- September 1995 and just six months after their first fight, Steve Collins was putting the title he had won from the former champion on the line in Cork. Both men had visited the canvas in the first fight and this WBO World Super middleweight championship contest had all the hallmarks of an epic battle.

Steve Collins is relentless, he just doesn't stop.
yeah not a good style for eubank who liked to take big breaks
Eubank just finishing Steve Collins in the 12th if yes would have went on the attack like he's always done . Any attack on Collins in the end of the first flight the referee would have just ended the fight just think eubank did not want to hurt anybody else . Has all big boxes agreed at the time eubank should retire he can no longer finished a fight.. and as for Ben the fight he had with McCallum took it all out of him he had nothing left in the tank . Collins was a good fighter but he would not have beaten them at their peek ... What's the hunger has gone it's gone especially when you don't want to hurt nobody . Anybody could have finished Collins off in that last round just take a look at it and tell me that you wouldn't be able to finish that yourself. 💯🇬🇧🇯🇲👍
Yeah😂 didn't want a beating off joe calzaghi tho the 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈
Well done Steve Collins .I watched this fight live at the time .
came here after the gloves are off!
To all the people in the world did u ever here off a boxer his name was christy elliot probably the best middle weight that ever came out off 🇮🇪
@@daviddonohoe2097 Good one that was. Calzaghe Vs Collins would have been very close fight in my opinion.
Same
collins was a great fighter and eubank , i got great joy from the 2 / thanks lads
Eubank came for a boxing match and Collins came for a brawl. Collins just didnt let him settle and Eubank didn't up his workrate.
That headbutt says otherwise.
To me he didn't look like he was interested in fighting kinda just going threw the motions.kinda strange for a top level fighter like Eubanks.
@@randquadrozzi5850He was a lazy fighter who believed he didn't have to do much, because he had a solid chin& a really dangerous upper cut& he would wait& expect his opponent to come to him&counter punch!
So i think for Collins the plan was to put Eubanks under constant pressure&give him not a moments rest time, which would test his stamina to the maximum!
@@jerryoshea3116 That was pretty much Collins plan against everyone.Few could match his stamina and work rate.
He was the best uk fighter… amazing!
I never realised until i watched a few of his fights what a goer
Collins fighting like a crazed lunatic.
Where did he get the stamina ? Incredible
@@richardthompson8961 He was hypnotized for both Eubank fights, caused a massive stink at the time, i suppose it worked though.
The lunatic doesn't feel pain or fear though.Thats dangerous.
It was Collins's time clearly. After all the hard work he did in USA and how he demolished Chris Pyatt, the warning signs were there. He was truly a very underestimated warrior.
@@storminboy For sure man. The whole Collin's family are involved in sport here in Ireland to...Roddy's a football manager, another brother I think is a trainer.
As an Irishman im ashamed Steve Collins does not get the recognition he deserves except from yours truly ,us irish have never won anything else shish
Ali was part Irish. McGregor. Katie. The list goes on. Don's of the fight game. The diaspora is where it is at. Those who stayed behind represent only a fraction of the Irish genome. .. so it depends how you see it. If you are born in the Indian Ocean it does not make you an Indian. Tyson Fury too. A long list actually
The build up to this fight was as crazy as the fight itself!!!
Collins fought like that from round 6 on against Mike Mccallum and was even with the Body snatcher from there for rest of fight. It was very ugly but very effective. I do think Eubank looked really drained and weak though, not his usual self at all- he hadn't looked so drained and weak since the first Watson fight & not as disinterested and mentally/physically tired since the Malinga fight, it was very sad to see Eubank like this
Think eubank should have gone up to light heavy by this time
Agree with that. I think he used so much energy and hard training for the Henry Wharton fight, after that he was never the same for me.
Collins lost every round to McCallum; at best he took a late round in which McCallum was coasting. What the hell were you watching? No shade to Collins here, but damn.
I know people who knew eubank at the time and he used to eat whatever he wanted until about 2 weeks before a fight and would then just literally starve himself in a panic to make weight. He could be almost as much as 2st over the weight limit and would be a shell of himself by the time he made weight.
Tired just watching. Collins was one of the fittest athletes I've ever seen.
Great Win!🥊
Collins is a legend ya hear Legend, underated like Leicester winning rhe league 👏,
Eubank won two of the twelve rounds and one of the judges thought he deserved to win...
*WHAT AN ABSOLUTE FUCKING JOKE!!*
Yep,u always get one clueless Judge!
the quality of the video is proper shiite glad i stuck with it,got ok after a bit
eubank maybe a oddball, but he had heart and talent in spades full,he is a one off, put it all on the line, taking on anyone, wish our modern fighters, had a bit more of that, instead of its all about the money,we need more characters like him to jazz things up a bit, a great fighter and gentleman, glad hes still going strong.i think the Watson fight took a big chunk of his soul,he was never the same after that, never 100% balls deep again IMHHO
Eubank should have retired years before this fight because if you look at the end of the first fight it was clear to see that eubank no longer had the killer instinct . Collins was good but he was never know match for eubank Benn Watson at their peak ..
Collins is the same age as Nigel Benn & fought top quality fighters for yrs, losing on a split decision to Mike McCallum and Kulumbay( who beat Errol Graham) and he was a clever Counter Puncher, who was never stopped ( at that point) So there was a very good reason why they never fought! The outcome would have been no different!
@@jerryoshea3116 there is no doubt if you look at the end of the first fight with eubank against Collins eubank could no longer finish his opponent after causing what happened to Michael Watson plus accidentally killing a man in a car add too much mental damage by then anybody could could have finished Collins off in the last round . Yes Collins was good but it was never no match for a peek eubank or a peek Ben . And I do respect Collins because even Collins has said this in the past. He said it to be like a Mike Tyson in the 80s against the Mike Tyson in the late 90s two different fighterz .💯🇯🇲🇬🇧👍
@@Gray-zi5bpNo I just think Collins peeked a bit later than Benn a eubanks weather he would of beat them in the early 90s we will never know I think he wouldn't.
Love Chris ubank fights.
Proper bout by Collins but Eubank was never the same after the Watson clash ....
Well done to Collins 🏴🇮🇪🇬🇧
Cool, but its very insulting to put a union jack flag beside the Irish Flag like that.
@@paulmangan9547 no insult intended I can understand where your coming from tho was just meaning I consider Collins to be more British than eubank love Ireland as equally as the rest of the UK that’s all I meant by it!
@@mickeymouse3933 Mate I know you didn't mean any insult but it is very important to understand that Ireland is not in the UK. We live in a Republic completely separate from Briton. @@paulmangan9547 appreciate that man I am an advocate for Scottish independence but still love all the countries in the UK and Ireland equally as I’ve worked and interacted with people of all nations and had only positive experiences. Also am not a fan of eubank but liked Collins.
@@mickeymouse3933 Nice one brother, take it easy
Don’t get these fights anymore , two warriors 🇮🇪👍
Eubank said recently that the first shot from Collins landed clean to the body and took a lot out of him for the rest of the fight.
I heard that as well. Understand why he never really got going after that.
At the end did he say it was as close as the first one😂😂😂😂
Gran revancha pero para mi gano eubank uno de mis boxeadores favoritos
Eubank ran away from Collins, turned his back on Collins.Collins was a better boxer. He was braver, fitter and up for it. Eubank just expected to turn up and win.
Collins was a lot fitter in this fight than the 1st with Eubank. Tough as nails
Eubank seems to think that absorbing punches whilst not throwing much means you win rounds? That or he's so self-absorbed he can't imagine he's losing. If you countered with the odd hard straight right he'd land one eventually as Collins came on.
Steve Collins boxing ain't pretty to watch but he gets the job done.
Collins WALKED THROUGH two Huge short left hooks in the 2nd round with all Eubanks weight behind them! Also a perfect right uppercut flush in the 3rd with no effect. Collins strongest MW ever.
Obviously you've never heard of Marvellous Marvin Hagler!
I blame Eubanks corner and trainer for me. They must have known by round 5 what Collins game plan was and should have Eubank adapt to the circumstances surely.
I think Hagler or Lamotta own the title in terms of strongest chinned middlewights dude.
Sir Marvin said "hold my beer"
@@seasideunderinvestigation6211 Steve Collins would of beaten marvin hagler, period.
When Collins lands punches the English bstrds commentators say nothing
The problem with Eubank in this fight is taht he charges his punches up too much in this fight which why he was gassed up in the 4th round, his defense and footwork is pretty good, as he using that to work around an inside fighter like Collins.
Collins V Froch DREAM FIGHT
Where did 31 year old Collins get this unnatural energy from? Was he 'on' something?
Good point he just seemed to over power eubanks at time's 🧐

Ian Darke at the beginning of round 9 ‘’ Eubank has just got a slap from Ronnie Davis’’ 😂😂😂 imagine being in the ring with Steve Collins and getting a slap from your cornerman to boot !
Ronnie Davis is one of the best trainers in the UK 👍🇱🇺
Safe to safe Collins was a little angry In the first round
Collins was the great boxer like Jhoe Calzaghe ...
Collins was the Real Deal Eubanks was just a Pretender to the Throne!!!

Thats not Freddie Roach on the right is it?!
It is pal
Who's here after the Super Middleweight Round table from Sky?
Collins missed about 30 punches in a row in the 6th round. Eubank kept busting him in the nose with a good jab. After the round the commentator said Collins was doing just enough to win the round. Bull hockey; Eubank beat his ass easily in the 6th. He also won the 1st, 2nd and 5th rounds. I've got Eubank ahead 4-2 after 6 rounds.
This is how the English would have commentated on the Irish War of Independence against them. Who does paddy think he is etc
Collins came in at the end
Eubanks never got urgent here. Needed to press more.
Meaning if he should have, could have but didn't and lost. End of story. Collins the champ!
@@annahawula2427 OK.
He wasn't let settle that was Collins plan and it worked Eubank wasn't let showboat like he was used to other fighter's letting him do.
@@aidanjoyce3248 I do remember thinking in the first round or two what are you doing steve 🤔 because he could box with the best of them just didn't have a knock out punch . But then I realised what his plan was !
Collins looking a bit like fury there over powers his man
What a terrible fight for the spectator. Ref should have paid more attention to Collins' foul play. All in all, crap
I cant belive how one sided this commentator’s was. Amazing…
Every round Collins came rushing out like an amateur. Every round Eubank whacked him in the head when Collins ran to center ring. Collins is probably landing about 10% of his punches. Only 5% if you take away the cheap shots to the back of the head and the kidney punches.
Good tactics by Collins, Eubank would rest, disguised as posing, during rounds, this way, he had to fight the full 3 minutes.
Why does it seem everyone hit harder back then
Eubank's never been a high work-rate fighter but even for him, he looks sluggish. Maybe he was on the downslide here? Looked a lot better in the Watson fights than here.
Eubanks said the punch Collins landed to the body at the beginning took a lot out of him and he was never able to recover fully after that.
He was mentally affected from the Watson 2 fight . He was scared about killing someone . A pre Watson 2 eubank would of dropped Steve many times .
This guy, Collins, is/was far better than I ever knew. Beating Benn & Eubank and retiring undefeated.
@Iago Torres Thanks, just checked boxrec. You're right
Wrong. He lost 3 times.
Collins landed dozens of punches behind the head, the referee never said a word.
THATS BECAUSE UEBANK ALWAYS CAME IN WITH HIS TO LOW , WAY TO LOW AND THE REFEREE WAS USELESS. A DECENT REFFEREE WOULD HAVE TAKEN POINTS AWAY FROM HIM FOR HIS HEAD USAGE,,, WAY TO LOW WAY TO MANY TIMES.
I dont understand why the commentator is saying "so called" Celtic warrior. He is a Celt. Its not complicated. I also noticed he tried at one point to imply that Ireland was in the UK. Disgusting!
arrogance
I believe Steve lost the first fight though. ❤ 1 , 1
WOW! EUBANK WAS RIGHT.
WellI I don't think Eubanks own admittance that he lost to Collins twice as that shocking really.
Dont care what anyone says eubank in prime would destroy collins dont 4get he is fighting in collins bk yard both times
Eubank was disappointing here. I think Roy Jones would've beaten Collins here.
Collins was a bum. He lost to the 3 best fighters he faced. He would have lost twice against Eubank had they fought in England. Who did Collins beat? Absolutely nobody.
Collins was a Dirty fighter. Referee was bias.
Steve Collins was a very awkward, swarming fighter. A handful.
Collins wanted to fight Roy Jones. Roy would have knocked him out in less than one round.

1100%
Eubank was a dirty fighter, always leading with his head, trying to open up cuts on opponents, just like that cheater B-Hop
I have Eubank winning 9 rounds to 3. The referee doesn't know the rules so I helped him out by taking points away from Collins for hitting behind the head, holding Eubanks head down while punching and so on.
you are quite frankly blinded to reason by your man crush for Eubank. My god the idiocy of some.
@@saltydog4759 I watched the fight and I'm not a big fan of either guy. I'm not a Brit either. Most Brits like you hate the Eubanks for some reason. It's idiocy if someone disagrees with you?
@@MrMarco855 to have watched that fight and say that Eubank won 9 rounds is either a complete lack boxing acumen or idiocy.
@@saltydog4759 Explain the basis for your scoring. If you have no specific formula than your using opinion to score. I score based upon punches landed primarily. I use a point system; a full point for power shots to the head, a half point for a jab or a body shot.
I have something to use as a barometer, which is more legitimate than guesswork. If you have a method then let's hear it. If not, bias against the Eubanks definitely affects your judgement. Maybe you can answer a serious question; why do Brits seem to hate the Eubanks? When Chris Jr. fights another Brit the Brit fans always favor his opponent. Isn't he a Brit as well? Is it racism, or something other?
the very fact that you think that Eubank won 9 rounds of that fight tells me that i no longer need to engage you as i have determined that your emotional attachment to this man renders you lovestruck and incapable of reason. Good day.
You'll Never Beat The Irish! 🇮🇪
John T: You mean apart from Mike McCallum, Reggie Johnson, and Sumbu Kalambay, who all beat Collins?
James Toney would have Knocked Chris Eubank out in 2 rounds.
In the 8th round the commentator declared that Collins was winning, saying there's no doubt about that. He's not a professional judge, how the hell would he know? It takes a real bullshitter to continue saying that Collins is winning as if he's a judge. If there's no doubt, as the commentator claimed, then the fight is fixed against Eubank. Otherwise, he has no right to say he knows for sure who's winning.
Because he was winning ya clown
Neither one of these guys are Elite fighters
Chris Eubanks gives too much attention to showing off and loving himself.
Eubank was too lazy in this fight should have fought him like his fought ben collins was wide open every round.
Shit youtselt over joe calzaghi tho
Steve did not get distracted by Eubanks bullshit showponying...
Collins is a terrible fighter. Rushing in like a bull, missing 10 or more punches in a row, he looks like a drunk club fighter. The commentators seem to think that ' work rate' and 'being busy' count for anything; they don't unless you're landing punches. One said that Eubank is finally starting to use his jab, that was in the 5th round. He was using it from the start, landed 30 or 40 jabs in the fight by that time. Eubank was smashing Collins nose with a stiff jab time after time when Collins rushed forward. Collins shows no signs of having any boxing skills. He hasn't beaten anyone in his career.
Joe Calzaghe was a much better boxer than Collins , who essentially was a brawler . Calzaghe' s technical ability , strength of character and resilience would have proved too much , even for the Celtic Warrior .
Joe was 10 years younger. Collins was a brawler and many fighters avoided him.

Lol, excuses, excuses.
I liked Collins and he was winning rounds simply by 'doing' to Eubanks 'not doing' but i have to say what everyone saw:
Collins looked stupid that first round. I mean, I don't think I've ever seen such a ridiculous looking showing at that level, goof swinging, dumb lunging, idiotic flailing, wow that was bad.
wasnt allowed his time to posture and fk about? ahh shame mr eubanks
I had a grand on Eubank to win this 🤦♂️😭
At what price?
There was a good reason Eubank Ben and Roy Jones avoided Collins for years. Jones never got in with him.
Don't kid yourself. Collins was 2 levels below Jones at his best. Collins looks as if he's fighting in slow motion, Roy Jones would have KO'D Collins early in the fight. Watch Roy Jones in his prime highlights. He was really dangerous.
Jones wud kill collins
@@MrMarco855 So why didn't he fight him then, if he was so much of a bum? Jones had the nicknames Reluctant Roy and Mandatory Roy for a reason. HBO used to mock him for not taking the Michalczewski fight. Roy would rather fail to sell out arenas in America than fight abroad in front of sold out stadiums.
@@PatkaBoy831 The 3 best opponents all beat Collins. If he had fought Eubank in England he would have lost both of those fights. Who did Collins beat?
Jones was the champion, he should have the benefit of fighting at home and winning a very close decision if it came down to that. Why should a champion have to travel across the world to lose his title on a biased decision? Michalczewski had no chance against prime Roy Jones, Collins even less. Collins was beaten by the 3 best he faced, he would have lost twice to Eubank had the fights been in England. Aside from that, who did Collins beat? Nobody.
Collins is missing so many shots it's embarrassing. He looks like a drunk staggering around, rarely landing a punch. Collins can best be described by 2 words; ineffective aggression. He's the worst fighter I've ever seen, no talent at all.
irish win when English man past his best
What a boring match!
I speed to the end.
Eubank looked weight drained its pretty obvious what Collins was trying to do but rushing in like that calzaghe would have made light work of collins
U know I disagree. Collins was late to the british supermiddleweight party, but he smashed eubank and Benn twice. Calzaghe vs Collins would have been really close. The young Calzaghe that fought Eubank would have really been tested with Collins. However, the later prime Calzaghe completely bums Collins in a clear shut out.
Steve Collins ducked Joe calzaghe it's a good job Collins retired calzaghe would have destroyed Steve Collins
@irish man to me the first fight was a draw
@@nigelthorpe7592 That's a fair comment to be honest. The first fight was very close. Eubank was fighting on the razors edge with too many very close decisions at the end of his career.

After watching Nigel Ben & Chris Eubank , I found out that they both have no skills and no speed . They would have no match against Mayweather Jr , Manny P , E Spence , Golvekin , & the current Mexican world champion .
Good thing Nigel never claimed to have skill then lmao. In-fact in an interview he went on to talk about how he got rid of a trainer due to the dude trying to correct Nigel’s self-made style and have him become a “boxer” instead. Even without the “skill” he was still a force to be reckoned with with power, good head movement, frantic footwork, heart and was able to scrap when the going got rough.
