    The Škoda Transtech manufacturing is in Otanmäki, Kajaani. It was a mining town that ran out of ore and the present railway engine and car industry is a replacement from the 1985s, initially in Finnish hands.

      ah; I thought Otanmäki is located near Oulu; so is the news true that VR was forced to buy 20 additional Edm sleeping cars in 2009 ?

    Lovely footage. I just wonder how do car owners get to the train? Do they drive in by themselves or they leave it to the personnel?

      Have a look at minute 24:20 ; car owners drive their cars onto the auto-carrying rail cars; these railcars are then shunted and attached to the passenger train

      As Finnish train run on Russian broad gauge, I believe the beds are a bit longer than on other European sleeping cars; the bed length was at least 2 meters

      The Russian solution -> there are folding chairs available in the aisle of the sleeping car

    any discussion on Finland switching to standard gauge ? is Rail Baltica realistically going to reach Helsinki or is the tunnel till just a distant dream ?

      the difference between 1,520 and 1,524 mm is minimal
