really miss matched with the shape of my wrist because it mainly happens on the right side but not on the left. Do you know at all if the other colours ways (not transparent) are softer on the ridges section please?
Superb review again, honest and straight to the point! To your question: that water issue would drive me mad even if it happened just once or twice…. I think I’ll look at the red one for some fire on the wrist..
Many thanks as ALWAYS! The red one has one major flaw as well, despite the many shades of red to help with legibility - it is very hard to read the time on it. I personally actually went to the shop for the red initially, believe it or not, but the aforementioned ruined that and then fell for this skeleton version instead :-)
Yup your right very honest with the review
Very helpful review, thanks!
Glad it was helpful, many thanks for watching! :-)
Very helpful. Tnx 🙏
Great review!
Also, cool mountainous background! WOW!!!
Thanks man, that was an awesome hike for sure :-)
Another amazing video my friend!
Many thanks again! 🙏
Nice review. May I just point out that this watch is 200m water resistant. The water you see is seeping in-between the bezel case and the watch unit. Just so happens this bezel is clear and you can see the moisture. It will eventually dry out. And the yellowing is inevitable, not a fault of Casio, is a natural reaction.
The first time I went swimming in the pool with this watch, I panicked as well - figuring it would be dead. Looked it up and saw most G-Shocks do this. However, the water in mine dissipated in about 10 minutes (in the sun). The yellowing was expected, but a combination of Dawn, white vinegar and a toothbrush has kept it minimum. (However, what it looks like once my tan is gone will be interesting!) Fun watch indeed. I've worn it the most all summer.
Excellent review - great scenes too. Where did you hike?
Does the straps get yellowish? Should i buy black one or transparent
A little, but I've cleaned them in peroxide. Got better, not perfect
@@sportsquare2546 I went on-line and bought replacement strap and bezel for the transparent version. I used Pac Parts and was very pleased. Looks like it did when I bought it.
hope you get this.. where is pacparts on ebay? Have you ever tried using bleach? I've heard bleach clears yellow from cell phone cases, wondering if it would work with that. I really like the clear one, i just hear people say it turns yellow in six months.
Doesn’t it make a big difference if it is said to be water resistant and not water proof? To me resistant is ok for rain or a shower but not ok to fully submerge, is that correct?
Was going to buy this… not now. Thankyou.
Very nice and very honest with subject
Thank you! It is the aim of the channel :-)
thanks , bro, I was couple clicks away to buy this from Amazon... Im going for another color.
the face of this watch in the stealth black case is perfection
True :-)
After doing a lot of research on this watch you're missing a big point about water seeping into the bezel...The bezel and the case is fully customizable. It's designed to be easy removable so you can customize the watch and change colors and styles! It's one of the reasons I decided to buy it after watching your video. When it's yellows eventually, you can change the bezel case and the straps entirely. Good stuff though, nice video quality!
It's £100 watch, changing things would increase the cost, rather buy a watch that's definitive or if you want to change designs, why not try an apple watch
where do you even buy the clear straps?
Hi ive just literally taken this watch out of the box and noticed that London Time on the watch is 1 hour behind . How do i change it manually ? Any advice is welcome ! TIA
The water issue is a super deal breaker for me. I wanted it for swimming, as I do for all my watches. Thank you for the heads-up.
Me2 bruh so dissapointed
Glad it was helpful! Any of the other colors will not show this, maybe pick one of those? I wear the yellow one nowadays, super fun watch (video also on this channel)
I have the blue one, and don't see the water issue you mentioned, could be just that it's there but the blue bezel of mine blocks it from the view? I quite like it but also feel the SKX pulls me towards it more because of it's mechanical allure lol
Nice review, I must say the yellowing discoloration of the strap is such a big disappointemnt. G shock must used a resin that prevents the strap turning yellowish. But over all the minimalist design looks really great. I bought mine just a week a go and i fell inlove with the look of it. Its beautiful and affordable compare to other g shock watches.
I love the design. But would just pick any other color at this point, anything but the see through.. it is incredibly brownish/yellow at this point
@@degriffis it true that it seems transparent on hands even if it's yellow
Excellent video
Thank you Thomas! 🙏
Thanks man
It does look cool... thank you for confirming my worries... I probably get another variant.
No problem 👍 I wear the yellow one, love it to boys. Did a video on that, also on the channel 👍
Do you think the grey skeleton (grey translucent in GA2100 futur collaborated model will also go yellow?
Hey atelier, the jellyfish rainbow sold on iflw will also turn yellow right?
just picked up this for me and my wife, still looks gorgeous on her wrist. cant wait for them to yellowing off, more vintage 😂
About the case, I think it's because they are removable and not sealed too, water can seep in easily and stay in there for a while, well that's a drawback.. but the plus point is that we can easily modify the case, replace it with another model, as I have seen on many forums that people do this kind of modification to their gshock
so the water problem is not a deal breaker for me although honestly it's still annoying if it keeps happening again and again 🙄
anyway, thanks for the great review, just watched your other videos, keep it up!
Many thanks! You will both for sure still enjoy the watch, no worries there :-) Much appreciate the kind feedback!! 🙏🥂👍
This watch does get a yellowish tint after a while, if you buy it make sure to apply some kind of UV protection to it that does not afect the skin, that is in case you want to keep it pristine transparent for longer.
Amazing review, i like how you went to the negatives of the watch. Just received mine today and will be doing a review as well. Im fully expecting the band to yellow and i can replace it in the future. My question is has your case yellowed? its not as clear like the band. If it yellows, can Gshock just replace it as well? If so, then you could just replace the band and case in the future at a low cost when you feel it has become to yellow for your liking.
Thank you! So far I noticed that the case seems fine and also, strangely enough - the keeper on the strap. The strap yellowing however has only gotten stronger. Still a fun watch of course, but I can imagine this could bother some people a LOT. Many thanks for watching 👍
does gshock sells replacement strap? the yellowing on mine is getting worst day by day even when I have it in storage, I plan to modify it with a 3rd party casioak strap but I would actually prefer its transparent look if I could.
@@jspr2 is the case yellowing as well or just the strap? im sure they sell replacement straps. If you have a casio or g shock store near you go in and ask or email them. Let me know what they say. i just got mine and no yellowing so far. check it out czcams.com/video/gFbAesujkPM/video.html
Very informative vid, thank you. "Nicotine yellow" strap 😄😄😄
Edit: I wonder if the water ingress issue occurs with the other models in this series, but isn't noticed due to the opacity of the bezel?
Thank you! It is indeed the same on all models, just not seen due to the opacity of the bezel. The bezel is only there for shock protection, not for waterproofness. Many thanks for watching!
Thanks for your careful review 😎 m gonna buy this handsome watch but after all i won't purchase it
Please advise, that little hand that points to the day, should it make a full circle or only toggle when you are adjusting it ? I think Mine is broken because it makes a full circle backwards & forwards. Thanks
It is not broken, it doesn’t do a full circle all the time at all 👍
They should make these interchangeable by being able to remove the bezel and put in any case and strap combo...
It is. Many mod choices for this watch.
The yellowing is surely expect for a transparent strap, but I think due to the design on the watch, the water entering into the bezel is kinda of a deal breaker for a G SHOCK. Due to there is no back cover with a o-ring under the watch like conventional G SHOCK, my guess is that water can easily enter through the small cavities. But this should happen to any water resistance watch especially with just sweat, and surely shouldn’t be seen on a G SHOCK which advertises on shock and water resistant.
The watch is waterproof, the bezel is purely for shock protection so water will get behind the bezel. This is not an issue with opaque bezels. All transparent plastics will eventually yellow. Perhaps yellowing of the plastic is not a problem or noticeable in Far East markets?! 😱The watch is fun and value for money especially considering that being a G-Shock it will handle anything you throw at it.
Is it true this isn't really a gshock because it isn't resistant to shock?
for regular weekend Fri-Sat-Sun wear, would you recommend the white or the transparent one?? I get the transparent gets yellow but the white could definitely get dirty and yellow as well...! 😪😪
Yellow, black, white, transparent - in that order :-)
You should bought the Kaki one! It looks better and can't see the water under 🙂
I want to buy this
This guy never makes a bad video. #1 watch guy I want to have a beer with. That watch is gross; reminds me of those jelly shoes girls wore in the late 80’s and it puts all your bacteria on display 😂
Haha! :-D Thank you VERY much Chawn, always a pleasure to read you here and we should definitely make that beer (preferably more than one) happen in the future!! Much appreciate the continued support!
i got lucky to order this off the website a week ago. i have two others still waiting. I sweat a lot so this may be better for dinner vs the skatepark. I like the exclusivity on this model only one per household sorry wify.
😂👍 If you want more than one, I would recommend checking out a few physical stores. Here (Western Europe) they are quite easily found in the shops and do not have that “single item per household” as on the official website 👍 Happy wife, happy life ;-)
I was going to get this till I saw this video...do they have a replacement strap that isn't fully transparent? Maybe that would halt the yellow issue? The water issue is a bummer but makes me wonder if this is a problem on this model but the jelly version just makes it noticeable
You can swap on a strap from any of the other colors in this series. I have a few and they all fit. Easy to do as well, they have quick release
very good video
Thanks!
ya obviously some water seeping through the bezel. Does this happen to all skeleton models?? i'm planning to get GA-2000SKE..pls help me decide :(
They are fun watches, but the water thing is not limited to this one watch, there is no seal so this will happen to all of them including the 2000 series 🤷♂️ Don’t let that stop you, and I would worry more about the yellowing as that is the most obvious after a while :-) I’m fine with both, and still like the watch
Don't waste your money. The clear ones turn dingy yellow after a couple months.
Correct
True like the other vloggers watch it turned Yellow sad to say. But if you can avoid the water do it unless youre a Diver or working at the Sea
Doesn't bleach work...dont people do that with clear cell phone cases
@@Guinea54 nothing works tbh
Its called worn n wear..
How much is it ?
so do you mean that it is not a good watch to wear at the sea or pool for swimming? what do you think? it wont bother if water goes under the bezel but if it gets spoilt quickly will be bad
The water resistance is totally fine. But visually the water will definitely get under the bezel and be visible as shown in the video. It is a tough watch, pool and swimming won’t hurt it one bit :-) Thanks for watching!
I really want this watch and it will cost a lot to me. I was wondering how much yellowing will happen.
Will it be ugly? I dnt mind the colour yellow, but I have no idea if the watch itself will look good
A lot of yellowing. And imho yes it is ugly
Any methods to remove the water from the watch?
What works best for me is to take it off the wrist and leave it on the side for a bit. Check back a few hours later and most will have gone away 👍 In a humid climate this takes longer
i've never had water appear under my bezel
True..
Water and sweat getting into a tight area and staying for days sounds, well, bad. Did you notice any issues with odor?
No issues with odor that I can notice :-) Indeed, this is happening to any and all watches in the 2100 series, it just happens to be visible on this one since it is see through. Good news is that it is not too difficult to remove the resin case and give the watch the occasional rinse... That said, I don't think the average consumer would know or be happy to do that.. ever?
@@degriff I don't think water will get in with the metal version, though, right???
@@ams914 Since there is no seal there either, I would fully expect this to happen there as well - you just can't see it
@@degriff Well it must be okay because that style of caseback is on almost all the G-shocks, right? So I assume none have seals yet they've all been in water with zero issues? Weird.
@@ams914 yes I have no doubt it is okay, just not a pretty look with a transparant case (imho) 👍
Can anyone tell me, for the love of god, how in the world do you set the time on this watch? I just bought one that didn’t come with any instructions and I’m going crazy right now. Every time I make an adjustment on the hands they swing back to the factory set time for some reason…
😂👍 sounds familiar! :-) Check the guide right here (scroll down to “operating guide”, explains it nicely: www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/product.GA-2100-1A1/
@@degriff life saver, thank you!
Mine was yellow brand new right out of the box. It's going to happen. I don't mind it though, you don't notice so much when wearing it as it contrasts against the skin.
True, but I can’t say it doesn’t bother me, because it does 🥹 I wear the yellow one most often nowadays
the yellowing is it ugly or is it acceptable? cause i want it to buy GMA-S120SR-7ADR for my wife
It is a personal taste but I can’t say it is “pretty”? I was fully expecting it, so not complaining. But it definitely looks better before it yellows. I hope this helps
@@degriff ok than thanks a lot for answering me, btw congrats you got your self a new subscriber from indonesia
@@birumutiara2169 Hah thank you!
They look dirty when they yellow.
Have used the watch as a daily wear for a few months now. Unfortunately,.it's no longer transparent. Yellowing is really bad. How do I clean it and make it all new again??
There is, as far as I know, no way to stop the yellowing and certainly not a way to fully reverse it. Unfortunately, this is the one big negatives of this watch as mentioned in the video..
@@degriff I saw a video where the entire strap was color dyed to black. I guess I'm going to try that out. Although I find it quite surprising that the strap can't be restored back to its original form.
@@romitjethwaney I feel you, I have the exact same issue with the watch unfortunately, rarely still wear it because of it (it looks dirty basically). If it is just the STRAP, then I could also recommend you simply get a replacement strap in any other color? They are quite easy to swap actually, and avoids the hassle of having to mess up the existing strap with a dye process? By the way - thank you for watching, much appreciated!
@@degriff Right! I didn't know you could change straps. What keyword do I type when looking for this model strap?
@@romitjethwaney Either somehow get hold of an official one, which is challenging, or just google for "GA-2100 Casioak watch strap" - there are even entire shell + strap replacements available
Any way to clean the yellowing off?
Hey Roberto, there is no way unfortunately, the material itself takes on the yellowing inside and out, just the nature of these resins.
@@degriff thanks brother.. my watcb comes in monday.. im still excited for it. Thanks 4 the response.
@@robertovindell My pleasure! And thanks for watching! Despite the yellowing (which I was expecting), I still think it's a super fun watch, I wear it with joy and I'm sure you will as well :-) Congratulations with the incoming watch!
This is a good unit to drop into a stainless steel mod bracelet. Keep the original bracelet in mint condition in its tin box.
how do you get rid of the yellowish color after wearing it a month or so???
You can't unfortunately
Is the water clogging issue also the same with GA 2100HC-2ADR-G1116 ?
While I haven't tested it, the construction is the same, so the answer will be yes indeed
@@degriff Thank you very much for your quick response, appreciate it!
@@degriff just a follow up question on that… is it easy to remove the transparent case where the water clogs and use the watch without that, is it possible or would that damage the overall built of the watch?
can you change the starps when you bored?
Yes, they have quick release 👍
I have the iridiscient g shock 2100,mate it gets more attention that rolex
I love those dials 🤩
Man, that look is tight! I don't plan to go swimming with it...
It looks fantastic. Mine yellowed quite a bit by now and… well now I just wear the actual yellow one most often 😆
the yellowing of the watch is annoying
how to clean that ???
You can’t really clean that, just the nature of see through resins.. 🤷♂️
@@degriff I saw some tutorial that help to clean this kind of stuff by using bicarbonate of sodium or white vinagar I m going to try that
I love the water effect. Makes it more versatile.
Hah, interesting perspective! 😆👍
I have to say that these problems should have been ironed out before putting the model on sale. We all know that no watch is perfect, but the problems you have highlighted are definitely design and quality control issues.
I totally agree. Also - many thanks for watching!
omg THE WATER ISSUE WILL HAPPEN ON ALL GA2100 'S BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DISIGENED THE SAME. I GUESS THIS IS THE ONLY MODEL YOU KNOW WHEN THEIRS EVEN WATER IN IT. do the Metal Versions have the same gap?
