Just home from a week Boarding in Bansko, that queue for the gondola is insane, there was only one morning (Saturday 11th Feb) where it was acceptable (But I still didn't queue up). If you are visiting for only a few days just stand across the road from the queue and get a taxi to Shiligarnika (which will cost you 25 - 30 Lev if your running on the meter or 40 if you let the driver rip you off with a flat rate.) I don't know how people can stand in that queue for 2 hours vs paying 15 euro in a taxi (split 4 ways, as there are always others to share with).
I guess Bansko suffers from its own success with these queues, but honestly once you get up the mountain, if you are anything more than a complete beginner you need to get to the top of the mountain and ski 11 / 3 / 10 / 5 / 12. Run 1 is a total nightmare with novice skiers turning unpredictable, the lower half of 1 (Ski Road) is a nice run at times, but at certain sections beginners just seem to all move in an impenetrable group.
My only other advice is bring water and lunch up the mountain with you unless you want overpriced average food, but if you are going to have lunch up the mountain pick somewhere other than Bunderishka (way too many people and not enough seats in the resturants). We did have roast chicken in the Bla Bla resturant one day which was quite nice, and we sat down at 12:00 to avoid the crowds.
Enjoy your trip, it's a great mountain!
