Please do a video showing off your cockpit and what you chose and how you put it togehter.
Could be a good idea for the future :)
Virpil constellation alpha primes were a game changer for me!
I went with HOSAS + pedals. Ultimate control and immersion !
Worth every penny!
Thanks for this, I actually for the longest time was just using mouse plus keyboard because I was too lazy to think of a sane control scheme for star citizen after switching over from elite dangerous :D Very useful, especially since I use exactly this HOTAS, I just have the 2nd panel module too
Haha, hopefully a little inspiration! But the advantage of this setup is you can choose exactly how you want it :)
@@Farrister Exactly! I did add a few things, like I use the analogue sticks for the strafing instead of the trim, since I am used to that setup from ED, but otherwise it's extremely helpful, especially because of how CGI decided to name and sort the functions in the settings.... and how you can't even search for things, like you can in DCS
Nice overview. I feel like Star Citizen really could do with a 'modifier' button like DCS has. While holding 1 button on the HOTAS you get a 2nd function for the buttons on it. Especially using something budget like a T16000M with limited button options it is a great help!
totally aye, i think you can do it through macros with 3rd party software, like joy2key.... but yeah its so complex as it is.
This video was super useful as you explain some keybinding which aren't that obvious what to use for. And you also give a good summary what keybinding we would possibly need, and what others can be ignored. This video should be attached to the game as a guide for the keybindings.
I hop that one day CIG creates specific profiles and setups for each ship. That should really make immersion perfect in this game.
Can just imagine the complexity though, like DCS!
@@Farrister True, but if CIG is going for perfection for when they get to the 1.0 release, it would seem like a natural step. For example a Drake ship would have HOTAS, a Mirai ship would have a HOSAS, and anything from Crusader would have a HOTAY (Hands on Throttle and Yoke). Though it absolutely shouldn't be a requirement, but more like an option encouraged to players through this game. Release Pyro and at least four other systems then we'll call that.
For me though my setup is simple. Cargo, combat, and racing (though I rarely do that). Haven't gotten the full setup yet since money is tight in America.
@Lucasi_F
I've had my eyes on Virpil for a long time and play to upgrade my duel T16000Ms to Virpil hardware soon. You've just sold them to me even more. I've been watching a lot of your videos over the last few days as I get back into Star Citizen and my goodness do you put out some quality vids. Keep it up good sir! They are much appreciated.
Good info provided, looks like a great setup! Ending was super cool 😊
wow this is exactly what no one else could explain.. great freaking job. such a headache with the new changes.
Glad it was helpful! Took me a while to think how to show it all
Thanks for the walk-through, Farrister! I'm going to be tackling resetting my keybinds very soon.
Always takes a while!
Love my Virpil kit for SC but so many key binds. :D
I can hardly wait for the day they polish the options system. I hope they give us a binding page like in Microsoft Flight Sim, that one is a joy to use.
I wiped my bindings for 2.23, figured enough had changed to warrant a rethink of everything. Still not happy with my new layout might use a few of your ideas. :)
This is my exact hardware setup except I use track IR instead of Tobi. The only thing I really have to question is why you would not put the strafing on the throttle analog ministick. I put the speed limiter on the throttle flaps stick, but I can see why you went with mining power. I really like what you did with the power triangle, I might try that as well.
The other big difference on my setup is my throttle has an indent and covers forward and reverse thrust and my stick pinky analog input is set to space break instead of reverse thrust. I might try it your way and see how it feels. I might change the landing handle control to somehow work with QT mode to feel more impactful =)
I love this hardware, and I hope you do too. I also picked up their desk mounts and they are nice and convenient. They clamp on and off and bare the weight and force perfectly. It only takes a few min to un simulator my desk.
I have the same set up plus control panel #1.
So fancy!
Awesome video, but I just want to say..thank you, thank you thank you! As you might remember I picked up a Control Panel #1 and foot pedals to go along with my two alpha prime sticks. And yes it’s all Virpil but in the middle of relocating so haven’t set anything up yet since 3.23 dropped. This video gave me great ideas of how I will setup mine once I rebuild my game room setup in about a month or so… Cheers Farrister!! 🙏🏾
Hope it goes well - exciting times!
Very nice set up.
Thanks!
Nice video Farrister
Thanks!
damn i wish virpil kindly provided me too xD
Haha, it was awesome when all the boxes arrived!
@@Farrister enjoy!
I have the exact same Virpil stick and throttle, but I don’t’ really understand how to set the software, like how to set different colors for the buttons. Can you make a video about the Virpil control setup pls ?
Btw, you convinced me to buy the control panel 😁
Made a note as a future idea :) have you checked out Noobifier here on CZcams? Some incredible guides for Virpil software and hardware. And I hope you enjoy it!
@@Farristerthx I’ll check !
Where did you find you templates? I've been looking for this exact hardware setup for awhile but haven't been able to source the button layout templates.
can you share the mounts you are using, specifically for the throttle as pictured at 9:24? tyvm - great vid
With all that set up. Do you use them for when not piloting? Or do you transition to mouse and keyboard for outside the cockpit?
Usually switch to M+K for non pilot (on foot, turret gunner)
What is your throttle and control panel mounted on?
Which mount do you use to hold the VPC Universal Control Panel at 45 degrees ?
MonsterTech mount!
What hotas mount are you using for the throttle and control panel. I have both and I'm using Virpirl's but they are too close to each other and hard to use
do you think MM killed dual stick usage or is that still viable?
What is the simpit frame you are using?? It looks similar to monstertehc but i swear its something else.
It is MonsterTech! It's a few years old at this point though
@@Farrister how did you moun the panel infront of your throttle?

Hi Farrister can you tell me if controllers work in star citizen. Tried but can't get it to work.. 😞
Like Xbox controllers? Should do! I use an Xbox controller for a lot of my footage in game
@@Farrister i have a playstation edge controller. Saved keybindings slots ie mouse, keyboard and controller but doesn't work ingame...
Can you provide link to the blank sheets
Yes - I got from here: support.virpil.com/en/support/solutions/folders/47000787103
Finally they made them, had ask virpil about them in the past but the didn't have them
Hasn't play for awhile, still can't save bindings? lol
