This video was really nice, I can get this stuff for the KIDS, leave my expensive things in MY box. Foe a buck 25, great idea. Thanks for sharing these tips.
Thanks!
Great until the kiddos turn into little fishing monsters like us, and they want the good stuff! :D but, yeah, great ideas for the kids to
I just had a thought. For another $1.25 pick up a toothbrush case or two. You could store the nail files in it, they wouldn't be all over the place and it just might keep them a little drier.
Good idea!
Awesome! I can't believe it never occurred to me to walk around Dollar Tree. Nice video!
Thanks. More in the next Video.

The dollar tree sells paint brush cleaning cups. They have an upside down cone in the top that keeps little bits of trash from flying back out. They have a lid that snaps closed too.
Good idea Kate!
By the way Jerry, a new retired sub here.
Welcome to Retirement! Thanks for watching.
Very Nice - Thanks!
😎👍
Many thanks!
Using a file for sharpening hooks works quite well, but the file should be run in the opposite direction, away from the hook point, so the metal doesn't get pushed back over the hook point and actually dulling the hook.
I think you got me there. Much like sharpening a chisel.
@@JerrysRetirementWisdom65 No,just very lightly file the other side a couple times and it's golden. You won't get as sharp a hook doing it their way...same goes with anything you need to sharpen.
Also doing it their way, will have the point removing the grit every time you run it across the hook.
I bet Jerry’s wife is the best🍕
You betcha!!
Jerry … Let me tell you why I don’t shop at Dollar Tree; I am mobility impaired (bad back and knees). They don’t have motorized shipping carts. I can’t stand and walk long enough to shop and check out there. When they get motorized carts, I’ll start shopping with them again. Until then, I don’t care how good the deals are, I can’t and won’t shop there. Not mad; just realistic. I like Dollar Tree, but I simply can’t shop there. God bless!!! CK. 😮😮
I understand.
No need to carry extra stuff you don't need to. No need for the garden sheers or any other special tool to cut braid,a knife works just as good and can probably be accessed and used by most a lot quicker. They are also more useful, cutting bait, repairing wires, cutting the slits for the lure caddy...lol,etc.
Hook sharpener,if you have a knife then you aren't going to use the nail files on it are you? Doubtful,an no need to use them on hooks either. Jus get a cheap diamond file for the knife and you can also use it on hooks,or just about anything else that needs sharpened. I have both, a Smith’s 50447 and a older version of the Smith's DCS4 that I have had for 10? 15? yrs that I use on sickles, knives, and my hooks from #10 to 8/0,plus IDK what all else.
The clamps,no need, just wrap your line around the rod a few times and let the guide keep it in place....or a rubber band and loop it over the guide, wrap around a few times then loop it again over the guide. If you lose it you have a 100 others you bought in the package.
The safety pin thing..... in all my years I have never had a problem storing each size hook loose in it's on compartment in my plano organizers. Just more time wasted adding them to the pin, digging out the pin, undoing the pin, sliding off a hook and redoing the pin and putting it back. I just open the box, grab a hook and close it once again.
Treble hooks,no real way to stop it with them.
Eagle claw hooks are junk and they will get the eye over the point on another hook. Used to use them to make jigs but after buying them by the 1000 and 10% of them are no way usable (from no points,no eye,eye not formed, eye not closed) I quit buying them altogether. Probably 1/2 of them had the eye over the point of another hook and sometimes had a string of 4-5-6 this way and had to take time to undo them. That trick may be the ticket with jigs and hooks made with/by Eagle Claw but a waste of time on quality hooks like Mustad. Out of maybe 30,000 Mustad hooks I have only had maybe 5-8 that were not usable and none of them have had the point of one through the eye of another.
The lure caddy it's a good idea and been around a long time, but I'd skip cutting the slots, just stick the hook point into the foam.
Thanks for watching.
I think he had some good ideas! Your reply was waaaaay too long.
