    73 and still going strong. Hope to still have that passion and mobility at that age.

      Agreed, we hope to be able to continue to move like that at his age. Shoot, I"m already seeing a chiropractor and deep tissue massage therapist for maintenance LOL!

      He's rare person that started as a young child. He's polished his craft as the years go by. And he has a great connection with his students.

    I've been practicing Silat and Escrima since 1993 and Taiji, Bagua and Xingyi since 2008. I like practicing slow twisting and circling steps with blades. It nourishes my brain and I circulate my chi to stay healthy and massage my internal organs to stay soft and limber.
    The first thing I would teach someone is how to relax and root and circulate Qi. After relaxing, someone can learn basic Gong Fu!

      It's good to balance the external with the internal arts. Especially when we get older. Things get stiffer and tighter. People may not see the benefits of the internal arts, but for overall mental, spiritual and physical health, it helps. Especially since it is low impact.

      I am one of the only people who practices double, Tai Chi, double edged straight sword. I recommend everyone learn to fight with weapons!

    Great techniques but what I really like is the inherent sense of humour and lack of ego. Fantastic!

      Glad you enjoyed it! That's how we feel when we meet the GM's and other instructor's from the Philippines. Outside of the training space, they like to have a drink, sing karaoke and have a good time.

    Looking good GM Rodel. We can see that you still love what you do. Pugay and Mabuhay from the states 😎 👍🏽

      Indeed, the old school GM's always have to adapt quick to whatever situation. And what we notice is that they move without hesitation.

    Police trained like this with an old fashioned night stick would be nasty!

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  Před 9 měsíci

      We spoke to a former police office why they stopped using the night stick and tonfa. He said that it was too bulky and flopped around when they were trying to run after an assailant. It kept swing around on the belt and smacking them when they were running.
