I really do think that Jurassic Park III deserves way more love, it is a truly underrated and great film to this sequel.
Hot Take: The Lost World: Jurassic Park is one of the most underrated movies. Characters are great, has a lot of tense scenes, really cool locations; overall I love it!

I swear everyone liked this movie until internet criticism became a big thing.
Nothing will ever beat the original Jurassic Park from 1993. It was a monumental film in cinematic history. The second time I saw it, it no longer gave the scares.

I felt the same way wasn't great, could've been a lot better but it entertained me alot so I can't complain
The raptor chase scene in Malta was frenetic and a lot of fun, if anything they seemed a little overpowered and it could have been done with traditional velociraptors, but it worked great, kinda reminded me of The Lost World arcade shooter game.
Then there are also plenty of interesting dinosaurs and scenes to like.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is such a scattershot love-letter to genre filmmaking, adventure, and dinosaurs, I never thought I'd see this kind of movie made on this scale. It might not be for everyone, but I love it and I'm sure glad it exists.

I didn't feel the suspense or tension at all in Fallen Kingdom it felt hindered by the cheesy characters and poor humour and The Lost World is the sequel that handled both humour and suspense perfectly with Jeff Goldblum's line delivery and timing!

I'm not too down on The Lost World or 3; I think they both capture the adventure movie spirit and I like that you always know a scary monster is just around the corner.
Jurassic Park 3 is my favorite in the franchise.

I don’t think Dominion lied - we got to see how life is like with Dinosaurs on the mainland, the world, the consequences. The new reel, Owen herding Parasaurolophus, Claire & co combating poachers, the where the captured dinosaurs go & the black market for selling species/underground fighting matches.
I also think you missed a bit, and some of the “dumb” critiques are completely unfair. Ellie investigating makes perfect sense - as Ian says in 1993 - she’s tenacious. She’s always been about doing the right thing. She specialises in plant science being a (paelo)botanist. Grant comes along *because* his expertise are still surrounding animal behaviour, dinosaurs, and they’ve dealt with companies like Ingen prior. Also as they say themselves in the film it was for *them*. She wasn’t happy alone, neither was he .
Plus the others weren’t recruited by the CIA. Franklin merely showed that *Barry was working with the CIA as French intelligence*. Owen is good and old friends with Barry, offering a favour is legit *nothing new* in a film like this.
The laser following raptors is a) nothing new b) part of the incorrectness of the critique of firstly no dinos on the mainland & secondly the consequences of that c) the handler even takes a shot at both hybrids & weaponised dinos, she’s merely selling them.
Every talks about originality, doing something different. This film is about corporate espionage - because the franchise has legit always been about those themes. All of Critchon’s work has always been about man playing god, genetics, missuse of technology, man abusing nature, corporate espionage. That’s legit what this film is. Jurassic Park is a film about corporate misuse of genetics *with dinosaurs in it*. This film is a film about corporate misuse of genetics *with dinosaurs in it* as well.

Not too long ago I rewatched the original Jurassic Park, which I hadn’t seen since I was a kid. I didn’t love the franchise because it was pretty much just movie after movie about dinosaurs eating people for two hours as far as I could tell, but I was blown away at how incredible a film the original was! It was one of the most intense thrillers I’ve seen with stunning effects, brilliant directing and absolutely phenomenal acting! You couldn’t be more right that it is leagues beyond all the others, which are all crude, pale imitations of a fantastic, timeless film.
BRUH WATCH THE ORIGINAL JURASSIC WORLD, IT IS SO MUCH BETTER AND IS NOTHING LIKE THE OTHER CRAPPY MOVIES. BELIEVE WHAT YOU WHAT, BUT AT LEAST GIVE JURASSIC WORLD A TRY!
Remember how you felt when you first saw the credits start to roll after Top Gun: Maverick? That's the same feeling I got with Jurassic Park seeing a helicopter flying off into the sunset with legendary John Williams music playing. The same feels. I just knew I just watched something truly great.

Agreed. They should've showed more dinos wrecking havoc in major cities like in LA or New York kind of like the San Diego sequence in the third act of Lost World but on steroids and more dinosaurs.

The OG JP is easily the best. But the LW JP is the one I enjoy the most, so much T Rex action and a simple story. Thats all I want and it delivers in spades.
As a kid I always thought I liked the Lost World more because it's more violent but as an adult I prefer the first.
This is my exact ranking of these films as well! Well I guess it’s close to most people’s rank. And Jurassic Park is my second favourite film of all time, and I love this franchise even though it has a lot of poor choices in some films, I still find them super rewatchable.

Absolutely loved your breakdown of Jurassic Park
Honestly? I loved Dominion. It went in a different direction compared to the other movies and I still enjoyed it. But it definitely wasn't perfect. What they should've done? Split the movie in two parts. The first part be about how the dinosaurs are all over the world, how humanity has to co exist with them along with the Biosyn plot of having them seem like the good guys, be in reality be the ones causing damage. Also shouldn't have cut the Prologue for the start of the film. Have the first part end where the OG cast meets Claire and Owen. Than for the 2nd part, they work together to take down Biosyn and save Maise and Beta. That would've worked.

You mind If I tweak it a bit? Because for me I would have done where in the beginning humans are now trying to coexist among the dinosaurs and as such Biosyn is advertised as pro Dino’s and humans and trying to put them in a place where dinosaurs can roam free and happy while also out of harms way with Humans. Because of this, Claire and Owen help them along with the original cast helping them because they dealt with dinosaurs before and help them find a island or country to live in, but halfway through, realize that they are only doing it to do illegal research on it and then try to take them down alongside with the original trio. And once they take them down and just do the inevitable and just kill the dinosaurs because there would be no way they could coexist with humans peacefully while also giving a proper send off to Rexy, blue, and beta.

My current ranking:
1. Jurassic Park obviously
2. The Lost World: Jurassic Park, love the opening and the set pieces including the truck scene, love the cast almost as much as the first, but the highs aren’t as high, also acrobatics
3. Jurassic World, like the theme park meta commentary and enjoy it as is but it’s dumb fun junk food (Battle at Big Rock is somewhere below here and above Fallen)
4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, quite love the first act on the island and the Dino final act but not the cloning stuff in between
5. Jurassic Park III, short but sweet, despite Alan Grant, the spinosaur, and the lean runtime don’t feel much from this one, prefer Lost World
6. Jurassic World: Dominion, despite the set pieces and nostalgic union of characters too insulting to my intelligence

I think you should re watch fallen kingdom it’s definitely worse than dominion, I believe it captures tension way better than fallen kingdom and I do think the incorporation of the old cast wasnt extremely forced like no way home.

The thing is that the plot works for Fallen Kingdom it was just poorly executed. The volcano had absolutely nothing to do with plot. At its the core the plot is about poachers stealing dinosaurs for an evil man to experiment on to create killing machines to sell for a lucrative price

I honestly really like Fallen Kingdom! It's gorgeously directed, and even though aspects of the plot are definitely stupid, it's just less stupid than the other 4 films (minus the original of course). My ranking goes:
1. Jurassic Park
2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
3. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
4. Jurassic World
5. Jurassic World Dominion
6. Jurassic Park III
that is exactly my ranking as well, plus, I like all 6 in the series and people think there's something wrong with that

-JP1 (duh, it’s goated)
-JP2 (A great and underrated sequel, with some really cool dino sequences)
-FK (A fun time, with awesome direction - albeit with a questionable plot.)

-JP3 (introduced Spino, funny phone, still not the best)

I never expected a Season of the Witch clip in a Jurassic Park ranking but I love it and I’m here for it
I feel the Jurassic world dominion is a love letter to the entire franchise seeing it for the first time made smile ear to ear the Movie isn’t perfect but it should be ranked at least number three
The two best are definitely Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, but clearly the original is better. It’s aged incredibly well(especially the special effects) and honestly my only complaint is that Ian doesn’t really do much or affect the plot in many ways. It’s a great movie.
And I think that first Jurassic World is underrated at this point-people hate on it so much. Even though it’s not perfect, it is pretty good imo.
@RΔҒΔΣL Well, the only one that comes close is Jurassic World, and for what it’s going for, it does a pretty good job, but the original is far more original(obviously lol). And it also has far less lapses in logic than any other film as well. Even though I think Jurassic World captured the vibe of the Jurassic Park pretty well, it had too many mistakes as a film to be great like Jurassic Park was. The first is still the only great one
JW would beaten JP if it had Richard Attenborough and the 2 children from original with Grant and and Ellie being in it.

Just the fact grant satler and Malcom were back together was one of the most touching experiences I have had in cinema… they meant t so much to me as a kid and to see them together again on the big screen nearly 30 years later was emotional… I think they could have cut all the Claire / Owen / J world parts and just had this film centered around the OG 3 and their scenes, that would have been a perfect film!

Why are people ranking Jurassic park 3 so low?? Literally so stupid, it’s a great film
It is not a great movie. The characters are all unlikeable af except grant who u can tell Sam neill didn’t care about the movie. Literally large parts of the movie are spent walking around the jungle with character s we don’t like talking about stuff we don’t care about. breaking up Alan and Ellie, really dumb story and plot holes. I don’t think it’s the worse as it has a few good scenes but god it’s definitely not a great movie
@@xxitactical_8723 *Yes* it *is* a great movie. It’s a fantastic and entertaining movie, it has the spinsoaurus which is one the best dinosaurs, the movie takes place on isla sorna which is the same island as the lost world, Amanda is a badass, has SAM NEILL back. Alan and Ellie were *never* dating in Jurassic park, just partners. It has a GOOD story and plot, the lost world is the one that has a dumb story and plot and talks about stuff that we don’t care about unlike JP3. It has PLENTY of great scenes such as the plane crashing scene with the spinsoaurus attacking the plane, the pterodactyls are great, the spinsoaurus attacking the characters while in the river at night while it’s raining and the spinosaurus getting surrounded by fire was amazing and epic and many more so yes it is absolutely a great movie there’s no doubt or question about that.
I actually liked fallen kingdom, i enjoyed the plot and like the twists and turns that happens near the end. I hoped that dominion would continue the awesome cliff hanger, but they completely botched it. My list is like yours, but I’d switch fallen kingdom with dominion so it can be last.
I agree, Fallen Kingdom may not be the traditional Jurrasic Park movie but it was a really great dino movie.

I have yet to see Dominion and I love the first 5 movies. The first 3 JP movies I saw in theaters and that was an amazing experience and the entire theater was nearly empty. Eventhough Ian Malclom almost dies in the first movie when hes provoking the Rex by shining the match while being chased and then flings it...he gave me that vibe that he was actually going to become lunch.

The Lost World Jurassic Park: Honestly I appreciated this movie more and I understand the hate it gets but I honestly loved what Steven Spielberg was trying to do and In my opinion I liked it, The Trex in the city was good, The Tall grass was awesome and scary, I actually didn't mind Jeff Goldblum as our main character. (8/10)
4. Jurassic World: This used to be my favorite but I didn't like the cast as I used to Besides Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. (8/10)
5. Jurassic World Dominion: Man the story really dragged it out but the best part where The cast and The Dinosaurs themselves and visuals are awesome. (8/10)

Nah Dominion was definitely not as good as we all thought. It didn’t really talk about Dinosaurs but focused more on Macy and the bugs. Your list is accurate but I would put JW at 2 and Dominion at 4
@@edycalderon4682 yeah I had some recentey biased but is still prefer it over lost world. Malcom just doesn't work as the main character and it feels like 2 film smudge together at the end

This had so much potential to be awesome...........it's just too bad though that it had to be a discounted version of the first two movies while also adding so many stupid things here and there.

This was a guilty pleasure for me. It may have had its dumb moments, but it was also enough to keep me entertained!
4: Jurassic World: Dominion
Director Colin Trevorrow said that this would end up being a movie that Jurassic fans would love. And he was right about that!! I highly recommend watching the extended edition since it adds so much more, while also putting back in the prologue as the true beginning.

This was back when I waited almost 14 years for one of my all time favorite franchises to make a comeback with a new entry to make me love it all over again......and the wait was more than worth it!!!

This is a worthy sequel to the original, and one I feel.....doesn't get enough credit. It's a fun ride all throughout, and I love it!

Jurassic Park III is super underrated. It has everything. Nostalgia bringing in Alan Grant. Some they have to save. The annoying parents. The story is so good lol.

@@michaelcanada6583 I feel the only flaws with the original are that:
1. Some of the CGI is dated, particularly with the raptors later in the film. Most of the effects are amazing but is clear that a good chunk of them are from 1993.
2. I feel that there are a lot of cheesy moments with the original. Some examples include the arc about Allan learning to appreciate kids ( a trope that was being done alot even at that time) or a lot of Nedrys dialog. I like a lot of cheesy stuff and it's not a huge issue, buy some of the 90s cheese in the original is noticeable.
The original is still an important classic, but opposed to what many say, it's not perfect.

I had to toss Willow in there. That's actually my first favorite movie in the 80s followed by Twiins. Add 89 Batman too but I don't find it a great film. I put OG Top Gun in my top 12 because that's really the first movie I saw when I was 6.
These rankings aren't based on which movies I liked the most but how I felt when walking out of the theater. Did it blow my mind? A movie like Willow wouldn't rank in my top 100 these days.
There's Something About Mary is easily the funniest movie I saw in the theaters. I laughed so hard in the zipper scene, my belly was aching. Zack & Miri, Tropic Thunder, and A Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas were all LOL funny.
I saw The Passion of the Christ in the theater and I can't put it in my top 20. People walked out of the theater all quietly like they just attended a funeral.
The Shawshank Redemption still remains my favorite movie experience. I saw it January 1995 at age 14 thinking it's a boring prison movie. I walked out of the theater feeling I just experienced a retreat. I thought about that film for weeks and weeks waiting for it to come to VHS..
I'm surprised how high I put Top Gun 2. Higher than TDK? I think because I actually shed a tear for it and I felt great leaving the theater while TDK's wasn't as uplifting. I've only seen Top Gun 2 once but will see it again this week. I want to see it in IMAX or even 4DX as Tyrone Magnus suggested
I want to buy hats and shirts of Jurassic Park and Top Gun: Maverick but can't find ones I really like. There is one JP hat I like but it's $40 on ebay. I love JP1 but I wouldn't exactly put it in my top 50 favs. I still like Star Wars, MCU, and The Goonies way more.

One movie I initially hated when I first saw it in the theater was Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood. Then I got Regal Unlimited in Sept 2019 and saw it 5 more times in the theater. It's now one of my top 10 fav films ever. A hangout film like Dazed And Confused.

I really love the horror tone in some scenes and I feel like they should do an entire horror movie for Jurassic Park like in the Indoraptor bedroom scene.

I’ll never understand how someone could say that jurassic park 3 is the worst one. Completely stupid, at least it’s still a dinosaur movie that is still focused on dinosaurs unlike Jurassic world dominion which mostly only talks about locusts and fallen kingdom contains dinosaur abuse and death.

Fallen Kingdom has some cool ideas, like a haunted mansion with dinosaurs but it’s not executed well and sort of boring
Just saw JW dominion today, it was pretty good and a ton of fun but the plot was pretty far fetched
The plot was ridiculous, but man it sure was fun. I am disappointed we didn’t get the movie Fallen Kingdom set up Dominion to be. It became all about corporate corruption and money and not about the scariness of dinosaurs ruling the world and having to coexist with humanity. I think it’s so strange that they took the direction they did, but I definitely think it was entertaining. It’s like they skipped a whole movie. If they made a seventh movie and dominion is what we got, I bet it would be better received.

Schindler's List was mostly after Jurassic Park. Post-production began on JP when he was into pre-production and production of SL and he had George Lucas supervise post-production aside from John Williams' score. The fact that arguably his two best films or two of his three (saving private Ryan and raiders of the lost ark also in the mix) best were back to back says something though.

I haven’t seen Dominion yet, mostly because outside of the first one, I don’t really like these movies. The fact that Jurassic Park is a franchise is incredibly ironic because of the original movies commentary on what can happen when people care more about making money rather than making something good.

The original is clearly the best, but I just love that Alan is front and center by himself in JP3, as well as having the Spino to mix it up. The years I spent waiting for a fourth movie felt like an eternity. How many times I was at the movie theater, with a preview opening up with a shot of a tropical island or something only for it to end up being pirates of the caribbean or a nature documentary. Jurassic World was everything I could've wanted and more for that long awaited fourth installment.
Dominion works for me. It being described as very Mission Impossible-esque is right up my alley, because Jurassic and MI are my two favorite movie franchises. I do agree that the character selection for who are acting as "spies" was a letdown, but I dug the whole premise of what we got. Hopefully we see movies/a series about the time between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. There's a lot of fun they can have. Everyone being recruited by the CIA was for a special division dealing with the fact the dinos are all over the world, so it would make sense to have people that trained them, worked with them, or worked in the Jurassic World park and saw operarions.
Lost World feels the most like the original, and it contains one of my favorite sequences in the whole franchise (the raptors closing in within the tall grass is just *chefs kiss*), but it overall just doesnt do it for me. I think this and Fallen Kingdom have a similar vibe to them, perhaps thats on purpose to "rhyme" like George Lucas said Star Wars does, but these two are the bottom for me. Lost World and Dominion might flip for me depending on the day though, but there is a sizable gap to Fallen Kingdom then. I love the borderline horror thriller of the IndoRaptor, but it comes too late to make up for the rest of it.
