  • March 2024: Welcome to the first of my intended monthly update videos! In an attempt to make more regular content I am planning to produce these little 10 minute masterpieces as we make progress on the multi-gauge shelf layout.

    Great to see the update. The loco and coaches are snaking their way round very smoothly. Nicely done! Keep up the good work old boy😂

    Thanks for the mention Martin. You're most welcome. Good luck with the layout. I like the idea of using TT to create perspective. Enjoy and have fun.

    Hello from the states. I gather the shed was built on site rather than delivered like all woodsheds here. Great video and it answers a lot of future questions.

    • @shedmouthjunction
      @shedmouthjunction  Před 4 měsíci

      Hello, Yes the shed was originally a small 6x4, just big enough for some garden tools, a bit of shelving and a few bicycles. It started to leak and fall down so I had to get permission from my landlord to build a bigger concrete base and put a bigger shed on it. I love being out here, quite often im in the shed more than in the house! 😀😂😂

      Thank you so much Deano, yeah those coaches were a little bargain for sure. I do like a cheeky bargain 😂😂👍

    Yes! Do it as modular as you can so you can take it with you.
    I've been messing around (procrastinating) for ages because we need to move fairly often.
    I'm now building a little layout and my scenic work will be concentrated on 2 4ft x 2ft modules that can be pulled out without destroying them.
    The rest will mostly be boards with no scenics just to make a roundy roundy layout.
    The Hornby coaches are fine but not as good as the Hattons ones. Anyway, good luck with it all mate. Cheers!

      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Ill be taking your advice for sure, the more I've though about it since making the video, I need to really make sure its removable before I really hammer home the track pins ! haha. Thank you again for your time. Kindest regards, Martin

    Some great ideas there, particularly the potential for false perspective with TT120 at the back. Pete Waterman seems to spend a lot of time on sightlines through curves, which is worth it vs straight lines. Enjoyable update, thank you.

      Thank you so much for watching. I'm really looking forward to seeing the 2 scales running together. I've had the TT120 loco for a few weeks now and I've not had chance to see it running yet. But good things come to those who wait... as my old mum used to say 😂

    Good find on the teak coaches I did get the last set of Hattons ones and there great detail, Nice to see 47576 on the go. My home town Loco

      Ah yes those Teaks were an absolute bargain. Hornby did a fantastic job on those for sure. The 47 is little gem, I grew up seeing that NSE livery every day rattling through my little home town. I absolutely, I'd love an 08 in the same livery at some point, its on the never ending wish list 😂

    Nice update, Martin - in case you haven't already, maybe check out Boomer Diorama River Road, his is a Canadian rather than British layout, but he makes his baseboards and scenic areas so they can be removed/dismantled if need be in the future. Lots of videos, though, so might take some wading through, but his modelling is incredible.

    great video , not a TT fan but it does look good in forced perspective , gives a look of being on an embankment a distance away , like your NSE set up but then i'm a big 47 fan

    • @shedmouthjunction
      @shedmouthjunction  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thank you Paul, yeah that NSE livery is a bit of me for sure.... it always reminded me of my Suzuki GSXR 750 with the Blue/white/red combo. Although its much harder to wheelie a 47 😂😂

    Is it an option to put another board on top of the shelf with some space underneath for wiring? Then you can split the layout in separate modules that can be reassembled in a different order if you have unified end sections

    Hi Martin.
    Great update buddy.
    Really great Idea having two gauges on one layout, get N gauge as well wow.
    Wish I could find bargins like those coaches, lights in them as well.
    I don't know anything about renting Martin, but is there no long term security for you.
    Thanks again mucker.
    ....Pete....

    • @shedmouthjunction
      @shedmouthjunction  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Pete ! thank you my good man! N-gauge is definitely on my radar 😂😂 Once Tracy gets over my latest TT120 purchase 😂😂.
      Sadly Pete, with renting there is not a lot we can do. The landlord has to give us a few months or so notice but other than that he can decide to sell up whenever he likes. We have been here 13 years and he is a fantastic landlord, but its always in the back of our minds.
      Thanks again Pete.
