  • We spent a weekend doing some fall camping with friends in northern Michigan. We were at a state forest campground located on Lake Margrethe west of Grayling.
It was cold and rainy most of the time, but we had an unexpected blue sky pop out for about an hour. With off-roading, campfires, and a great group of friends, we made the best of the bad weather and had a good time camping.

If you seen amphibious chart on the lake it's most likely a engineer Float bridge company. Pushing the bridge sections together or being used as ferries to transport across the lake. The lake is pounced lake Margerieth

Upper Manistee SFC is our favorite. It’s near there and we park our 32’ trailer there with no problem.

Finding a state forest campground that can accommodate your rig is always a big win! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for another informative video. We like the fall too, especially no bugs. Do you have video that talks about your transition from the Roadtrek to the Airstream & why?

In our initial tour video, we talked a bit about things we found in the Airstream that made the decision for us when we decided to change rigs: czcams.com/video/bAG_PMcaSSU/video.htmlsi=K69A0vY8Qt4iXs6Q
The main push was the need for more space as we made the move to living nearly full time on the road while working remotely.
We have plans to do a follow-up video comparing vanlife to our current setup now that we've had the Airstream long enough to do one.
Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!

Driven past that campground several times. Looks nice. Did u use a nearby state park to fill up water and then dump? What size and brand generator are you using? Nice Airstream

Hartwick Pines State Park is the closest for water and dump, when it's not off-season. We usually travel with water on board, and we stopped at a Flying J to use their dump station on the way back to the sticks-n-bricks.
Our generator is a Firman dual-fuel 3200 inverter generator. We haven't used it a lot
but it has worked well for us when needed.
      Thanks for watching!

Do you know if it's ok (in Michigan) to use campgrounds that are closed for the season?

No, the Michigan DNR doesn't allow you to camp if the whole campground is closed. Note that many campgrounds have no water or bathrooms available in the winter but they still let you camp there.
